And yes, we have public confirmation that RCA wanted the album out in late Spring 2011 (multiple statements from RCA execs, not just RCA Ed) and Adam did an interview where he said that he decided NOT to record while he was on tour and was hoping to have his album out in Fall. I've never seen this any where. What/where were these statements just curious have never seen any statements from RCA executives stating this. As for RCA Ed, ya well He's also told David Cook fans RCA is trying to get David a gig on Saturday Night Live.... ETA: I'd glad Adam is getting the November release rather then the Summer release. 4th quarter releases are suppose to be better aren't they?

Here's a weird one --- iTunes singles --- 768. Whataya Want from Me – Adam Lambert; #439 on Amazon MP3. --not in top 1000 -- TLG - David Cook -- and this song is in the top 29 on HAC and on VH1 Large Rotation. (It is #1869 on Amazon MP3.) This song is not doing anything -- I sure hope RCA has a better strategy for Adam. NOTE: I know Cook has nothing to do with Adam and I have posted that opinion many times BUT I cannot remember a song from an established artist with radio and VH1 support not being in the Top 1000 on iTunes before. I thought I just missed it on iTunes. Makes me really sad to see this. WHAT????!!!! It was in the 900s yesterday! We were tracking it in the numbers thread! Wow!

I thought I just missed it on iTunes. Makes me really sad to see this. Well to me it comes down to how many people are hearing this song. It has an AI on HAC of 1.557, so just not a broad enough audience to make a dent. Also, and sadly for DC, it is really the only radio friendly song on the album. The album is also dropping like a rock on iTunes and Amazon. Going to be rough times ahead for DC! WWFM even two years later, is getting many more radio spins than Davids song, so probably why it is selling more. WWFM got a boost from The Voice too. And, yes, WWFM is still getting a more airplay than LG. But it is a mature song now and LG is a new song by an artist who was one of the most popular Idol winners ever. I think Cook has a real challenge ahead of him to reposition for the next album. It will be no small trick. I see nothing in the first two albums (or his pre-Idol indie album) that indicate he can write a great pop/rock track. And I would not expect someone major (like Tedder) to "give" him a great song. So I am not optimistic.

ETA: I'd glad Adam is getting the November release rather then the Summer release. 4th quarter releases are suppose to be better aren't they? Sales are better in the Fall as they lead up to Christmas. More competitive but bigger market. The lowest total sales are in the Summer, biggest in Oct-December. But many of the biggest albums are released in the Summer. For example: Eminem Relapse May 2009 Eminem Recovery June 2010 Lady Gaga Born This Way May 2011 It depends on the strategy and when the album in done. And the labels balance the schedule so they do not cannibalize there own sales and so that they can hit corporate profit levels for the quarter. I do not know a lot about how UMG works, but Sony execs know they must hit the quarterly budget/profit goals. I think it is similar at UMG. On the Spring-Summer dates -- I will track it down next couple of days. I am certain because Adam said that he was going to work on his second album for release in late Spring first and there were a lot of doubters. Then it was in an SME statement in Germany when he was there for the exec meeting. If someone still has this, please post. I do not speak German so it will be hard for me to find. Also, RCA Ed did confirm it -- late Spring album was what RCA wanted, Adam wanted more time. ETA: RCA could have pitched Cook to SNL -- why not? Doesn't mean it will happen. The pitched Daughtry to SNL a couple of times in the last album cycle according to RCA Ed -- so seems like a routine thing to do.

Well. this fall and winter should be interesting because supposedly all these albums may be released by the end of the year;
Kelly Adam Daughtry Kris Danny Scotty Laurin Pia
This looks like AI overload to me. I know they will be in different genres, but they are all AI and there will be many of the same buyers purchasing them. Should be very interesting and I bet we see some buyer fatigue.

I will dig up the Sony comments from the German retailer meetings but Adam was not confused about the dates or plan when he did this interview: July 27, 2010 Ryan Seacrest Interview -- He says he’ll be working on it “abroad” (coinciding with his international tour of Asia and Europe) and will write new music based on his experiences this past year. He’s also learned a lot about what his audience wants. www.youtube.com/watch?v=efytN1vE4YUThe plan was for him to go to Europe and to work on the album -- that plan was scrapped sometime during the EU Tour. And RCA Ed indicated that they were starting to plan Adam #2 in October 2010. Granted he was trying to get the few hundred OTT fans who were pushing for another single to stop being PIA but he could have just posted his some old message about "it's expensive to release a US single, Adam's last single wasn't a mega hit, Adam can't afford to have a miss right now, etc." He had a dozen other good reason why a 4th single was not a good promotional strategy for Adam. Instead he posted this: Thursday, October 21, 2010 - RCA Ed: no more US singles, how does that sound? Don't take this to the bank because we're still discussing it, but right now, we're not planning another single for the U.S. Instead, we're inclined to start thinking about Adam's next album. How's that sound?
