Hmm question, for that 5 album deal, isn't that for his record label, ie RCA and not 19E or 19R? And if it's for 19E or 19R, is that only studio albums of new material and not remakes of his albums, meaning only his first studio album FYE, and 2nd TBA? And if not does his FYE, FYE Remixes, IIHY Remixes, Accoustic CD, and the LiveDVD count towards that 5 album deal, and if so can he get out now? And if so that's pretty smart to release all of those CDs A lot of questions, I hope it all makes sense.. The Idol artist have a special deal with 19 Entertainment. Adam's record contract is with 19 R -- AKA 19 Recordings. 19R licenses their artists to a recording label. As part of that license Adam has an underlying contract with RCA Records for 5 studio albums, FYE was the first. I do not recall the clock on the 19R part of the Idol agreement but think it is 5 albums or 7 years, plus a royalty share for 10 years. I am certain someone here remembers. The RCA contract is for 5 studio albums -- FYE is a studio album, GNL is not. It is an extra project. If RCA [foolishly] dropped Adam, he would still be signed to 19 Recordings. So if he signed to Universal for his next album, it would still be thru 19 Recordings. The Idol-Sony contracts are some of the richest new artist contracts out there -- meaning the advances are very large. Sony is paying for the benefit of the Idol promotion and the value of starting with a new artist who is already famous. Based on the 19E public filings and the contracts that were filed with the courts, the way it works is that RCA pays 19E an advance for their artists, and then 19E pays the advance to the artist and keeps a piece. Even with that, the Idols get big advances. The Idol Sony artists get a standard royalty rate, but 19 R also gets a royalty from RCA. Once again, Sony is paying for the benefit of the Idol promotion and the value of starting with a new artist who is already famous. The Idol contract has different timeframes for different functions -- and some optional parts of the contract. This contractually arrangement is not new or exclusive to Idol. It applies to all the reality TV shows and all of Simon Cowel's shows -- like X-Factor, AGT, etc. _______ The stuff happening at 19 and XIX is more interesting than the recording contracts. May 11, 2011 -- CKX, the US entertainment company behind American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, has been acquired by private equity firm Apollo Global Management in a deal worth $509m.
CKX, which acquired Simon Fuller's previous company 19 Entertainment in 2005, has agreed a $5.50-a-share deal to buy the company. The company, which is recommending that shareholders approve the deal, also owns rights to the likeness and names of Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali.This was the last chapter in the Simon Fuller and 19 Entertainment story. - He founded the company. - Sold it to CKX and became CEO. - He was pushed out of CKX but negotiated a great contract ir.ckx.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=437624- In 2010 when Fuller started his new management company XIX. - In May 2011 Fuller lost out to Global in his attempt to take over CKX again. The CKX board rejected Fuller's bid and selected Global.

Good morning! Wow! That play SLEEP NO MORE really sounds interesting! I would love to experience something like that. And as long as Adam is happy and he gets to create music, video, and tours that he wants, I'm good with whoever he chooses to work with as his management team!

I think most recording artists have scrambled brain cells too.
There are so many people who get a piece of the pie -- that sometimes the artist doesn't even end up with a plate, forget about a slice. And they don't even realize it.

Scrambles mine even more, I don't understand a word of it, but I read it, nod to myself and marvel at all those that do understand it!! LOL I enjoy my blissful ignorance re: same, I can just keep flailing away at the voice/pretty pics/concerts /you guys and your awesomeness. It is one less thing for me to worry about If he's happy (and he appears to be) I am happy....I'm simple like that.
