Damn, I was just gonna take a few bites of my decadent Belgian chocolate gelato. I finished the whole pint reading thru this thread. Amy made me a little angsty, but now I am somewhat relieved. But I have a feeling there is some head butting going on. I agree re: the head butting, but that's JMHO. Re: worries - my mother used to tell me all the time that the things I worried and fretted over the most were the very things that 99.9% of the time never happened---and she was right. But when I am worried/angsty/disappointed, blah blah blah....I have to vent and get it out of my system. It's the only way I can clear my head. So, this poster commited boardicide because people weren't agreeing with her suggestions of how they should feel? : Keep pumping those questions to Amy, she likes to talk!  No. I think that she left cause she thought the angst was too much drama, which she said that she doesn't need at this time, not so much as quitting cause of feeling that people don't agree with her :-/ People just seems to be too quick to put people down. I'll miss PH. She had some great posts, and interesting insights. Always sad to see board members go :( Too much drama? Just come back in a day or two or even a week! The fact that Adam announced in the middle of the night that his album is coming out months after we were hoping for is going to create a little angst and worry. It is pretty much typical behavior. I also appreciated PH's posts. She seemed like someone who kept up with current trends and was familiar with other pop artists outside of Adam. I always enjoy her posts over at TWOP. I'm sorry that she couldn't handle the drama- seems like she had drama over the drama. It's too bad that she didn't just take a break. :( |

I’m more of a reader than poster these days, but I’d like to chime in on the news of the album delay. I’m more encouraged by the confirmation (nearly solid) of the first single release in October. Singles generate the activities I enjoy most: TV appearances, interviews, a music video (with good play on VH-1), print and on line articles, radio play (and all the number watching/dissecting that goes along with that), and one-off performances like Jingle Balls. Because the single will have a coordinated international release date, we will also have all the great international promo to enjoy. It’s most likely that there will be a single (and possible two) getting radio play until the album drops. It’s the best way to promote an album that is being released worldwide. I’m soooo ready for this cycle to start that I could eat a jar of homemade Nutella. I have a recipe for that so maybe I should go find the correct thread and put it there for anyone else who wants to use it as a fill-in for the real fix (kinda like methadone  ;D). |

As far as single sales vs album sales, album sales are always better or more desirable. 1 million in album sales will get the artists close to a million dollars. I have always heard 90 cents to $1 per album for the artist. If the artist also writes, the cut is a bit more.
1 million in single sales gets the artist about $100,000, 10 cents per download.
That is a huge difference! Of course, the hope is that a successful single will drive the sales of the album. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

OH. DEAR. GOD. 2012 ???????I can't even read this thread....... [kicks out a bucket of black licorice lollies; stalks off site]  I KNOW!! but njoytheride has a point. Maybe there will be two singles before the release. and appearances, and promos and lalalalalala. And I haven't read the thread either. Not angsting, just irritated at the delay. I'm really glad I have a concert to look forward to tonight. My friend is getting my partner and I in to see Santana for FREE at ACL Live! a new cool venue downtown and, thanks the msquisty, I've got a ticket to the Austin City Limits Festival this weekend where Stevie Wonder is headlining. So imma go do that for awhile, enjoy some other tunes and continue waiting as patiently as possible. |
