And just because I do love random coincidences and associations, I want to add something else. Before I posted this, I just wanted to check my idea of the word 'shaman', so I googled it and ended up on the 'wisegeek' website. Below the short article about shamans were some comments, and the first one was by a woman who had named her child Shaman because of a book she read and loved in which the narrator of the book had a shaman lover. The name of the book was "Broken Open".
*cue twilight zone music* lol ok.. That was pretty freaky. In a good way. I've had the Adam as shaman idea stuck in my head since Fantasy springs. I found an interesting take on androgyny in Native American traditions. " Rather than emphasising the homosexuality of these persons, however, many Native Americans focused on their spiritual gifts. American Indian traditionalists, even today, tend to see a person’s basic character as a reflection of their spirit. Since everything that exists is thought to come from the spirit world, androgynous or transgender persons are seen as doubly blessed, having both the spirit of a man and the spirit of a woman. Thus, they are honoured for having two spirits, and are seen as more spiritually gifted than the typical masculine male or feminine female.
Therefore, many Native American religions, rather than stigmatising such persons, often looked to them as religious leaders and teachers. Quite similar religious traditions existed among the native peoples of Siberia and many parts of Central and southeast Asia. Since the ancestors of Native Americans migrated from Siberia over 20,000 years ago, and since reports of highly respected androgynous persons have been noted among indigenous Americans from Alaska to Chile, androgyny seems to be quite ancient among humans.
Rather than the physical body, Native Americans emphasised a person’s “spirit”, or character, as being most important. Instead of seeing two-spirit persons as transsexuals who try to make themselves into “the opposite sex”, it is more accurate to understand them as individuals who take on a gender status that is different from both men and women. This alternative gender status offers a range of possibilities, from slightly effeminate males or masculine females, to androgynous or transgender persons, to those who completely cross-dress and act as the other gender. The emphasis of Native Americans is not to force every person into one box, but to allow for the reality of diversity in gender and sexual identities."

OT but I just had to flail because my ST. LOUIS BASEBALL CARDINALS just over came a 8 1/2 game deficit and took the wild card spot in the playoffs!!!!

So happy for you. They deserved it! Now Boston who just lost again tonight does not deserve to get the American League Wild Card -- but are still 2-1/2 games ahead of both the Rays (my AL team) and the Angels. This means that the dreaded 3-way wild card tie is possible!!!! It probably won't happen but baseball is the American Idol of sports and fans love to look at statistically anomalies. Here's hoping that Tampa Bay can pull this off. That would make the Red Sox collapse legendary. Sending PIG POWER to Tampa!!

The Red Sox still are likely to win the wild card but the Yankees did take the AL East tonight! tampa bay has won the wild card slot. Sorry for the OT comments but this was just impossible!!No team has blown a nine-game lead in September – until the Red Sox did it. Boston was the pick of many to win the World Series this year, and not all of them were Sawx fans. And then came the swoon, and the Tampa Bay Rays, in roughly that order. If Tampa Bay Devil Rays did this ---- anything is possible!!! In another unbelievable finish in this strange wild card race, the Orioles were down to their last out with no one on base when Chris Davis doubled to right off Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon, Nolan Reimold followed with a game-tying double and Robert Andino took the final swing of the season and lined a single to left to complete the walkoff win.The Red Sox remained technicallly alive for a couple more minutes, until the Tampa Bay Rays completed an even more unbelievable comeback to defeat the New York Yankees in extra innings and win the American League Wild Card race.

OH thanks for posting this!! I wanted to buy something while it still helps The Trevor Project -- and I want an Eye of Horus. This is perfect and looks a bit like my EOH that I adopted many years before Adam. (actually before he was even born.) Note that this Eye of Horus is quite a bit larger than the new Peace Pendants we are all raving about ... about 30mm vs 21mm.
