OT feel free to scroll. Last night U2 performed in Minneapolis and dedicated "Stuck In A Moment" to Amy Winehouse. The song was originally written for Michael Hutchence of INXS who was Bono's close friend. www.drfunkenberry.com/2011/07/24/u2-dedicates-performs-stuck-in-a-moment-to-amy-winehouse/I'm also posting a link to the European version of the official video as I think it is a very moving portrait of the struggle of both the person battling their demons and the friends and family who surround them. Throughout the video Bono is knocked down, thrown around, etc and he keeps trying to "get himself together" but he just can't manage it. The rest of the band is there but either can't seem to see him or can't get to him. At the very end even though Edge is standing right over him and reaching out their hands don't quite touch until Bono finally puts in the extra effort to stretch his hand a bit more for Edge to grab him. So many times the person struggling can't seem to see that they have people there trying to help but no matter how hard every one else tries it takes the individual reaching out for that help for it to truly be successful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=emFUtuotHL4

Very moving. I didn't know it was written for Michael Hutchence. Another tragic story both for Hutchence and his girlfriend. So so sad. Both waisted their lives and left a little a kid behind them.

Oh, happy, try to find a way to see Adam perform on his next tour. For me, it was life-altering, and I will enjoy this rabbit hole forever! I remember Thunder Valley very well. Melisende and I, and two others, drove up on that blistering Saturday, after seeing Adam at the Warfield the nite before - - and being completely blown away. We checked in to the hotel, and I met four friends, who had come to see Adam for the first time. They were reluctant attendees . . . especially one 'DH', who informed me that if he decided to leave, mid-concert, and go gambling, I shouldn't hold it against him, as he knew Adam 'just isn't my kind of performer'. No problem! I had gifted them tickets I bought when they initially went on sale. I can't remember the section, but they had pretty good seats - near the center, but at least 30-40 rows from the stage. Me - - well, I did the StubHub thing after seeing Adam at Fantasy Springs, because I realized I have to, just have to be up close. However, I was blown away when the usher seated me in the center of the second row, right in front of the stage!!! I flailed over my good fortune, and, margarita in hand, 'took it all in' as I slowly twirled around and surveyed the thousands there. I noticed, filing in right behind me, all these people with 'Adam badges' on. Oh! In came Leila! She sat just behind me and to my right. I, umm, tried to appear nonchalant as I looked around (keeping an eagle eye on Adam's beautiful, petite mom) and, suddenly, the guy sitting right behind me said "Hey - why am I wearing the VIP badge but you're sitting in front of me?" He laughed, and I said something about the wonder of StubHub and mortgaging my home - and we began talking. I asked why he was a 'VIP' - "I'm Adam's Uncle" he said. "Oh! Are you the famous Unca Dave from Thanksgiving?" - 'No' he replied - 'That's my brother'. Adam's Unca Steve introduced me to his fiance, and then told me about all the people sitting in the third row - - relatives and close family friends. When I asked Steve if this was his first concert, he replied that he'd been watching Adam perform since he was ten. I asked him how it feels to know Adam is becoming so famous - - - and he made this sweeping gesture towards the crowd and said "This is the only thing that's different." It was a great conversation! And lasted about 40 minutes - until Adam Fucking Lambert hit the stage! Unca Steve gave me his VIP badge, and I wore it proudly - and now have it stored in my box of GNT mementos. The concert left me breathless - as they all have. Afterwards, there was a radio station, broadcasting live, asking concertgoers what they thought of Adam - - and when they snagged me I can't even remember what I said - - something about Adam being beyond any performer in this world. Oh! And about my friends . . . they loved Adam but were disappointed there were no Jumbotrons . . . he was just a little gyrating speck, and they really wanted to see him move, after hearing my orgasmic descriptions of his dancing. Obviously, no one left! They were 'thoroughly entertained!"
Well, after two performances in a row, Melisende and I were prepared to sleep in and mosey our way back to SF for the second Warfield performance - the next day. BUT! An Adam fan (I'm still jealous!) chanced to be in the same elevator with Adam after the show, and Adam remarked "Tomorrow nite we're going to blow the roof off the performance!" So, Sunday morning it was life in the fast lane, back to SF, where I threw Melisende out of the car in front of the Warfield to stand in line! Ah - but that saga is for another day. Tomorrow? This still feels like a splendid, visceral, awakening dream. Oh yes, life has changed!

Wow, the Thunder Valley concert really stands out for me. Partly because of the EXTREME conditions- it was mercilessly hot, and I am such a wuss, I really thought I was gonna die, or pass out, and had to go inside a lot. But once they herded us into the holding pen, there was nothing to do but wait in the heat. I do think the venue put themselves at risk; people could seriously have become ill. There was a woman we had to douse with a Slushie because she was getting heat exhaustion. The concert was great, but my favorite part was seeing such a big crowd giving Adam so much love, and watching new fans be born. This is from my recap: As I said above, we were in the 2nd row behind Reserved. After we settled in, I studied Row 1, and they looked suspiciously ~casual and non-flaily. We questioned the two women directly in front of us (mid-late 60's in age) and found that pretty much all of them were casino VIPs, who had been let into the venue before they opened the gates for us. (There was also a couple of older gentlemen next to them. More on them later) The ladies were really nice, and we found out that they knew Adam from AI, liked him there, thought he should have won (heh), and hadn't paid much attention since. They were pretty musically open, and had recently seen Ke$ha and loved her. They asked, "Is Adam a good performer?" (they had recently seen Lionel Ritchie and raved about what a great performer he was). I chuckled and said, I'll let you tell us, afterwards. We told them about the Glamazing Race, and they were stunned and somewhat puzzled, but friendly and supportive.
They ended up really liking Alli, who by the way, was out-the-box crazy good last night, with explosive energy. "She came in 4th? Another thing Idol got wrong!" was their comment. They also enjoyed Ori. During intermission, I told them about Adam's theory on audience/performer energy exchange, and they promised to show him some love.
And then Adam came on, and when I could tear my eyes from him, I watched our friends. Over the next hour, I watched them move from attentive to enthralled. One lady watched him through binoculars most of the time, and they became more and more animated, shaking their heads and clutching at each other. The two old gentlemen totally got into it, too. By the time Adam was singing Strut, one of them was dancing, pumping his fist, and laughing in delight at Adam's OTT provocative moves.
After the concert, the ladies turned to us with slack jaws and wide eyes. Their comments: We get it now, why you're following him around!; We knew he was good, but he is GREAT!; Way better than Lionel Ritchie (LOL); We're saving our ticket stubs- he's going to be huge!!! And on and on, in full-on flail mode! We hugged, and clutched at each others hands, and laughed in total delight at each other. I told them to please buy his album and support him, and they said, of course, they were going to buy it right away.
So there you have it- more converts, one concert at a time. Anyone who wonders about some of Adam's venues and worries that the audience may not be full of fans, should realize that this happens EVERY TIME! There really is no resisting his ~allure, and anyone who is open to it, can't help but be won over. I'm so thrilled that I got to witness this transformation first-hand, and it really made the concert even more special for me.
glamazingrace.blogspot.com/p/thunder-valley-724.htmlGreat recap! NOW I understand why being only about number 50ish in line we ended up in row two and felt lucky at that... Also love hearing how non-Adam fans react. I was there with my daughter-in-law, no Adam fan but knows I am, and she really enjoyed it:-)

Had our big summer party all day yeterday and today . It's a big bash we have that celebrates summer and 4 family BDs all at once (about 50 people in attendance.) Of course, the song choices coming out of the i-Pod are mine and hubby's. Twice, yesterday, when WWFM came on 1/2 the party started singing it! They all love the WWFM chorus. The first time it played, someone asked who sang it. My older daughter said Adam Lambert and almost everyone here did not know Adam sang it! They all agreed it was a great song. There were a few people who didn't know who Adam Lambert was. It was explained by one of our party goers, that "He won American Idol a few years ago!" I didn't correct them! ;D

Silence. What does this mean?
Before other concerts - including Moscow - we got tweets from Adam and the band; stuff like "in rehearsal" or "we're going to rock it. . . in Moscow!" - - or somewhere else.
We're not hearing a thing about Quebec. Not even a whisper; a tiny tweet.
What do you think this means? Who will be performing with Adam? Monte? Isaac? Tommy? Cam? New songs? New covers?
I mean - not a thing is out there. And Adam is . . . . where is Adam???? He can't spend all his time by the pool, applying makeup!!
Whataya think?? Can't fucking wait for Quebec!!! What will we find???
