 So, susie... what's your language on twitter??? Dying to know!! ;D Lots of very short phrases and abbreviations. I have to remind myself to spell out Adam here instead of saying A; that's pretty much his name on Twitter. Ofc, S=Sauli. Tho, ur, u ... lotsa slang and exclamations!!!! The gd iPhone spell correct is a pia bcause it doesn't like abbrevs  ;D |

I always miss all the fun, and won't even begin to try to contribute to the many interesting discussions of the past few days, so I'm really sorry for this late flailing--I feel like the chick at the dinner party who finally guffaws at the joke about six minutes later when the convo's already moved way onwards, because she was too slow to get it at first. But I do have to say that my dippily excited grin totes outshines his pleased smile right now, after catching today's twitter party. Geez, Adam, just when I begin to get a grip you gotta go and snatch that healthy sense of RL perspective right outta my weak and trembling little hands again, huh. Well, honey, that makes this all your fault: GIMME GIMME GIMME ALBUM/SINGLE NOOWWWWWWWWWW!!! (To be honest, this latest round of teasers makes me soooo much more excited than the original more real/less camp from the heart stuff did, not because I don't want Adam to write from the heart--of course I do--but because that stuff didn't tell me anything about what the music would SOUND like, and music is a sound, after all. These new tidbits? Oh my god are they right up my alley. :D) Also, on the imagining we know shit about his private life side of things, is it just me or is that Adam's "I'm away from Sauli" necklace? What the fuck is in that little parcel? I GOTTA KNOW. (Okay, I can learn to live with disappointment. I'm excellent at making shit up! ) MWP- You are me! I saw that the ravioli necklace was back and grinned. I'm convinced it holds something that makes him feel closer to Sauli. And if that's not the truth, I don't wanna know about it. LOL I asked him twice in this twitter party about his necklace and twice on his previous party. He ignored me. ;D I believe what you two believe. I know we probably are wayy off but only to imagine that what we believe is true makes me all squishy :D |

OMG so much to flail about today I don't even know where to start! I've berted so hard it hurts but it's a good pain, ya know? ;D Just a thought about the whole gay/post-gay discussion. I didn't see it brought up but it makes me think of feminism/post-feminism and I think there are many good parallels to be found. Post-feminists consider themselves to have moved beyond stereotypical gender roles and simply want to BE. They don't want to be forever battling with men but rather simply co-exist on an equal level. They don't always seem to express appreciation for the tough fights that their predecessors have fought, which pisses off the feminists of that era. Anyway, I do think Adam is post-gay and I like that he identifies with that term. I also think it's all contextual, which the UD does imply. It's a priviledge to be post-gay in a setting where there are many others who are similarly evolved. Post-gay is possible in Weho, for example, and other liberal enclaves. It's not so possible in more conservative parts of the U.S. And completely impossible in a places in the world where homosexuality is crime, I'd think. I'd really like to hear Adam say more about this. Hopefully a smart interviewer delves into this with him sometime this era. Watching Adam's evolution is a fascinating thing. Yes! In honor of the repeal of DADT today. This brings me to tears. I was there and it brought me to tears then. Indeed a mutherfucking beast!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah for DADT repeal. It's a about motherfucking time. I just had to jump in here to say I was in the Navy in the early 80's. DADT was put in so gays did not have to lie when enlisting, they asked in those days, therefore the dishonorable discharges for lying were no longer applicable....just the act of homosexuality was a reason to get discharged...it was a gateway legislation which obviously worked...I believe that civil unions will work the same way in the future...every little step for equality for everyone...sometimes it just has to work this way! |

After reading some of the stories of the abuse of some of the G/L in the military, there are also the stories of military personal who knew who was G/L & excepted them as full members of our team! The G/L married couple, the Chief who lived with her roommate, the gorgeous 2nd class guy that never dated...I believe that the majority of gays that were outed were because of other reasons...usually to get them out of the way for climbing the military ladder! Just like the corporate world... |
