I missed the 1st Wednesday - Oh no! Well if you were in my neck of the woods you might understand. We aren't usually in snow country. Not that we don't see snow, just that it doesn't stick around for weeks at a time and it doesn't keep snowing, and snowing until it's higher than my biggest snowboots and you shovel the drive and the sidewalks every 5 inches and that winds up being twice a day. Well suffice it to say, we've got snow. Now it's not like snow in places that are used to snow, you guys actually have snow plows, we have snow plows but it's policy to not plow neighborhoods, and they ticket you if you plow your own neighborhood. But then the only car that can get out is my DH Jeep Wrangler. Oh and the city just declared a state of emergency because nobody can get out of the neigborhoods and onto the main roads which are clear, not dry, but clear. Enough we said and finally a plow came by today. So now with all this snow on our roofs, that aren't used to snow, and it's been warm enough to melt a bit but not enough to melt all so there's som really pretty roof icecycles. Did you know that's a bad thing? Oh, and there is rain on the way, not warm enough to like melt the snow, but enough to weigh the snow down, get caught in the non-shovel storm drains. All those reasons for the city to declare an emergency but even better reasons for us to clear off our roofs a bit because ice dams on roads are bad enough but ice dams on roofs cost people money. Anyway so lots of work outside you see and my shoulder does this thing when I do shoveling or pulling or lifting, like those things you might do when it snows, and it makes me think I'm having a heart attack because I can sit at the computer without getting winded and my back hurting. So that was yesterday, Wednesday. But it's ok, I'm here now I went to the Chiropractor. So anyway - I can put a check mark in front of Exercise

That definitely counts as exercise! I haven't shaped up at all in the last two years. I gained back about 21 lbs over the last 2+ years after having lost 56 lbs. But I have been tracking all along and am well aware that the problem is that if I want to eat the way I like I have to move more. This year I added to my tracking commitment that I will post my daily weight on MFP and Fitbit so that it is public. I am finding that writing things down in my bullet journal to check off is helping to motivate me so I am adding small things like knee circles and squats to my daily list. If I can get consistent with those I will add more later. My weight on Jan 1st was 147.4 and on Wednesday was 147.2. Going to add shape up check in to my Wednesday to do list as well.

I lost about 30 lbs 2 years ago and so far I have been able to maintain my weight loss. The motivating factor for me is getting into size 4-6 clothes. Over Christmas I gained about 3-5 lbs with all the family/friends celebrations. Hopefully, with a more normal routine I will be able to get rid of the extra weight.
I asked for a Fitbit for Christmas and I'm enjoying the daily motivation to complete a minimum of at least 8000 steps....generally averaging about 10,000. Walking my dogs twice daily is a big help to reach my goal and I know that once we're out of the deep freeze I will increase my walking.
I really need to focus on adding other exercises to my daily routine so I will make a conscious effort to do that. Today, I turned 67 and I weigh 135 lbs which for my height is a pretty good weight. I feel healthy and energetic which adds to my daily enjoyment of life.
Good luck to everyone in reaching whatever goals you have set for yourselves!

That's great gabriella, welcome to the thread.
I pretty much run year to year in a 6 lb up and down weight range so I'm no heavier than when I started but I'm not lighter either and that I've really got to work on.
I have been able to stave off some late night snacking do to a suggestion here last year about the Fast Diet. It's mostly pick two days a week to fast and then eat normally the other days. I haven't got to that point yet but I did pick up on a modification to it that extends your overnight fasting time. For me that just means that I don't consume calories after 8PM. Probably something a lot of people do normally but I wasn't making a conscious effort to do. It was a modification to my lifestyle that I was able to implement easily. I get the urge to look for food but the "is it after 8" question kicks in immediately and naturally. I wish more things were as easy for me to do.

Hello fellow shaper-upper! Hope 2017 will be successful in at least this side of our lives!
Beginning of this year was not so great for me - got sick over the holidays and haven't been to the gym for almost 3 weeks now, which of course translated into a 3 lbs gain, but i am sure that'll come off as soon as I get back to my regular routine...
I am going to try and follow Jablea's example of not eating anything after 8 pm. Usually I count my calories (with the help of LoseIt app) and once I reach my daily limit I stop picking, but I never look at the time... May be this change will help...
Welcome to the thread gabriella! 30 lbs sustained loss is amazing! Way to go!

I have been retired for 7 years but I still do some supplying for Principals/Vice Principals and that is the case this week. Since I'm not used to working regularly anymore I find that I'm more tired which is natural and that is when I tend to eat more. So I will have to see if my weight has increased this week.
I like Jablea's idea of not eating after a certain time........I know that I actively practiced it during the time I was losing weight. Also, I weighed myself everyday during that period......now I do it at least weekly if not more often.

Hi all. I'm putting something in now since I have news. I weighed this morning and I'm down something like 6 or 7 pounds. How? Involuntary fasting and no sleep. I haven't had time to eat. I'm four days behind reading the main thread. My dad had a stroke on Monday, in a different state, and his Medicare Insurance is the squits (AARP can you believe it) I will leave a recap in the Member News thread, but suffice to say I haven't been thinking much about food. I bought M&Ms on the first leg of my trip to go get him two days ago and haven't finished the small package yet. That's unheard of. On Thursday I didn't eat before flying and the first I looked at food thinking maybe I was hungry was 7pm and they gave me an extra patient meal. On Friday I ate a granola bar when we were on the plane after noon and then had half a small hamburger before crashing at 6pm. Today a bit more but like I said it's weird looking at a package of M&Ms and not wanting them. I will be breaking the 8pm rule today but so glad that sounds like a plan for some of you too.
Now if I bound back up by Wednesday I'll be disappointed. I hope my body will adjust to the lower weight.
