Bringing this over from yesterday's thread to respond...Irish, I saw the pics Adam took are totally fine. Since me and Adam are from the same age group--we are only a few months apart in age really--I can say that this kind of picture posing is totally normal. I can't speak for the gay community, but it's def not uncommon to go out to ANY BAR and take pics and look all wild and crazy. IMO there is nothing wrong or scandalous or disrespectful to Sauli about it. They are just hamming and glamming it up for the camera and trying to look fierce. It's not like they are making out or anything, It's just a pic, and if their crotches seem to be touching--lol--then oh well. My boobs have inadvertently touched other ppl while taking pics, and that don't mean shit haha. . Thanks Chunkey. I trust your observations and input. It is hard to express an opinion or ask for help in understanding something that is puzzling to me on this site. Someone turned it into infidelity on Adam's part which never entered my mind at all. Someone called me a slut because I posted four times trying to explain my position. Someone accused me of being a jealous person. It is hard to make oneself understood since everyone interprets words differently. When I saw the picture, I just immediately thought of Sauli. I am a former wild child now grown into a grandmother. I only have what I discovered during my life as a frame of reference. In my day (hundreds of years ago) if my lover/husband/date took a picture with his penis in some girl's crotch I would have felt like a fool. It has nothing to do with jealousy. It has to do with what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I don't think my lover/husband/date would have liked it if I snuggled up to someone and put my crotch on his penis and took a picture. It was just common courtesy in my day that when you were in a monogomous (sp.) relationship certain boundaries were honored. I also stated that I was now a very unhip old lady, and I know times have changed so I wanted to get input from someone younger. I was looking through the eyes of an old lady. Chunky, you are younger and I think your observations for the most part have been right on and I value your input. It is not as big a deal as some have made it. I was mostly wondering how Sauli felt. It must be hard to be the King's boyfriend in a strange country. I don't want him to feel bad, and I felt bad for him. That was all it was. I know Adam is on stage 90% of the time because he has to be. He has no privacy. Whoa, whoa, whoa! I think I'm the only one who used the word SLUT yesterday and it certainly had nothing to do with you. My point, if I'm the apparently guilty one, was where some people are flattered by jealousy, to me it means a significant other doesn't think you (impersonal YOU) are trustworthy. Sauli seems like a confident, beautiful man who knows his own worth and is not threatened by Adam's interactions with others. That is huge to me. Even though Adam has admitted to being a caregiver in past relationships, he also said in the FUSE talk that it might be nice to have someone take care of him for a change. All I could think was, "Good for you." I'm really big on relationships being equal and the word "allowed" being banned from them. |

I think the person (obvious troll) whose comment was brought over here was trying to say that Adam would be a lot more appealing to "fence sitters" (ie people who are uncomfortable with gays) if he would only stop insisting on acting and looking gay ( being one of those "freaky ones"). Loved Heidi's interview first thing this morning. What a treat. Adam seemed so happy and relaxed, lots of laughing. He looked amazing and Heidi was so friendly and complimentary. Adam also looked amazing in the bar photos. The campy pose with Jonte was funny. I seem to recall that Adam promised us he would keep on bein' that weird fuckin' fag. And he's doin' it perfectly. I remember when I first found Adam. It was due to the AMAs. I googled around and found all the pictures of him in crazy costumes, Zodiac Show, etc. It was such a thrill to find someone so rock and roll again after all the years of depressive men in plaid shirts. The stuff Adam wears would have been street wear in the 1970s, to my recollection. I love it and I hope Adam never changes his go-to-hell attitude. Love this!! What is amazing about Adam is that he can almost shape-shift from the suited debonaire man to clubber to rock god in leather and always be the same Adam -- not a character in costume, but Adam dress up, down, or out. Over the past 25 years, the music world has gotten so conservative -- particularly for men. The PR episode was a perfect illustration. Plaid, tees, boring jeans, and a guitar??? How about a little leather? Or something unique and personal? |

Crap! I've got to get ready for work, but I just wanted to say YES! Rihannasu. I saw your post last night touching on this. THAT's where I think the disconnect happens. I immediately reflected back to the photos I have seen of Adam and his friends for YEARS. They are always touching, and very often in provocative, "intimate" ways, even when we know they are platonic friends and always have been. (This is women as well as men.) This is why I didn't think a thing of it. I wouldn't expect that dynamic to change just because some one of the group is now in an exclusive relationship.
On the contrary, I think if someone was to pull back from that dynamic because of their SO it would be a red flag to the others because it might indicate a level of insecurity, which often spells trouble. Sauli has always been very physically affectionate with his friends has we've seen with Katri and Nikko. For that to change because he's dating Adam would mean he's changing who he is and that's not good either.
And I totally agree with your last paragraph. That has fascinated me for years. I truly believe the fundamentalist love to keep sex such a taboo subject because they get off on the salaciousness of it all. I read a quote years ago that said they pornographer and the prude are usually the same person (that was the gist) and it is sooooo true.
