I had trouble for two days, emailed Tim again this am. He said to call him wich I did. First off I want to say what a gentleman he is and so easy to talk to. Seems like we were neighbors for a while. He from Minnesota and I'm here in Wisconsin. Anyway of course it was me not his site. I felt so stupid but he just laughed and said it happens! Anyway GREAT GUY

Nice discussion guys I wish we could get rid of labels and just say human sexuality is fluid and we all fall on a spectrum from gay to straight. It'd make life easier without all the constant hassles of labels and the stigma that comes from them; as well as the confusion. Moreover I agree with points made by murly and NoAngel homophobia and misogyny come hand in hand due to patriarchal, hetero-normative, sociocultural/societal enculturation. Yes!! that just makes such much more sense. We love who we love. Human sexuality is fluid. I see in younger generations more acceptance of this, but the pervasive belief is that we must all choose and put a label upon ourselves and wear it for all to see.

gelly - cool smiley, man. and thanks for that blast from the past!! I love that picture. Brings back memories of an obsessed summer of Adam madness. Videos every morning over tea and always a desire for more Adam. 20 minutes was just a tease!

The (L)Out Magazine Gate discussion has churned up some recurring, random thoughts I have about AFL; who he is as a person; who he is to me and other fans and who he is to the public. The thoughts truly are random and I don't have time :-/ (damn rl sometimes) to write a beautiful essay (looking at you Q3 and noangel), so I thought I'd just throw them out there in bullet point fashion. So for what it's worth: 8-) - AFL hit me like a meteor. I have NEVER stanned anyone this way before - short of falling in love in rl.
- This infatuation with him is like being newly in love and it feels really good. (want to bring him up in every conversation, think about him all the time, protective of him, makes me "swoon" etc.) But easier on my homelife than having an affair!
- Why did this happen? I never saw it coming - but it sure has made life more interesting.
- I thought the "crush" would dissipate by now. Uh, that's a NO.
- I'm convinced that Adam has "earned" his current level of confidence by staying positive as much as possible even with what must have been an overwhelming amount of disapproval, skepticism and patronizing indulgence throughout his life. (Case in point before Idol: interviewed about his Zodiac Costume - he accepted the edict that he could not have flames and was already formulating his next plan. LOL)
- His confidence and ability to deflect negative reaction help him to be so brave in his choices -
almost to the point of testing his limits - screw the outcome. (Ring of Fire as early as the Top 11 show, FYE for 1st single, Details Magazine, AMA routine, Rock This Town - black lipstick etc., Fantasy Springs - 1st solo concert he decides to dress very feminine and ethereal or you might say as a weird, fucking, fag!)
- I think the fact that he could do the glitter and glam to his heart's content without losing (actually gaining) fans has freed him to actually not have to "test" the fan base but truly be as out there or conservative as he wants to be. It won't matter. That must feel wonderful to him. I hope it feels that way.
- I think it's ironic that people are snide about Adam and his female fans when gay guys are falling all over straight women pop stars. The publications that are cool to Adam, rave about GaGa, Kathy Griffin etc. That's okay, but don't they see the irony?
- If Adam has truly agreed to be in Out Magazine, Hicklin will NOT allow an overly positive commentary. At best it will be neutral and more likely it will be snarky (sorry Neil, it seems to be a word now) and brief. Not enough to cause an uproar, but not too much like eating crow either. Hope I'm wrong but it seems to be the way After Elton is treating most things Adam, from what I can see.
- I am really enjoying the idea of Out having to be nice and coax Adam back. ;D
- Gotta go so I won't go on and on about how he's ruined all other singers for me, broke Idol, has the best boyfriend I ever could have imagined for him, how accomplished and smart his fans are, etc., etc., etc.
I know none of this is new or profound. I think the one point I make that I haven't seen discussed before it that I really do think he is so immune to disapproval and so used to it, that he really did TEST us up until now (maybe not consciously but nevertheless). I don't mean he wasn't being true to himself. No, he was being true to his most freaky self, not willing to compromise anything for acceptance. Why can't the gay community (whatever that is) applaud that? And, while they're at it, why don't they applaud the fans for accepting it all? Okay, stepping off now.

[quote author=susiefierce board=daily thread=449 post=85225 time=1313947887 Love this quote from the second one; from the editor of Frontiers: Adam ended up giving us a great story, more like a conversation than a stuffy interview. He was really kind and seems to be a really genuine guy. I believed everything that came out of his mouth.
[/quote] Found the original interview - the story link didn't work. www.frontiersla.com/Features/Exclusive-Interviews/Story.aspx?id=1239415Lol at making sure they got his pretty boy preference 20-25 age range in at the end. It's just like him to wish something into actually happening.

I loved Stoinfinity’s post because I spent the last hour or so watching the River Rock videos and I remember so clearly how at the time I analyzed every move he made and worried if it was “too gay” and if it was going to impact his career. I was so invested that the thought of him not being successful broke my heart. Now I can laugh no matter what he does because he really has earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants and be whoever he wants and if people can’t accept it, their loss. It’s all about respect and Adam has gained that from so many quarters.
