OT but I brought out some of my own old vinyl LP's(from Pre-Teen through HS :... I'm old : that I've decided to frame and put them up in a music section of my computer/exercise room and I went to some thrift/antique/memorabilia places to get more and, I just have to say, I WANT TO SEE ADAM'S GORGEOUS FACE WITH ONE OF THESE COVERS!! Guess I'll never get to see that. But I thought I remember somebody here saying that sometimes they'll do one as a special collectors edition. I saw one for GaGa...can't remember for what album. Do they do this type of promotion sometimes?

OMG it sounds like the singers are indentured servants.. Hope Adam had his lawyer with him when he got signed. Ya know every time Adam does a life time portrait,i.e. VH1 ,the whole out gay singer starts all over again. I agree that it's great for kids who have been bullied or kafutzed about life in general. I'm just wondering if Adam will ever just be the great singer.. without the labels. The media was starting to introduce stories about Adam as the Grammy nominated singer, the GNT singer ,etc. and now back to the beginning. There are so many gay people in the entertainment industry and they are not stereotyped.. is their hope for Adam? I really don't think it is back to the beginning. Yes, a lot of press about BTM is focusing on the gay but that is what the preview clips focused on so it is in line with that. If the preview clips hadn't been about that and they brought it up then I'd agree with you. The majority of the items using the "openly gay" tag are LGBT press for which that is a legitimate tag because they are highlighting his visibility. The mainstream articles not about the BTM episode have not labeled him. Example, the Hollywood Reporter article about him leaving his management company did not mention the gay at all. I think it is very important that we pay close attention to the context in which the label is used and don't go off half cocked blasting everything. There are times when the label is legitimate and necessary.

But, BTM is for a wider audience than cray Adam fans. And the design of the program is not on the music, but on what else (controversial) has gone on in the artist's life to make them who they are. I am sure Adam knew that going in. His people talked to their people about what would be asked, discussed, shown, and eliminated. They had free access to much of Adam's childhood materials, obviously provided by Adam or mom, with Adam's permission. Adam chose what to talk about and how to talk about it. He also saw the final program, and probably some drafts along the way, and was pleased with it. Therefore, I have to assume that Adam is fine with the discussion of "gay" in that context, and sees it as a way to be more visible to youth. I believe there will be time in the future for a music special. He's gonna be around for a long time, and after album #2 comes out, the focus will be squarely on what a great singer/performer/composer he is. I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy Sunday evening.

As far as gay blogs and magazines,I'm just so happy that they are giving Adam the recognition he so deserves. It took them a while to embrace him. In my heart though I can't help but want Adam introductions to be more like, the incredible voice of Adam Lambert and/or the Grammy nominee,Adam Lambert.I know we have covered this subject before, but I guess I had to share what I'm feeling. Hope Y'all don't mind.

Having read through all the posts here and on other boards about Adam's change of management...I think I'm going to conclude that it's a good thing. All I know for sure is, I trust Adam's judgement where his own career is concerned.
OT - but I've just recently started "coming out" as a full-on Adam stan to my friends and family :-)...and had no idea that my mother is a fan as well. I know she's always admired Adam, and has always been a vocal defender of him whenever the AMAs are raised, but beyond that...my mother is 62 and doensn't care to learn how to use the internet, and has no interest in music. So, imagine my surprise when, at a family birthday party at our house last night (my aunt), my mother, out of hte blue, says..."show us some Adam videos from your concert!!" Um..OK!!
We have a bluray, which means we can watch youtube on our flat screen in the family room, complete with surround sound...so I called up the TALC videos and we were off and running!! I think I just converted 6 women into Adamland, ages 20-70, :-). They LOVED him. Everyone knew who he was, of course, and the 26 year old was already a fan, but it was so much fun to indulge in Adamstanning with a group instead of online only. My mother thinks he's smoking hot. In her words, he reminds her of Elvis, in looks, in charisma, in "naughtiness", but she admits he blows Elvis away vocally.
I forsee much video viewing with my mom in the future. :-)

In my extended family I still have people who say they would like him if he wasn't so gay. grrrr :(

Awww, great story! Fun to find Adam fans to share with and right in your own family! But please don't base your assessment of all 62 year olds love of internet and music on your mom's. Lots of 60+ ladies on this board that are 25 at heart. And, I'll bet your mom is too! There's a freedom that comes around age 50, that most younguns just don't realize because they think it is "old." But with the kids raised and on their own, it is a time that many women of a certain age FINALLY get back to being the self they were before family had to come first. It's a beautiful thing! Take your mom to a concert, I'll bet you guys will have a ball and you'll see a side of her that you never knew existed!
