this comment has finally brought me out of lurkdom.
Jealousy means that in some way you think that you have a shot with Adam, romantically, which as Adam said "unless you've got surprise under that skirt it ain't happening". You "share" Adam with every other fan he has and that's as much as we're ever going to have from Adam, regardless of who he's dating.
Now my opinion on the dating habits of AFL:
As people grow and develope their tastes in romantic partners usually changes as well. The things we are willing to accept or desire at 20 aren't even remotely similar to what we accept and desire at 29. Sometimes people are lucky to find someone who can grow and change with them but most of the time as we evolve as people, so do our relationships.
Based on what my
inexpert opinion the relationships have all served very specific and useful purposes in Adam's life:
Brad was Adam's first love. They discovered love together. they had fun and learned a lot. enough, it seems that they were able to move forward and forge a friendship more meaningful to them perhaps than their romantic relationship did. This was the groundwork for Adam to be able to love openly and fully.
Drake, from what I saw was a transitional relationship. Adam's life was in transition and Drake provided the stability and familiarity he probably needed at that time. They've remained friends but I've never seen evidence or heard Adam speak of Drake as if he were someone more than a short term boyfriend whom he found he cared more for as a friend than a lover.
Sauli is very together in his own right. They are on equal footing. Sauli has fame in his own right and knows what Adam is going through. He doesn't seem to need coddling or extra assurances from Adam and vice versa. This is what makes this relationship probably more mature and stable than his previous relationships. There isn't an imbalance of power here.
I see all three, Brad, Drake and Sauli, more as an evolution of the same type of man which Adam is attracted too: fun, creative, sensitive, beautiful, and intelligent. Adam has good taste in men.
