Checking in from London and feels strange to be posting when it is already quite late here.
Anyway, had a very successful meeting so all those long hours paid off.
After the meeting, we had a quick lunch at one of the restaurants at the Victoria Station since one of my colleagues had to take a train. At the restaurant, we were busy talking and not really paying attention to the background music, but then the familiar strains of WWFM came on, I stopped and it must have been an audible gasp because everyone looked at me and asked if everything was all right. I smiled and said, "You bet!" So nice to hear BB in London!
The rest of the afternoon was spent walking in the area around Buckingham, the Parliament, etc. We must have walked for at least 3.5 hours but I didn't care. It was a beautiful, warm sunny afternoon but all the time I was thinking, "did Adam walk around these same places when he was here a few months ago? " It's hard to believe that in spite of the great milestone we have achieved on the project I am working on, all I can think of is Adam. Such an obsessed fan but I am happy and blessed to be one.

Besides SuBo's back story I think there's something else she has going for her - her voice is pleasant. Not great by any means but pleasant and easy to listen to. I would never buy her music but I did hear some of the cuts from her first album and I found her voice pleasing. I'm sure it appeals to older, conservative people who want safe and nostalgic and perhaps are tired of the few artists still recording this kind of music. I'm also going to stick up for "old fashioned" standards. There are thousands of great standards that are not the over-done, run-of-the-mill ones that are constantly being re-recorded by contemporary artists. Fantastic songs that will live forever and that most stuff today will never equal. Ok - now that I've pissed off many of you I'll agree that in no way do I want Adam recording this kind of music NOW. Maybe later, after he's had a highly successful pop career. I don't think he needs to confuse people with who he is as an artist.

If you want to make sure that you're walking to the streets that Adam walked, try Soho and West End. ;D Oh and Oxford Str. We saw him there at his promo tour shopping. ;D

I get what you are saying, too, mszue.
Right now, I know that Adam wants to make his own music. What young artist would choose otherwise?
But sometime in the future, I would LOVE him to choose his 12 favorite rock songs, 12 favorite songs from musical theater, and maybe even 12 favorites from jazz and Adamize them. I would wear out these CDs.
By the way, everyone, outstanding threads the last few days!I've learned a lot from some of you, and seen my thoughts (albeit more articulately expressed) from others.

I don't think he needs to confuse people with who he is as an artist. I think you've made a key point here, Jazzrocks. We can definitely all agree that Adam's voice is versatile enough that he could do justice to a variety of genres, and some of us have not-so-secret wishes that he would record an album in our favorite genre. At this moment, though, with only one album out, this is the time for him to define and promote himself in his preferred genre. If he wants a pop career, which has been pretty well confirmed, then that's what he needs to put out there right now. Once he's established and built the success he desires, he can certainly branch out in whatever direction suits his fancy. I'll bet that some of the not-so-secret wishes we have will be fulfilled, someday down the road. Although I'm not holding my breath that Adam will record an album of Celtic fusion... :-/ LOL

Gelly, unfortunatley I am going back to the US early tomorrow morning. Got here yesterday, worked the whole day, had our meeting this morning. So this afternoon was the only free time I had. I did get to catch up on my Adam listening on the long flight over and again tomorrow. It never ceases to amaze me that I still react to his voice the way I did 2 years ago. It seems like it's always the first time with him!
