Hoppers
even if I agreed with you (and I don't-I still believe everything Adam did was a collaboration, a desicion HE made and HE chose-and if it was not Monte it would be another "Monte" cause he clearly from what we know people in the music business noticed him while he was in Zodiac) about Adam owe to Monte something what I don't get is this. It seems from your post, correct me if I'm wrong, that this "owe" has to be materialized in any form, especially if the other part DOES NOT want it. Where is the ethic on that? Would we say anything if Adam didn't use Lee Cherry for some photoshoots about Adam ignoring him because Lee helped him?
Adam DID talk about Monte and how much he appreciated him many times. In fact Adam talked about ANYONE and he STILL is talking graciously to all the people from his past. Isn't this enough? Is it all about money? IDK.

At one point, Twitter party? Interview?, Adam talked a little bit about helping/promoting friends and the fine line he has to walk being his own artist as well. Personally, I do not believe that Adam 'owes' Monte; their relationship was symbiotic. Yes, there were doors opened. But it became a revolving door as Adam evolved. Their relationship has been one of mutual admiration and respect, not you owe me/I owe you.

Fun, uncomfortable? A: fine line. I am happy to see my friends benefit but at times it feels like the boundaries are really hard to draw.

OK, moved per mod request. Probably won't be seen, but I don't want to step on any toes by posting inappropriately.
My final word(s) on Monte, at least until we get that promised statement from him...
Did Adam have reason to be grateful to Monte? Sure. If memory serves, Monte was the person who got Adam the session work that became the source for Take One (so okay, it didn't turn out so well in the end, but at the time it got Adam some much needed experience in the studio, not to mention some much needed moola). He gave Adam the opportunity to front a rock band and a shot at a record deal. Again, it didn't turn out well in the end, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it gave Adam the opportunity to expand his creative horizons and the potential for greater success down the line. And even after Idol, I'm sure Monte was a great source of support and knowledge for Adam as Adam worked to launch his new career. Monte toured with Madonna, played in bands, and had tons of experience in that world. Adam did not.
However, that isn't the same as believing Adam should be in Monte's debt, or that he "owes" Monte anything. IMO, any "debt" he might have owed Monte has been repaid a hundredfold. Monte has benefited greatly from his association with Adam, more so than Adam has from his association with Monte. All those years of touring with Madonna did not give him a fraction of the visibility he has gained from his two years with Adam. Adam made him musical director and gave him the opportunity to shine on stage. As has been pointed out, Adam's fans attend his gigs and went a long way toward funding his album. They know his name and follow him to varying degrees. So if any gratitude is owed, it goes both ways.
I'm not waving a pitchfork, nor leading a lynch mob. I am, however, unconvinced at this point that Monte is not involved in the release of the CV tracks. The longer Monte remains silent, the more suspicious I get. That isn't to say I'm not willing to be proven wrong. I hope I'm wrong. I don't want to think a longtime friend has betrayed Adam. Because, make no mistake, if Monte is at all responsible for the release of those songs, I will consider it a betrayal unless Adam says otherwise.

moved here, written by psychedelic ***** in the rolling stone interview it says, he earned 1800$ per week. At that rate, he'd be making approx $90K per year, which would put him in the 28% tax bracket, leaving him with approx $71K per year after taxes. I don't remember how long he was a chorus boy in Wicked. He did it at one point, left, then came back again. But I don't think he was doing it for years and certainly not long enough to save up a huge nest egg, live in anything better than a studio apartment, or pay his father back. (I clearly remember an interview around the time of Father's Day in 2009 when he talked about finally being able to give his father a big check to pay him back for all the loans/gifts over the years.) I also seem to remember him saying that CV made no money at all -- I think he said the most they made was free drinks at one of the bars. THis is the interview where Adam says CV made no money and only performed infront of 20-30 people. THey start talking about CV at 1:00. and I agree with Tigerlily. IMO Nobody `owes` anybody for all the experiences they had in their life, especially for experiences that to be honest, didnt lead to something significant directly on its own. And just because Monte had cred at the time means Adams the one who benefited the most from CV at the time either.. Which he realistically didnt at the point especially in the materialistic sense. And quite obviously, Monte didnt form CV to help Adam, it was for his own artistic fulfilment, and I would be disappointed in Monte if he expected anything in return from Adam for having been in CV.

Hi bocababe -
Thanks for moving your post over here. I thought it was a good one, and I was afraid you had deleted it.
Your viewpoint is quite valid, and I'm glad you posted it.
