ETA: I think of these recordings a bit like I treat the drawings my son did when he was 4 years old -- the treasured early works that he would throw out if he knew I saved them. OK, lol, now I maybe understand our differing viewpoints better. As an artist who shows internationally I am mortified when my mom wants to show people my early unfinished work, once she suggested taking it to a local gallery for me (major professional and daughter embarrassment at the thought let me tell you). For myself I'm fiercely protective of my artistic identity and the work I choose to show, above almost all other considerations. Am I projecting onto Adam from my viewpoint? Probably ;D Also, yes, I think ultimately Adam's real release (when it drops) will make all this appear less significant in the larger picture. |

Q3-You don't think that this unauthorized and unwelcome surprise release is going to take away a lot from Adam's sales this time just like it did last time? 100k sales loss is nothing to sneeze at - and a lot to put in the pocket of some underhanded creeps. And how many potential fans will think this is his new music and then listen to it and be disappointed and not become a fan. I don't like it at all and I think it is too bad if this is mistaken for his new music and where he is now. And the timing of this mess speaks for itself. I am angry about it and I think it is despicable and so is anyone who has a part in it so I'll say what Adam said cause I agree with him. "Some folks will do anything for a buck. fuck" JMHO -- I do not think this will do anything to hurt Adam's sales. If anything, it will create a news story about his music and early career and undermine some of the "Made on Idol, too Broadway" stigma. It proves he was trying to be a recording artist for years. I used to do sales forecasting and market estimations for large entertainment companies as part of my job and in similar situations the net result was a sales increase for the primary product -- not a decrease. Finally, I have heard enough about the new Adam music to be firmly convinced that it is so good it will sell and get airplay. If it is as good as I hear it is, and the buzz is tremendous for Adam #2, it will blow everything away.There is no chance that this old music will get any measurable airplay in the markets that matter. No chance. It will be bought by fans who buy all things Adam and who will probably buy multiple copies of Adam 2. Am I allowed to kiss you? Okay, I'll restrain myself, but thank you for the words of wisdom. Maybe you ARE an undercover shaman. |

Well knowing how much of a perfectionist Adam is with many examples we've witnessed in the past, and how he specifically referred to these CV tracks as "unfinished" I'd be willing to bet that your projection is closer to the truth. |

OMG YES!! I totally want a blue haired Adam wrapped in some kind of leather papoose with wings and no legs but it won't matter that he doesn't have any legs because he has wings, and he will be hovering in a dark room with a bunch of old timey clocks on the walls because that always screams "artsy" and he will be looking off into the distance towards a small door that's cracked open juuust a teensy bit to let a tiny trickle of light stream though and no one will have ANY idea what any of it means but it will generate EPICALLY LONG WTF comments and fan wars and everyone will flail and freak out and say it's the most amazing thing ever while others will say it will spell the doom of his career and others will look for deep meanings in it to support their various ships and I will sit back and smile and nod and enjoy every second of it.
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR THIS ERA?!?!
(I wouldn't be adverse to someone photo shopping this btw.)

I've been ignoring this, but this is starting to really get to me, so I have to say something. We don't know almost *anything*, guys. We have some pieces of information and a WHOLE lot of implies. We need to remember that we really, really do NOT know these people - and chatting with them once over a beer or receiving a twitter from someone does not mean knowing them. Adam and Monte have had a relationship for YEARS, and I strongly believe it is not our place to pass judgment on Adam's friends. Now, of course, we are all entitled to our opinions, I completely agree with that. But when we do more than expressing our opinion here, when we start harassing Adam's friends on twitter, and changing wikipedia pages with hateful stuff, it makes me sad, because I am part of this fandom too and it reflects badly on me, too. It makes me not proud to call myself an Adam fan, because I don't want "Adam fans" to be known as crazy people over-protective of Adam. And by the way, Adam does not need our protection. He needs our support, of course, by buying his stuff, voting, etc. But he is a big boy and he does NOT need us as a fandom, like a big collective mommy, to start figuring things out for him, or defending him against someone who *we think* may have done something bad to him. Craazyforadam, and a bunch of others who have expressed what I am about to say right now, thank you. Of course, this is a discussion-based fan site, so everyone is free to express your opinion, but it is VERY valid, I believe, for people who are lurking to also see that there are fans like me, and Craazyforadam, and others who are not happy about where this discussion is going. On to happier thoughts, I am incredibly excited about new music, the photoshoot, the fashion, and the industry buzz about this new album, so yay! I think new music will come out soon, and that's really a reason for a whole lotta yay!!! s  |
