So it wasn't Cam? So then what was the personal Adam connection? I know nothing ;D but from what I understood Cam was also on the flight as they all visited Cam's family.

maybe this will be the "Rosa Parks" moment that will be that turning point of enlightenment that brings equality.

I used to be uncomfortable with the term "homophobia" because I thought that an anti-gay term should imply hate and not fear. Yet whenever issues involving gay rights come up and people object to gays having equal rights, I find myself thinking, "What are they afraid of?" What do straight couples fear if gays are allowed to marry? What does the military fear from the elimination of Don't Ask, Don't Tell? What do churches fear from the very existence of gays? Anti-gay feelings really do stem from fear, as unreasonable as it sounds. But maybe that's good, because fear can be overcome. As gay people become more visible in our society, acceptance will follow. People who are now fearful of the unknown will realize that extending basic human rights to gay people is not going to interfere with their own rights and someone's sexuality will no longer be a big deal. I'm not sure if it is fear with some, nor complete ignorance. I think for many it comes down to religion. We live in a society where many christians accept one brand of Christianity and one set of doctrines. For instance, I live outside of DC, but was born and raised outside of LA. My husband works for a government agency that interacts with Congress. Because of the type of work he does, his co-workers are very politically aware and very sharp people. Among many conservatives he works with there is one African-American man in his late 60's my husband often debates policies and ideas. Of course through discussion my husband found that this man does not support gay rights.. marriage, don't ask don't tell, etc. I found this shocking because this gentleman is well educated, worldly, lived through the race riots, is from the deep south, lived through affirmative action backlashes.... despite living through and fighting for his own civil rights he simply can not support gay rights because of what his church and the bible has taught him. I was flabbergasted to say the least. I don't know what the answer is, except to keep plugging away.

I know it sometimes seems like no progress is being made - but slowly, but surely, it IS happening. I regularly discuss politics/issues with my father. It is a family tradition! We work together in the family company, so we see each other 5 days per week. My father is a pretty traditional Republican - strongly fiscal conservative and at 71 he is somewhat typical of his generation on social issues. We have been arguing marriage equality for a very long time. Last week, he suddenly announced that although it is hard to admit, he has changed his mind and believes that marriage equality should be guanteed at the federal level. I thought my chin was going to hit the floor! He may be only 1 person, but it is still proof that progress is being made.

Here's my ad for Krol:
At the top of the pic beside the Krol bottle:
"What - you haven't tried it?"
At the bottom of the pic:
"Laissez faire bon temps roulez
That's right folks; let the good times roll--with Krol!"
