How about a THANK YOU to all those that are so kind to bring stuff over from twitter, google alert or other sources, instead of beating up on them for the one time where it turns out to be a rumor. I am just stunned. If we all need a journalistic degree and take everything through a multi-layer vetting process before we post it, we could all be doing this professionally, instead of spending a few happy hours with a drink or while listening to muzak.
I thought this was a FUN website? Guess to some it is pretty darn serious. Glad so many are commenting with similar messages....but I just want to add my
T H A N K Y O U
to all those folks actively participating and bringing us all the goodies. They are all loved, even those we need to unwrap or discard a few of them. Thank you

I do not understand what is going on but I do understand people are upset. We had rumors and troll tweets posted before. Once we figured out that the rumor was false or that it was a troll we moved on.
Yesterday's tweets were harmless, nothing bad could have happened whether Adam was or was not in either Walmart or that Melrose store.
I really appreciate people posting harmless information and not waiting for extensive verification. The info flow is so fast that if a post is wrong someone will quickly debunk it.
Maybe I'm naive but I do trust people not to post something harmful or incendiary here on Atop without checking.
For the past 2 years on either PF or Atop people have been pretty careful with what they posted.

So I have finally given in and voted with twitter on that FanArmyFTW poll. Don't feel that great about doing so, because it feels like you are signing half your rights away on twitter (i.e. they can now post using my twitter name?) I know they will only post this one message, but still...theoretically they have now permission to post anything they want under my name. That is insane. Of course I am only using my limited craazy...twitter and not my real life accounts, but still, who knows how much they crawl around gmail and twitter and whatnot to collect info. So, not too happy about it, but then, if Adam asks...who can resist. Obviously, I cannot. I have noticed that the only times that he sends these voting requests out on his own behalf, is exactly when they are tied to Facebook or twitter accounts, and they are collecting info. I don't recall that Adam ever asked for it on any of the other voting 'games' that are going on. So, I presume he is interested in collecting his fan base info for future purposes, just my suspicion that this is what is going on. Now while I was hitting that vote button, nothing changed, not my voting points, nor any status, the only thing is the screen started displaying the trends. Also twitter has not yet sent that message. Is their system somehow frozen or am I incapable of voting properly? Yes, the voting with twitter thing and giving them access to my account is very irritating. However, if you look at VH1, they are requiring the same thing for the top20 countdown. No longer can you vote anonymously on VH1 apparently and I think they were also limiting votes. Very annoying! But, you can vote up to your limits and go immediately to twitter profile, settings. Click on applications and you can immediately revoke their access. This is what I do so they only have access for a very limited amount of time. |

We discusssed how easy this was the other day, why don't you guys just make a Twitter or Facebook account that you only use for voting?!Make an e-mail with Yahoo or Hotmail and then have it. It eliminates all the worries about your personal stuff being accessed.
