I think this is what Edge has been saying since he took over, isn't it?

You're right SusieFierce I probably shouldn't have brought up the dreaded C word I hate seeing it let alone saying it. And I really don't know much about that fanbase other than second hand info. But getting so worked up over contest rewards and tee shirts? Adam has SO fucking much pressure on him right now, with so many expectations riding on this next era. I guess I hate even more the idea that while he is dealing with that, fans are banding together on ALF to agitate that he isn't meeting their vitally important needs quickly enough. It just makes me crazy thinking about it, so I guess I got a little carried away. ETA: And of course, there us a troll picking up on the meme of Adam not doing enough for his fans and spamming him about it. If you have twitter, please report: twitter.com/anoifmccardle

But I think he is being completely honest that he is working his butt off, and there's simply no time for any promotional opportunity right now that he doesn't already have set down in his no doubt tightly scheduled days. I agree with NoAngel, that invested (not casual) fan enthusiasm + Adam bizzy with creating/planning = invested fan impatience. And we see the result in some of the angst spirals that happen from time to time, that's natural. I just hope it stops short of fans getting so hyped up they try to backseat drive his career. That just never ends well. Adam's honesty that he's working his butt off has never been a question. And if you are correct that he has no time now for anymore promotional opportunities , I still would hate to think that an idea for a future promotion was lost because somebody gave up after trying to contact his management. I want Adam to be able to see all opportunities available to him and then decide what works for him. I guess I'm greedy that way!

I am somewhere between casual and casually invested.. I am not going to enter any contests .. just not interested.. but still..

It's the difference between being an invested fan and a casual fan. The latter is calmly going about their business, and will happily buy the album when it comes out. The former is on Twitter and fan sites, dissecting every minute detail of info we can find. NoAngel, while I'm sure you didn't mean this to literally be quite so cut and dried, I consider myself an invested fan, but fall somewhere between your description of casual and invested. I'm not going anywhere, no matter what happens, but I'm pretty casual about time frame, management and AO/ALF stuff. Maybe I'm casually invested? idk I think there are many like me. I also think we can add the over-invested fan to that list. : Casual fan usually refers to the fans who let the information come to them. If you are seeking out info online no matter how casually you consider it you likely fall in to what is considered the invested fans. There are however many levels of invested. I think of it in terms of active versus passive. If you are active in any way you are invested but if you simply react to what comes your way then you are casual. My roommate and I had this discussion because she focuses her internet activity through general sites like yahoo and explores things that peak her interest whereas I focus my internet activity from a starting point of Adam fansites and googling Adam. We often have come across the same things online but have found them through different avenues. I would consider her a casual fan because she only sees Adam stuff that shows up on these general sites or that is linked to through something else there that she was exploring further. Whereas I am an invested fan because I read ATOP, TWOP Adam thread, and google results for Adam daily.

Along the lines of speculation...for fun...imagine this possibility who better for Katy to do a collab with than Adam www.mtv.com/news/articles/1671985/katy-perry-secret-project-album.jhtmlOct 5 2011 6:53 AM EDT 6,181 Katy Perry 'Freshening Up' Unreleased Songs Producer Tricky Stewart reveals that singer is in studio working on leftovers from their Teenage Dream sessions. Katy Perry is already hard at work on some other super-special, top-secret musical project. "This song is really special. It's called 'Dressing Up,' so it's going to be a big record, I think,"

The thought that pre-rollout he doesn't need day-to-day assistance is LUDICROUS. THIS is when he needs it more than ever. All the shit that's happening right now is behind the scenes. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg and that is already indicating some erosion that is embarrassing from a professional standpoint. I'm sorry. It is. And the rationalization that he can't take his finger out of the dike long enough to find someone to fix it is ridiculous. RCA is in the middle of a major restructuring AND Adam has changed management teams. He is trying to finish his album, while taking on the added responsibility of being the Executive Producer. There is a chance RCA's new team wanted some songs added or collaborations on some existing songs. A delay doesn't always point to a negative outcome. It could be taking longer BECAUSE they consider Adam to be a top priority. They may have decided to put MORE time, money and energy into Adam's second CD. We have no idea on what is going on behind the scenes.Everything may not be in place at this time. Kelly Clarkson's rollout was pushed six months later, but then within a matter of a month everything magically appeared- website updates and emails, album packages, single release, TV appearances, iHeart radio concert, overseas promotion, video, etc. As of August 10th, the Kelly fans knew NOTHING! Within a three week period, they had an album and single cover, album presale packages, an updated website and a new single released. IMO, there is a great deal of impatience and entitlement going on in the fandom at this time. (NOT saying that about anyone here) The day after we get the new single, fans will be bitching that they need more than that. It's never enough. :(

It's pretty obvious that I'm not in the casual group myself, LOL. I guess I see it more as a spectrum of fan-ishness, with different levels of investment, none more or less good than others.

Off course he's working his butt off right now. That's the whole point of what I (and maybe Susie) have been trying to say. It seems, that the DMG switch happened around July. It is now October. Being busy, is not an excuse for letting won prizes (like Chats or DMs) going ignored. Or promos like Charity:Water photos not being sent out. Charity: Water ended over six months ago! Or fanclub merchandise, promised at sign ups, not being delivered. It's bad business. Should Adam be handling all this himself? Of course not! He is BUSY! Do I think the fan club mods should have a DMG person to contact by now? Absolutely! Should Tim, from Penny Royal have a contact person at DMG by now? IMO, yes! Should he be getting DMG or should DMG be getting their shit together by now, IMO, "Yes!" I get that getting the single and album out right now is a top prioity. But in this day and age, a celebrity's internet presence is very, very important. It should be a priority too.

It just makes me crazy thinking about it, so I guess I got a little carried away. I'm terms of the people on ALF worrying about Adam's log-in or blogs I think we are only talking about less than 5 users there or something. It's human nature though for those in a consumer relationship awaiting merchandise or a prize to make noise about it. Mostly I just get interested in the topic of the websites because I used to work in web-design and online customer management/internal training, so it's fun for me to look closely at. Ultimately this stuff isn't for Adam to deal with or even pay attention to, just for someone on his team too, so I don't see it as putting extra pressure on him. ETA: Tigerlily's Kelly example makes me have great hope that we might see something similar when the promo machine is officially turned on. Her new site seems really well designed and usable from what I've seen poking around. ETA: oy! I suck I typing and wording things today, time for me to back off for the afternoon and explore the "casual" side of stanning
