Oh too sad. Thankfully I don't have family members with that attitude because there is a gay in my extended family. But I'm sure some of my friends fell that way. I don't discuss Adam with them because I fear that I will lose my cool if I hear that response. Does anyone know the source for this amazing photo? It was in the tweet on p. 1 for the Equality Awards. I LOVE IT!!!

Well, my (maybe unpopular) opinion is that it's more than the "youth" that needs schoolin' in the U.S., and the BTM is an excellent opportunity for Adam to be part of that education. Just from the comments here it's obvious that there are plenty of adults who won't give Adam the time of day or his music a listen because of his orientation.
No, I don't actually think it sucks that Adam has to have his sexuality put under the microscope. He chose this, and he's strong enough to take it. If by being open and honest and vulnerable and unashamed he can get people past their fears and misconceptions, this is the best possible thing. The BTM gives Adam a chance to say with his own words what he thinks and how he feels. This is not an exploitative unauthorized bio, but one done with Adam's input and featuring his family and friends and colleagues. If Adam didn't think it was a good thing, he could have said no to it. And yes, I fully expect 17 zillion articles next week highlighting various parts of the program, and a lot of that will be about his sexuality.
Think about what mainstream America has had in terms of openly gay men until recently: NPH. And he's fine, but he plays a straight guy on TV, and is as non-threatening as it is possible to be. You look at NPH and your mind does not go to gay sex, lol. So he's safe.
Unless Adam tones it down a lot , he is always going to be more challenging for people, both gay and straight. And when someone is that open and that edgy, it's going to attract attention (and hate, of course). Thing is, toned-down is not what Adam is doing, and not what he wants to be, and more power to him. We'll never know if a less-gay Adam could/would sell X% more albums or get X more appearances or whatever.
But who cares? Adam is Adam, and I love every part of who he is and I admire his bravery in everything he does.
OMG such a long ramble, I'll shut up now, lol.

As a 62 year old Adam fan, I can attest to this personally. I couldn't survive a day without the internet and music and live performances make me come alive, especially from Adam. The "younguns" forget that we were raised on rock n roll.
