I have many reasons for stanning Adam and many reasons why I react the ways I do at his actions, words, music, appearance. I won't bore you with any of that.
I will say one of the reasons I am in this fandom is that it is a beautiful thing to share so many core values with you all.
Whether you are a progressive, conservative, Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, atheist, black, yellow, white or green(haired), pearl clutcher or anything-goes-as-long-as-it's-fun... There are beliefs and passions that bind us.
First and foremost, WE BELIEVE IN FAIRNESS AND EQUALITY. Gender, sexuality, race, economic standing, etc.... We share an unshakable passion for the principals of civil rights.
WE ARE GENEROUS.
FOR THE MOST PART,WE ARE WILLING TO LEARN AND EVOLVE.
WE ARE OPTIMISTI--erm--okay forget that one...
I know there are others but those ar the major ones for me. Many of us find this a refuge from the reality we face every day in our outside lives.
A small example, I posted Zachary Quinto's beautiful blog essay on my r/l FB. Immediately, my brother "counter posted" with bible verses, an essay by a woman who quit Planned Parenthood because of her religious beliefs, and a column by Ann Coulter slamming President Obama.
