[laugh] Actually that tent-within-a-tent setup in that Adam/Neil/Brad photgraph looked pretty cool to me.
I like tents....as long as there aren't any large toothed beasties around. My husband and I went camping for our honeymoon in the Everglades (don't ask), but the 6-foot long alligator hanging out 5 feet behind our tent one morning cut short the "roughing" aspect of things. ;D
As there is apparently a dearth of natural wildlife at BM, tents shouldn't be a problem!

NoAngel, *slap* Snap out of it! Where has "talking sense into ourselves" ever got us? Yes, we have our sane, responsible, workaday lives where we opt for sometimes rewarding careers and steady paychecks and relegate the Burning Man (or woman) – the Artist Within – to be a hobby ... a lark ... something we do for ourselves when we're not stanning AFL fulltime. (Erm, when is that anymore?? :-/) Or it's a "pipe dream" that we've long buried and given up on pursuing because Real Life has taken over. We can do it. I have a feeling that the extremity of the situation adds the stripping of the shells – and the souls. That which is irrelevant becomes truly irrelevant. You burn from within and without and learn that we can survive when we've abandoned all our superficial wants, needs and conveniences. I'm in!! Woo Hoo!! Let the wild rumpus begin! We have a long way to go. Months of thoughts and questions and planning and doubt. Que sera, sera. It's gonna be a roller coaster of a ride. We've done this before! Thank you, NoAngel, for beginning the thread. No worries, no expectations, no promises. It will go where it goes. The questions and comments from all Adamtopians have made my journey one that's yielded richness and self-discovery beyond what I could have imagined. I've picked up jewels along the way. For now, enjoy all the photos and videos you can find. I hope my DH and I will be posting some soon - showing our 'MASH' unit, the Trojan Horse, and Playa experiences. We'll see. Just want you all, each of you, to know, your interest and questions and understanding and awe is a validation. I will do what I will do; I am meant to do what I do. I can't help it. Adam found direction in the stars above Burning Man. So have I . So, maybe, will you. Like Susie Fierce said, it strips us bare. I just love you all to pieces! momtomany

Maybe Burning Man needs a Camp Adamtopia??? I would love to go as well but would never manage it without "knowing" someone but I'd sure be up for a group of us going. Should we maybe set up a Burner section on the blog here and continue discussing it? YES, YES, YES to this idea. I would LOVE to go to BM So much of my early (and current) life ideals seem to be a part of this wonderful coming together of kindred spirits. It would be awesome to have a 'Camp Adamatopia' but what if we had a whole quadrant/section on the BM grid that folk were jointly brought together worldwide by their berting of Adamland????? I 'love' roughing it, but my camping experiences are solely curtailed to gorgeous NZ bush and beaches : (yeah I know - tough) and not dry, dusty, hot lake beds. However, from what I've seen of BM, well it just makes me yearn for that incredible 'freedom' that BM embodies, and some discomfort, difficult living conditions for a short period of time, to me, is acceptable. BUT, in saying that, a quick zip around the 'net' shows me that there are alternatives that involve some comfort levels for more 'mature' bodies...lol I would love to do BM maybe not next year (won't Adam be touring then???), but the year after and I figure you can still do it in comfort. Works for me This link is actually about BM RV rentals for BM \o/ www.usarvrentals.com/blog/2010/08/27/burning-man-motorhome-rv-rentals/ O good grief!! haha...this does somehow seem to defeat the whole ethos of the place does it not??? hahaha. I definitely see the benefits of a communal 'comfort oasis' though..good idea.....I figure a memory foam will go a long way to making things bearable. And lots of those silicone neck wrap thingies.... We can go with a silver amongs the gold mui-mui and lollipops theme so we can all run about like Casper's in our hole in one sheets!!! yay!!

So...I grew up camping with my family and then spent two summers working in a campground during college and haven't wanted to camp since. I have asthma, lived in AZ for 5 years and hated it there, despise dust and deserts, and hate feeling dirty and dusty (I used to tell people that being stuck in an AZ dust storm was like having a full-body dermabrasion). I Okay, having said all the above, I have wanted to attend BM for a long time and am an artistic performer who has not been doing art or performance for some time. I feel like my soul has been in hiding and Adam (and this community) have helped to open it up again. I really plan to attend BM in 2012 in spite of everything in the 1st paragraph, and look forward to being opened up to the universe! Whether I end up in a tent or an RV is another question...

In the days, weeks, and months to come we'll all have opportunities to explore the forbidden possibility, the hidden opportunity, the absolute never-maybe of an adventure that exists out-of-the-box. Consider it! A thought of something new is renewal in itself. momtomany Momtomany, I love your gorgeous, inspiring writing. As I read your words, they transcend Burning Man and sound to me as though the universe is speaking its wisdom through you!

Oh I would be so in. I envision the RV as commune central. Fridge runs off propane, so have ice food, drinks. Will tote in about 30 gallons of water for washing, and bathroom use. (Momtomany there is a chemical you use which eliminates odor.) You don’t drink out of the tank water so need many gallons of fresh water. I know how to drive an RV, run the generator if we want but really would not be necessary. I can handle minor repairs etc. So I could be wagon master? We need tents to surround the RV with air mattress and battery lanterns. No matter what anyone tells you an RV will only sleep 3 with comfort but it would be great to rest in during the day and use generator/AC if we get a heat stroke. We could have “tribe” clothes like Lawrence of Arabia and made of the lightest but protective fabric (I burn ) but they would need decoration. Gold coins on a belt? Eye of Houris? Lots of keys?

I couldn't go to sleep. I kept doing an inventory of the tents, cots, camp chairs, propane stoves, etc. that I thought were just wasting space in my garage but maybe not. LOL.
