Wow, you guys are tough! I thought he sounded amazing, best he has yet singing this song. I heard nothing "flat," and I didn't notice any pitch problems. Sometimes I think people are just looking for issues...
It was a live performance, lol! I agree. I loved the entire performance. It reminds me of the time Adam sang with Queen on the EMA's. Everyone was going BSC (me too) then someone started talking about something was flat. Talk about kill a mood and kill the flailing, lol. I mean if there was something seriously wrong with a performance then fine. No need to ignore that. But the picking everything apart when Adam performs makes me wonder why we are always hoping he will get a performance. But I try to ignore most of it because everyone will not be pleased with his performances even if I am. If I like or love a performance then that is good enough for me. I don't expect anyone to tell me what I did or did not hear. I don't plan to tell anyone else what they did or did not hear or enjoy. I heard and saw a very good performance. I thought it was great. Hopefully Adam went over well with the general public as I don't think most are looking closely for any perceived flaws. I think it has to be really in your face off for most people to push their enjoyment aside to look for something to be wrong. JMO.

I enjoy all the comments on the performance. No one has said anything I can disagree with since I heard little ‘things’ too and those who did will, of course, have some kind of personal response to that - especially those more musically in tune (unintentional pun ) edit: I think cassie ‘s analogy is a good one. My response is that I heard that it wasn’t perfect BUT I LOVED THAT IT WASN’T!He sounded so real and sexy and if anything, the lack of his usual smoothness and ease in places just seemed to exaggerate how fantastic his voice is. Haven’t we often said that he makes it look ‘too easy’ so that the ordinary listener can’t appreciate just how complicated his notes and riffs are and and how accomplished his technique? For me, it was (very, very slightly) imperfectly PERFECT! Just a quick jump in here. For some reason there is also always a cadre of fans that are "better" fans then the others because they love everything and if one does not, then that fan is not a "good" fan. fwiw, it was an awesome performance but there were, to me, clear pitch and minor issues that I would be happy to not hear, and that did not diminish my pleasure but did make me feel for Adam...who will know they were there. We are all here because we love Adam...and some of us love musical detail...and/or fashion detail as well...and love talking those things. We should not be made to feel censored any more than someone who comments they do not prefer the more flamboyant Adam...or any other detail. Let us not start this again...we have lost a load of fans this way...on both ends of the spectrum.

Haha i had the same notion: tough crowd tonight! I just thought it was ironic and funny how we were hoping for a performance and now we had it "took it apart". Other than that i didnt make much of it. Fans (of any celebrity) like to scrutinize. I didnt find anything malicous in that. I only noticed that the performance didnt sound as Melodic as someone put it as we are used to other times. I really liked the two live performances Uploaded on Adams YouTube so far!!! We really fell for that cty. Luckily i don't immediately hear every little pitch in detail if i havent heared the song many times before or so but on the other hand in vocal lesson when my Coach said i was slightly off i can fix it immediately. Not sure that makes sense. cassie analogy or real life experince? Lol great story!

My immediate reaction to Adam's "Strictly" performance was WOW!! It may not have been his best vocal performance ever, but not so sure if it really matters. I totally loved it and it made me smile. For me, Adam still sang better than any notable singer could pull off live and he looked HOT(!) from head to toe and he exuded confidence and swagger. Definitely a superstar worthy performance for me!!

"So I credit Adam with saving my sanity and bringing me back to life. He is my hero and my Idol." Wow, I wonder how often Adam hears this kind of story! Best wishes for your good health.

Wow, you guys are tough! I thought he sounded amazing, best he has yet singing this song. I heard nothing "flat," and I didn't notice any pitch problems. Sometimes I think people are just looking for issues... It was a live performance, lol! Not looking for issues. One of the things I love about Adam's performances is that I can usually sit back and relax while he sings, knowing that he is gonna kill it vocally. With many singers my throat tries to compensate for poor pitch or technique. It is unconscious and uncomfortable. Not with Adam. Most of the time. So, when I hear a bum pitch it is very noticeable to me. Jars me out of my comfort zone. I actually squirm, and feel bad for him. It is not something I choose to hear or something I can adjust not to hear. Analogy: You and a friend are in a department store. You hear this subliminal whine, high pitched, which seems to make the fillings of your teeth ache. You comment to your friend. She looks at you, puzzled. She hears nothing. Just the normal sound of muzak and shoppers talking. As you walk around the store it gets louder and softer, but never goes away. It starts to drive you crazy. What the hell is that??!! Your friend is sure you are psycho. You decide to leave the store in hopes that it will go away. As you walk to the door it gets worse and worse. Then, once outside, it is gone! WTF??? Turns out, it is a security system to monitor those tags on clothes to prevent shoplifting. It is pitched at a frequency and intensity that most people cannot hear (but dogs can). But, to those who do, it is nerve wracking and relentless. Yeah, variations of pitch are like that. If you hear it, you hear it and cannot unhear it. If you don't, the world sounds delightful. Reading through all these comments makes me feel like I opened a can of worms by asking for your opinion. So I would like to apologize if I put you in the hot seat. I just knew you would provide some honest and well-founded input regarding the vocals - and after seeing the thoroughly enthused responses I was beginning to question my own hearing. I lack the proper musical training but I can't help hearing what I hear. That is not to say that I was disappointed by the performance - on the contrary I really enjoyed it - but to me it was obvious that this song is very hard to sing live and he just wasn't 100% on point like he usually is vocally. If other people don't hear it, all the better - that means casual listeners must have been very impressed and the average troll/hater won't find anything to criticize. I really didn't mean to put a damper on anyone's enjoyment, but I also don't think glossing things over is the right way to go as it just provides the trolls with an angle to invalidate all the positive things we have to say. And there was a lot of positive things to say about this performance: He did a good job on a difficult song and he looked damned fine doing it. (I feel like I need another positivity day now...)

I know the conversation has moved on, but just want to say that I value all the honest opinions here. Nobody is perfect, nobody is always right. The world would be a boring place if we all experienced it the same way, thought the same way, said the same thing! I like the fact that Adam fans are a diverse group!

I was, hopefully, being supportive in the face of the implied and overt criticism of those who simply shared their own honest reaction. I am very, very far from liking everything he does and therefore very far from expecting others to do so. I am happy with anyone’s honest opinion on Adam as long as it doesn’t involve a negative opinion on fellow posters. But...perhaps I have misunderstood.
