I'm gonna respectfully disagree with you whatfun on the look of AO. The images of Adam are beautiful of course, the rest of the design reads as dated myspace to me -- very Hot Topic, and the navigation is really confusing. I do agree that ALF looks very good design-wise -- more of an H&M brand, lol. When I was a newbie first looking for Adam news I couldn't make head nor tail out of AO (I was looking for concert dates), found Planet Fierce by googling, and all was good. IF RCA were smart they would shut that AO forum down and actually rely on the fan sites for discussion type interests and 'unconfirmed news' and gossip, etc. by allowing fan sites to link there, instead of blocking every user who ever posts a link to another site and treating them like competition. They (RCA) cannot play that role themselves, neither resource wise, nor legally, so providing a list of connected links, but stating that they are not responsible for any content on those sites is exactly helpful to them. Then can concentrate on a nice looking general official website instead of that news and music page, that is out of date and awkward. Could also use Facebook, of course. Very little moderation needs, just keeping up a couple of simple web pages. Voila! When I was snooping on Katy Perry I was surprised to learn that this is kind of how she does her site. The official www.katyperry.com has top nav link to katyperryforum.com/ which bills itself as an "unofficial forum" but seems to have lots of mods and juggle both have adult and child threads simultaneously (*whew*, that seems like a lot of work). It also has a donate to keep this forum alive button, so doesn't appear to be funded by Universal?

As an active member of ALF from the beginning ... I can tell you there IS a community there, a rather unique one in that it is free from the one-upmanship of forums/boards and the desperate competition of Twitter. I enjoy the interaction and would miss it if it went away. It formed on the blog side despite the awkwardness of the format. The forum side never worked on that site.
Adam and his mother both blogged at the beginning, and there were some contests that were pretty good. Several people won a twitter chat with Adam. Several people got random postcards from Adam sent from Europe. Several people got message'd by Adam or his mom regarding their blogs. That was the type of interaction that took place.
Most of the angst has come about through not meeting expectations that were in themselves pretty reasonable. About six months ago, there was a contest in which people were asked to write about what "Aftermath" meant to them. Many people shared these on their blogs and the powerful personal stories they chose to share with Adam were tremendous. About 10-12 people were selected as finalists and were supposed to receive an autographed lyrics sheet of the song. These were never sent. I was astonished and I still am.
The angst recently is over the packages, in which people renewed at the $30 level and never received anything. I personally did not renew at that level because I thought to renew sight unseen was a foolish thing to do, but I think it's reasonable that those who did are distressed about it. It is also a potentially embarrassing issue, as there is a "30-day rule" as I understand it, in which companies have to produce merchandise or offer customers the option of cancelling an order.
Anyway ... bla bla bla. The bottom line is that Adam's online presence needs to be rethought from top to bottom, whether or not that includes a fan club. At a bare minimum, it seems to me that an artist's official site should not be a ripoff, and should not make the artist's fans enraged.

noangel, you posted this earlier i52.tinypic.com/jajtps.pngI would like to take just the words down to 'compare contracts' as I'm putting together a discussion point on Amazon UK re the 'joint' album. It's the only one currently here. I can pick up Adam's denial ok but I'm not sure where to find this; I need it to be authentic, so don't want to just type in a copy. I don't do Facebook, so if that's the answer can it be copied for me? Thanks :D Unfortunately, that pic is all I have. Steve's FB is friends-only, so even though I'm on FB I can't see his posts. I found that circulating on Twitter, presumably screencapped by someone who is friends with Steve or has a mutual friend of Steve's. Oooooookaaayy. Thanks. That'll be copytyping then :( BBL.

So why doesn't someone contact Eber and let him know the frustration. Then we have a direct link to Adam?? Oh gosh! I hope no one does that. I don't think Eber is involved in anyway with Adam's career other than to be a supportive Dad. All Adam needs is, like Susie said, a day to day manager (like Lane.) I'm sure there are people all over LA, with the right requirements, looking for those kinds of jobs. DMG just needs to either hire or assign one.

I really wish Adam would hire someone out of Nashville to manage his fan relations. The country music folks have some out-of-this-world fan relations people.
