I think the Philymack move is a good one for Adam. He seems to be shaking things up. All the hints about expanding his brand to include something other than just pop (he always has but no one but fans ever hear it) with real instruments, more organic and with some Queen influence is a really smart and mature move. If he ever wants to get in the nomination game, he has to position himself out of the Camilla, Puth, Demi, Mendes, Gomez, 1D, and Ariana lane. DNCE is pop with rock elements. Band Perry, Cord and Iggy are not as pop as Demi/Nick (who still appeal to the teen audience) so Adam should be in good company with this new management. They don't seem to try to make all their artists have the same vibe. I want Adam to always be Adam but hopefully he will be competing with the Adele's, Sam's, Legends, and Sheeran's (mature/deeper but in an Adam more exciting way). They are not only depending on, or trying to appeal to the club audience and kids, but they are filling up those arenas just like the teen appealing acts. And my guess is with the moves Adam is making, it will not be business as usual and that is a good thing, imo. Change is good. You said that perfectly, esp. the part of Adam not being lumped in with the Demi, Gomez, etc. crowd. He's a much better fit with Adele, SS, etc. And as much as I sometimes put down the "awards" thing, I know that they DO matter. If you have a few awards under your belt, you have credibility and a greater chance of broadening your opportunities. Adam is never in the "awards" mix, although he's as good as anyone out there. It's all about marketing and promo. Hope Phily has some creative ideas for Adam so that he's out there being noticed. His talents have to be tapped. I think it's a good move. Adam obviously thinks so. WOW you guys know so much about the record/music industry.. Amazing!!!!! IMHO Demi has a much better voice than Adele and she is gaining popularity by the minute. She is also a friend of Adams and she is no longer a teen act .... . I think Adam knows how to manage his career..He hasn't made millions by being unaware of the business he is in.

And who said that Adam did not know how to manage his career? Adam has said himself that he was moving away from dance/pop and some of us think that is a good thing. Only stating that he could get top 40 play even if he moves from that. There was no negativity. But if we are not allowed to give any opinions or support then I guess you will be the only one allowed to comment, lol.

cassie Watching the JCS advertisement last night, it struck me that they were wearing headset microphones. That got me to thinking that if Adam had got the part, I'm guessing he would have to restrain his singing a bit. I don't remember him wearing one of those microphones in RHPS, so how was that taped? I didn't get the feeling that he was dialing down that performance. RHPS songs were recorded in studio -- it was not live. JCS will be done live. They don't need the headset for that -- I think that is to make it look "cool."

That said - Adam is going to manage his career they way he wants. It is the one constant so far. ** Regarding Top 40 -- there is so much variety that it's hard to categorize what is getting airplay. But whatever else, the money in music is shifting rapidly to streaming media -- up 43% last year. And that is probably more important than radio now. My hope for Adam is that he has at least one meaningful collaboration in the works.

Thanks, Q3! I have been digging around a bit to learn more about Philymack and I think this was a really smart pick on Adam's part. I think it confirms that he remains committed to contemporary pop music and radio -- because that is the only way this make sense. Also, I think this explains how A4 was close to done and then Adam was back in studio recording. Lots to speculate about now. *** Also, I can now hope for a collaboration between Adam and The Band Perry -- so my old "dream" of an Adam Lambert country album may actually happen. Again, thanks for "digging around" and sharing, and for asserting us that the Philymack move looks like a good one! Our aspirations and dreams and speculations will continue...

And before that can happen, Adam needs to put out some new music and it needs to be popular or great or both. >> We have a wildcard out there because Adam does have a song and maybe more in the Playmobile movie. And movie songs have a shot at a whole different set of very high profile awards.

I am fine if Adam is "lumped in" with Demi. [After the last SS album -- blah, Adam + Sam Smith, not so much.] Demi and Nick Jonas are primarily Pop and Pop Rock actually close to where Adam has been and appears to be now. Demi is 25, Nick is also 25. Both now have adult fans so I am not sure about the "teen" categorization. Their fans were teens in 2008 but it's 10 years later. That 14 year old is now 24. I went to one of their concerts in 2016, some young fans but mostly 20 somethings, and mostly girls/young women. That was 2 years ago. Usually in music, fans get older, not younger. Look at Katy Perry's last tour, her "kitty kats" look sort of silly now. JMHO but 30 year old women should hang up the kitty kat ears until they turn 60. In any case, I hope they promote Adam like they did Nick Jonas on his relaunch -- a single sent to Pop radio (with Tove Lo) and a signal sent to Rhythmic radio the next day (with Ty Dolla $ign) -- not necessarily a Rhythmic tract for Adam, just meaning a multi-genre assault. Aggressive on multiple fronts.

The one word in recent Adam interviews that has struck me in the most positive way is the word AUTHENTICITY. Plus, the fact that I haven't read anywhere that he is trying to follow "trends" makes me most hopeful for music that connects and sticks. Add to that the idea of an organic sound with more instruments ... gahhh. I wish I could pull up that one recent interview which was liked by many here.

@weirdcuneiform: the first gay artist that young me heard was adam lambert and honestly his album “for your entertainment” still holds a really special place in my heart for that reason, besides just being an album comprised almost entirely of grade-A bops

Aggressive on multiple fronts. And this is what I don't get. Why is it okay for some to voice opinions and wishes without being accused of trying to manage Adam's career or tell him what to do? Of course we all know he will do what he wants. All I have ever expressed was that I hope they don't limit Adam to pop cause I think he has more to offer and would fit on some other formats as well. The more the better. Now, I'm not a fan of Demi (voice is too shrill for my taste) or Nick's but I don't need to be (or care that Demi is his friend) in order to support and want the best for Adam. I really don't see Adam as a Nick or Demi but would love to see him get their level of promotion and exposure with whatever he puts out. Adam said more organic and authentic with his new work and I don't see either of them as that. But that could be just me, lol. Don't see him as an Adele, Ed or Sam either but they sure have a wide audience without only appealing to the teen set for the most part. Adam has long moved past getting a huge teen and tween audience like the younger pop stars.
