Many have commented on how Adam has gone from strength to strength in these QAL tours. It seems impossible that his performances could get better when I already thought they were perfect, but it has happened. He is more confident and assertive as a frontman. Not at all timid about taking that spotlight and milking it, while still acknowledging the others in the band. He is taking his time, not rushing into or thru anything. Vocally, he is stronger as well. In the past, there were a few areas of his range that were more difficult for him to sing with power and accuracy without straining. WATC, in particular. Riddle's most recent video of WWRY and WATC showed him singing the lowest notes strongly, and hitting those high notes on "we'll keep ON FIGHTING" and and WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, NO time FOR LOsers, CUZ WE are THE CHAMPions" on top of the pitch, powerfully, and without any sound of strain. He has mastered pushing the voice right to the edge cleanly, resonantly, and without tipping over and cracking. I suspect that Adam has been watching himself in a number of videos. He can be seen frequently making gestures and striking poses that are almost balletic. At times his performance resembles a photo shoot or a modern dance. That doesn't just happen by accident. He has studied his every look on the stage. He is not content to just sing the hell out of a song. He sculpts the look with costumes, poses and movements for a compelling visual performance. It is not choreographed in a formal sense, but it is very intentional. The expanse, diversity, and scope of the Queen catalog lets Adam display his talents and vision to the fullest. What a treat for the ears and the eyes. The entrance to Killer Queen in Bangkok is an exceptional example of this. The stripper music entrance was, I think, new for him to this tour and was perfected by Bangkok. The fan flick, the chin lift, the overdone bump&grind, the struts .... amazing. I would dearly love to see an even closer video.

Did Adam go to Australia of Cali... anybody know?? He does not need to be in Sydney until November when the live rounds of XF AU start. The NOVA interview is pre-recorded. He has not been spotted or surfaced anywhere but my money is on a post-tour mini break somewhere with a beach and a private villa. Seem likely that he will return to the US for RHPS promo and Adam Lambert's Halloween Party before he goes to AU.

We all seem to be surprised that Adam can keep getting better - where does one go from perfect?!? It's clear he keeps on working to improve all his skills, but I'm wondering how much the natural maturation of his voice comes into play. Cassie and others have discussed this. And I'm wondering if Adam is a bit surprised himself at how strong his voice has become. His confidence and joy are beautiful to see.
And, Cassie, I loved your entire post!

I expected Adam to improve as he hit his mid-30's but there seems to be more going on than just physical maturity. It seems to me that he has used the concert performances as an opportunity to experiment a bit here and there. Perhaps because he is never satisfied and perhaps because he gets a bit bored or both. It messes him up sometimes -- like when he changed the TSMGO phrasing and blew the lyrics. But usually it works out well and only the most attentive fans pick it up. For example, he was playing around a bit the IWIA in Bangkok to good effect.

Did Adam go to Australia of Cali... anybody know?? He's one steps away to Sydney, It doesn't make any sense to me to go fly back to LA that's almost 17 hrs and then fly back to Sydney for a longer flights. Bangkok to Sydney is long also! If he doesn't need to be there for 3 weeks, why go so early? IDK, where he is, but going home for 2 weeks would not surprise me

As Brian and Adam communicate, vocally and instrumentally, improvising before "I Want It All", we truly witness a master lesson in artistry.
In order to do what they do, they both have to be absolutely 'tuned in' to one another . . .
We see and listen when symphony orchestras tune their instruments to the 'A' on the scale, when they warm up and get ready for performance. Adam and Brian synch their instruments and perfectly meld tune and tone. I have never before heard a vocalist bring his or her voice - pitch, tone, resonance, the moan and the wail - to create and spin a symbiotic match such as this. Somewhere, a master vocal instructor needs to be downloading this audio/video. It is a lesson in how to manipulate a free voice.
I've never worried about AFL hitting the high notes. He knows where he can go. Sometimes I worry his head might just explode from the energy - but my knowledge has been that his lower register has lacked power and force. Not anymore! From 'Runnin' to 'AOBTD' to 'TSMGO' to 'WWRY' he has captured the lower notes and sings them with a ferocity and depth I hadn't heard in performances of years past.
Now, Adam truly can sing the phone book! And interpret the phone book. Sing every note the 'Red Special' can produce. And find and carry the emotion Brian and his father imagined, as they created an instrument to speak to the stars. Now, the doctor and his instrument share the stage with a voice from the Universe above. I wonder if, each time Adam looks up to the mirrored ball and frames the question in 'WWTLF', whether he and Brian might be humbled by these gifts. Is this why we feel their connection to us?

Momtomany's reference to the disco ball inspired me to think about how absolutely bizarre that Queen toured the US with a gigantic mirrored disco ball -- and the associated lighting and performance was so amazing that even the rock-snob US Queen fans, did not dare mock the disco connection. If you would have told a Queen fan in 1979 that Queen would ever perform with a giant mirrored disco ball on stage, they would have just thought you were insane. And even AOBTD, their totally unlikely disco hit, was more funk than disco. In any case, it reminded me of a great article about Queen I stumbled upon: medium.com/cuepoint/the-game-how-queen-conquered-and-lost-america-a3c48103ac62#.8sbxic1a8If you like music and/or Queen, it is worth a read.
