OMG so much to flail about today I don't even know where to start! I've berted so hard it hurts but it's a good pain, ya know? ;D
Just a thought about the whole gay/post-gay discussion. I didn't see it brought up but it makes me think of feminism/post-feminism and I think there are many good parallels to be found. Post-feminists consider themselves to have moved beyond stereotypical gender roles and simply want to BE. They don't want to be forever battling with men but rather simply co-exist on an equal level. They don't always seem to express appreciation for the tough fights that their predecessors have fought, which pisses off the feminists of that era.
Anyway, I do think Adam is post-gay and I like that he identifies with that term. I also think it's all contextual, which the UD does imply. It's a priviledge to be post-gay in a setting where there are many others who are similarly evolved. Post-gay is possible in Weho, for example, and other liberal enclaves. It's not so possible in more conservative parts of the U.S. And completely impossible in a places in the world where homosexuality is crime, I'd think.
I'd really like to hear Adam say more about this. Hopefully a smart interviewer delves into this with him sometime this era. Watching Adam's evolution is a fascinating thing.

Re Rico's tweets~ I thought the songs were akready selected for the album just not the singles. My best guesses: - There are three tracks that Adam is finalizing -- Benny Blanco, Bonnie MacKee and Rico Love -- and one will most likely be selected as the single. - There is no release date for the single, single is still being worked on and not selected -- Late October could happen, November is starting to seem more likely - Album tracks have been selected but may be changed around. And often the bonus tracks and retailer promo bonus tracks are not picked until very late in the process. I am still hoping for 18-22 tracks in total plus remixes and acoustic versions. AND Pharrell Williams FLAIL! FLAIL! FLAIL! ETA: PROB next year for the Tour!!! Is a SQUEE moment. Thanks Q3 for the info. I was assuming Rico already knows that his song has been selected. The tour was to be next year...cause 2013 is just tooo far away ;D Need to read up on Pharrell Williams ASAP!

I love that Adam knows what he wants to do and what he likes, and that he makes that clear in his twitter response to that one fan. It makes me feel there is less chance of him getting pushed around by TPTB. He also seems to want to make it clear that the label is being patient, implying that the release date stems from his choice. Oh, and I am glad he has found love. The tweets to which Adam chooses to respond give insight about what he wants to put out there. Lynne: I think we are sharing a mind! I was just thinking that Adam had hundreds or maybe even thousands of tweet questions to choose to answer. Altho the twitter party was spontaneous, I suspect Adam carefully chose the questions he would answer to convey the messages he wanted fans to hear. 1. I am responsible for when the music is released. I am not being jerked around by the label or anyone else. 2. I am focused on producing a mind-blowing, quality album and singles, not on optimum release dates for sales or for upcoming awards shows. I won't be pressured to release something until I am ready. 3. I am making the album I want to make. I take into consideration all that I have learned in the past couple of years and it influences my decisions, but ultimately, I am making music I like. If you don't, buy the other guy's album. 4. This music is really good! Really good! I am very happy with it. I think you will be, too. 5. I am in love and very happily so. Nope, ain't gonna give you any details, because it is my personal life. So, you can either trust what I say and respect my privacy, or you can continue fantasizing about some fictional Adam you have created in your mind. Adam is one smart dude to use Twitter this way. Think he sits back and waits for the right question to reply too, and throws in some crazy ones for humor!

Kind of interesting things come up when you google "post-gay". I found this radio special about it from a Boston public radio station. There's a link to the actual audio. Is Boston Post-Gay?Boston’s Gay Pride movement turned 40 this weekend. In state that went from 300 years of English puritanical morality to a 100 years of Irish Catholic morality to being the first in the nation to recognize gay marriage, it’s clear what a dramatic impact that movement has had. Today, Pride is a mainstream event, covered by the mainstream press and attended by mainstream politicians. Almost two generations later, have sexual minorities become so integrated into society, at least in a big progressive city like Boston, that being gay is no longer an issue? As the South End becomes more “rich” than “gay,” is Boston’s LGBT community losing its physical headquarters — and does that matter? Does Boston need a Castro district? We’re examining the possibility of post-gay Boston, what has been lost and what has been gained if the gay movement has, indeed, assimilated into the mainstream radioboston.wbur.org/2010/06/14/post-gay-boston

Well it sure has been an interesting 24 hours! Does this mean that Rico Love wrote this song and Adam is only singing it or that he and Adam wrote this song? My favorite tweet was: GlamourStar730 Mariah Michaels @adamlambert I hope the CD's not too Poppy. I dont like dance music adamlambert Adam Lambert @glamourstar730 i do Why would anyone tweet a "pop star" such a question? I loved his answer. Based on the new developments over the past couple of days, I'm more excited than ever for this album. Adam said he is collaborating on every song on the album and I expect he will have a co-write credit on every song on the album. But artist can get a co-write on a song that someone else has written and they modify. For example, on FYE Adam substantially modified Pick U Up and got a co-write credit and associated royalties. Some artists just get a co-write credit for the original songs they record. For example, Elvis has co-write credit on song he did not write. Adam is actually working on all these songs. This could change, or maybe it already has...or hasn't. Kelly Clarkson said she was going to be writing or co-writing all her songs and that didn't end up being the final outcome. Other songs can be added at the last minute. If this is the case, I don't see any reason for it to be a big deal. No one, outside of the FOAs who insist a "singer-songwriter" is the only "true artist", really cares how many song writing credits Adam has on his album. Adam was nominated for a Grammy for a vocal performance on a song he didn't co-write. From a monetary standpoint, it is always good to get as many co-writes as possible, but it is just as important to be able to interpret and present other writer's material. If some of the songs on the second album turn out to be solely written by others, it doesn't mean anything negative in the long run.
