ITA -- I think it is interesting that one of the consistent topics in Idol for two seasons has been ____________ is like Adam Last year it was Shioban, this year James. They do not get it -- just because someone can hit high notes doesn't make them Adam. I think this is very telling. I don't hear ______ is like Kris Allen, or David Cook, or Fantasia. They are all looking for the "next" Adam Lambert. What does that say to Adam's place in Idol lore or pop music or celebrity culture? It is very telling that you don't hear the comparison to Allen, Cook, or Fantasia. You do get comparisons to Clarkson and Carrie and Adam. I guess that just say something about how unique those talents were. On the tone deaf comment I made, you are right. I should know better. I can still recall way back when I played an instrument how I could not believe that people couldn't hear that they were not hitting the right notes. The connection between the brain and auditory canal is not the same for all people. Pitch is not a universal constant. |

Thank you, Atopians, for leavening the snark with a bit of compassion. I haven't heard JD sing.. I don't know if I can bring myself to watch. A good part of Twitter is pretty brutal toward the young man right now, though. The commentary here is, well, more balanced.

Thank you, Atopians, for leavening the snark with a bit of compassion. I haven't heard JD sing.. I don't know if I can bring myself to watch. A good part of Twitter is pretty brutal toward the young man right now, though. The commentary here is, well, more balanced. I don't even want to guess...but I feel bad for the kid for ever even mentioning Adam's name. He means it as a form of flattery to Adam, he obviously likes him, and I'll bet he couldn't foresee the rude shit headed his way. Hope he doesn't read all that crap. His life will be stressful enough just making it through the AI grinder for the next few months. |

That will be easier to do if he stops comparing himself to Adam. That would be my advice for him. better for him not to go there with the comparison. ....and perhaps he shouldn't sing the same songs Adam sang on Idol? A Change is Gonna Come....are you kidding me, James? LOL! This is one time I think Simon was needed for a reality check. Forget about Adam comparisons, he was just all over the place. I do feel bad for him for the backlash he will get. He is and Adam fan so he's got good taste at least.  And welcome Lifeguard! We are sorely lacking in new shallow end material during this dry spell, but if your bored, seoulmate and I were reminiscing about the Amsterdam thread on our old site. Or is that just when the Top 12 are picked and they move to the House? Does anyone know if they will be doing Themes this year.. I thought I had heard it would be more like decades instead of actual themes. oh and also next week are they cutting right down to the 12 or are they gonna drag it out? K that's all LOL |

Then at the top right of each page, it says "you have ___ messages." If you click on that, you can get your messages (or send one). I'm going to send you a quick one right now, so you can practice! Btw, not sure if anyone told you yet, but if you bring a pic here you want to use for an avi--or just give someone an idea of what you want to use--the people here are absolutely wonderful about helping peeps get one set up.
