A mouthful, indeed. Wish I had a dollar for every time I saw or heard "there will never be another Freddie Mercury" written in a tweet, post, blog, news article, interview, news cast etc. I would have more than enough money to follow QAL around on a world tour. In a nutshell that's the Freddie legal disclaimer aka #fld I think it's legislated somewhere that it has to accompany any mention of QAL That's the legend effect. When some artists die they get propelled into the legend status. Flawless. Can't do anything wrong. They become untouchable. Almost sacrilegious to say anything ill of the dead.

Glad to see that Tyler Oakley included "These Boys." It is my daughter's favourite song from the album. My son's (16) too. Of course it's the only happy song he says. Save

I really don't think this particular gesture( thumb to index finger) has any connection to his sound guy. Where he did it during KQ, there is no way the sound guy could even see it as the sound guy is main stage left and Adam is a on the B stage facing the audience. During WWTLF in Brussells Adam does signal the sound guy, shortly before the thumb to index finger gesture, with his right hand doing the more knob-turning wrist roll little finger to index finger fold. Watch at 1:05ish you can see both happen. youtu.be/-YzAd-c629YIn Sofia, while he meddles with his earpieces, he does not appear to signal the sound guy but does posture the phrase "at one sweet moment" in a very similar manor. At about 0.49 youtu.be/XaAId52aBBII doubt direct sight line is required as there is a camera on Adam...that is all the sound man needs... Unless the sound man sits in front of the multi-camera video feed or has a monitor that shows all the video feeds in addition to whatever sound board he has that would be an unreliable method of communication. Adam's used to signaling to stage left on his own tour where there was usually no camera I doubt he'd change up. Save

Thing is Freddie wasen't perfect. HE missed notes, he had off performances. Media used to blast him most of the time. But its true once you die you get legend status. I mean Amy Winehouse had so many issues, or people talked about was her personal life and drug usage. Yet when she died, best voice ever! And she was very talented. But only ppl said that once she died. Truth is vocally, technically Adam is as good as Freddie imo. Some people just cannot get over this concept of Adam being threatning to their memories. They need to understand their is no compeitition. Adams role is not to threaten Freddie's legacy, but enhance it. Only a talent like Adam could.

Thank you, krypto! I was hoping you'd do this for us as I was also hoping that the following sentence was a mistake of translation, but unfortunately it was not: "...the former Starbucks clerk and finalist on American Idol has the incredible luck to be touring the world at 34 in front of full stadiums alongside the aristocratic Brian May and Roger Taylor." What a fascinating example of a message where all parts are literally true but the end result is warped...amazingly masterful slap...oh well... Hmm, it is in the eye of the beholder. When I read the Google version of the translation, I thought like you. When I read the original, the whole article was exactly the opposite - it was a slap on all the "he is not worthy" comments which I also found in some other articles I don't have the heart to translate. What you quoted above is what Adam says (because he is humble): I cannot believe I am doing this, it is a great honour, they are the royalties of rock and I am just their guest, making their music alive again. And he is grateful. And he is the first to mention he is not Freddie (to take away their ammo, more or less). However I suspect he is aware of the fact (after being close to Brian and Roger) that his live vocal abilities are way beyond belief. For the first time last night I saw him showing through a bit of that confidence in some word plays or Freudian slips - "Do you love Freddie as much as me" (which could mean "as much as I do" on any other night, but last night it meant "as much as you love me"), because in the STL intro he was like "Who is in love?" "Not with me, with somebody else" after hearing the voices telling him "we love you". Anyway, I take the article that I polished as a huge compliment to both his abilities and his attitude. Good to know the article reads complimentary in the original! Just to clarify: the arc presented in the translation looks like Adam, a clerk at Starbucks, went on Idol, became a finalist and is miraculously fronting Queen now. Out of sheer luck. Just like that - from Starbucks to Idol to QAL...lol... now, the "do you like Freddie as much as me" - "bad" English, but no Freudian slip here what so ever imo, and as you said - the "Not with me" comment during the STL intro is his reaction to the fans yelling "in love with YOU" in response to his "are you in love?" and it's not the first time he said it... oh, I agree with you re Adam knowing the magnitude of his vocal excellence very well...

SaveI hope Era 4 is completely full of happy sexy songs! It is time for Adam to show that side of himself and draw it out in others. I don't tweet that much but saraswati inspired me to put it out to the universe.

Just returning back to my computer right now, and following the discussion, I do agree, that when Adam does the ok sign, after previously signaling for an adjustment, then this may indeed mean that it is ok, that now the sound is right. So I agree there, and just had not focused in on that part of the signaling communication that is going on.
I also think, that they have it exactly worked out, during which songs Adam runs around the stage and can therefore communicate with his sound guy, if he is i.e. to the left, versus a ballad like WWTLF, where he moves far less, especially in the first half, and where therefor the communication is via the FOH camera.
It is not for all songs the same. Neither is the sound mix the same for each song. So it all depends.
