First of all, let me just say that it was a welcome relief to read this thread today.
When five days ago I posted list of things we as fans can do about the bastard album, I did not even realize or think about our power as fans to be an immediate informant to RCA. It is also nice to see that RCA has woken up enough to not treat fan feedback just as useless noise level, but is now realizing that we can be the feet on the ground for which they don't have the resources themselves. I expect now that when the actual album#2 release time comes, RCA will allow fans to give feedback on retail CD department related problems and act upon the info. I certainly see a turn-around compared to how RCA operated 2 years ago. Good to see that.
I am glad that they recognize BFM as a threat for Adam and are stepping it up. Whether there is enough time to do something by 10/18/11 remains to be seen. Is this date actually their single drop date or album drop date? And for the latter, is that online only, radio only or everything including retail? Does anyone know?
Btw, I don’t think that this will be a threat to the success of album#2, but I do believe it is revenue lost to RCA and Adam and it will confuse those customers that mistakenly buy it. So it is not immaterial either. Just my opinion.
Re: Timing. It turned out a blessing in disguise that album#2 got delayed til spring. At least this whole nonsense with BFM will be over by the time album#2 promotion fully starts.
In some twisted way it is a benefit that these radio ads happened. Let me explain. First of all, the major radio stations are now finding out that there is a problem and are going to be alert to the issue. Given that fans caught this so quickly, I assume this ad will be removed by the time the product is available for purchase. Somehow, I assume that this is a weekly feed that is sent out. Crossing my fingers here, I see above that some of you are less optimistic. Yikes. How hard can it be to send a correction feed?
But even bigger, I hope that RCA legal can use these examples to not only get the ad removed from the radio station feed, but lay a legitimate claim to a cease and desist. I am hoping, hoping that this one comes to bite Malcolm W. in the butt. Prior to these ads, the only reasoning RCA had (to my knowledge) was that web site name using AL's name and perhaps the misuse of the tweets. These radio ads now are a much stronger evidence for making such a claim.
So, I am actually hoping now for a bigger win because of these ads.
