Whew! Just finished the thread, and I'm thoroughly depleted in a good way! Reihmer, the roller coaster is a great representation of my journey. I love roller coasters! I knew about the delay early this morning and felt a little disappointed for myself and our fandom but didn't have much time to give it much thought at work.
I raced home and grabbed some snacks, including my stash of chocolate sorbet. (I wonder how much chocolate was consumed today by fans? I noted massive consumption on Atop alone!)
Anyway, I love the relative safety of this place where we can express just about anything, be countered by an equally valid point and still feel okay with our process and that of others. I may not post a lot, but I'm always here engaging in active listening. There were such excellent points and counterpoints today interspersed with great humor. Waiting for the single and album would be even more excruciating without all of you!

vivlite, it could all be done by Adam too. He could tweet updates like Chris Daughtry does. It doesn't have to even be specific things about specific songs, just general things, would be nice. We think Adam tweets a lot, but the tweets that are actually about him are far and few between. I understand how you feel though. Today I am very tired. Hang in there! ETA: Just wondreing if anyone has been over to AO? Is RCA Ed's head ready to explode? Yes, I agree, Mys*&@^#r. I thought of Daughtry immediately. Thanks! And Smokeyvera, I went back and watched the vid of Justin Timberlake fans. The comatose girl with the doctor..that be me Just so you all know, I am not a drama queen by nature. Something really has to get to me to respond as I have today. You have all been very kind not to judge me. This stanning business really is exhausting!! I don't even want to think what would happen if Adam took a 5-year hiatus.

Vivlite, I hear you. That's what I was saying yesterday – the not knowing is the most stressful part. Well, he called my shit on that one and gave me what I said I wanted. He just didn't give me the answer I wanted. But it IS better to know than not know and once we laugh, cry and come to terms, we'll deal. I get that he wanted to keep things secret probably in hopes of avoiding A LOT of this type of thing, or tons of questions about the 30+ tracks that will never make the CD, or the ability to change his mind if the album started going in a different direction, but I just don't know if that's possible in these days of immediate, worldwide connectivity. It's like you can't go half way with providing information, you end up fueling the fire of speculation. RCA, Sony and Adam all utilize Twitter to market and communicate with fans and patrons, so they are part of that information machine as well. I agree that clear, concise updates to build buzz and manage expectations would be very helpful. Telling invested fans nothing doesn't abate our interest; it tends to incite angst. Since it seems they have all but dropped utilizing ALF as a conduit for communication and AO has always been a little useless. (LOL, I'm sure Ed avoided logging in like the plague today ) Twitter is all we've got.

From lurking there today it doesn't seem like most posters have really jumped onto commenting about it and/or don't seem to have read enough about the music industry to be worried about January, for example. They are just excited about the single. I don't think they have had the hints and expectations built about a November release that parts of twitter, here, and certain other fan areas have. One or two users withdrew quietly though due to the wait.

Whew! Lots of stuff to get through today. I hope everyone finds a peaceful place to wait for the next wave.
When I read Adam's news about the 2012 release, I wasn't surprised at all. I was terribly disappointed but not surprised at all. I was really hoping that the single would be released this month so it could be eligible for a Grammy. Now he won't have any new music eligible this year. I know this has been discussed here before but for the life of me I can't remember the answer--can Accoustic Live! be nominated for a Grammy this year?
Regarding Eber's twitter advice to Adam about going with his gut and defending it, I just hope that Adam doesn't over-think things and picks his battles wisely.
If he doesn't release the album til early 2012, does that mean that he may not tour until Fall?

AO has been relatively quiet and I haven't seen a post from Ed unless there was a huge thread posted earlier and he deleted it. For the most part, they are just excited about the single coming out next month-ish. There's been more posting about the delay in here and on MJ's.
