Update: I finally got the equipment installed on my DirecTV dish so I can get the spannish TR3 channel, two days after I needed it! Hey, maybe they will do a replay of the EMA's before MTV2 on 11/15. Anyway, there was a ticker (in English, go figure) that reported that Adam was getting sued for not being eligible to go on American Idol. IMO Welsford slumscumbag just threw that in to get the press!
And, on the delay........ The creative direction of Adam's album changed after working with Pharrell, as revealed in the Out /Hickin interview, and this was late as July I think a lot of work had to be done with new songs, collabs, etc to change to artistic "feel" of the music. Plus, as many have said the logistics of a world-wide rollout have got to be complex. KUDOs to Adam and his managing team for focusing on the UK influence, because that is world wide. ETA: Most legendary music comes out of the UK: Queen, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Davis Bowie, Muse, U2 (well up there) and most recently Adele. The UK has HUGE influence in the music of the world. IMO - it is all good! Besides, Adam will have time to spend with his friends and family over the holidays, won't have to be running all over the world/country in bad winter weather, will be well rested and ready to EXPLODE!!!!! in Jan!
I am happy!

Oh jeeze, yeah, thanks for the sanctimony, but of course I know there is a second album. : ::)But he likely knew that the single wasn't going to happen in November weeks ago and could have let us know, but instead it was prolonged until Nov. 8. If he would have just said something in mid-October when it was decided, a great deal of wondering and angst could have been prevented. And I disagree with your other points as well.

wonderstruck, I think you might be taking Susie's words a bit too literal. I interpreted her post to mean, "If you knew 2 weeks ago the single wouldn't be out, then tell us then. Be as straight forward as you can be." Some of us don't like suspense or aniticpation. I am one of them. If I know the ending of a movie, I enjoy the entire movie more. I know it's weird, but that's the way I am! :-/ (I also know there are thinks Adam can't say, like things about the lawsuit. That's OK too.) We have to remember we all internalize things differently. Some people want to read the last chapter first. I am one of those, you are not. ETA: Oops, just saw Susie's reply. Looks like my interpretation was right on.

I have been reading the reaction here to the delayed single release and I understand the disappointment and wondered why I wasn't feeling it. So here is what I have figured out.
I absolutely love the direction he is now going with the album as evidenced by the OUT article. I think that it is fabulous that he consciously sat down and said I want predominantly dance/upbeat music as opposed to the more "dark" ballady music but I need to determine how I can do this and still have it meld with my completely phenomenal voice. (OK, I said that not him and that is not to say that there won't be ballads because I am sure there will be.)
If you listen to top 40 radio right now, a transition is occurring away from the auto-tuned crap of Mike Posner et al and also the collaborations meme is peaking. Adele's songs have been instrumental in that change but as much as I love her songs, there is no way you can dance or party to them. For me, she is an HAC artist who smashed into Top 40 because people are desperate for good singers. Bruno Mars also feeds into the good singer transition but his music is just a little 'croony'. The dance music right now is not 'phenomenal voice' friendly and that dance-style needs just a little longer to fade.
So, what Adam is doing by going in a more funky direction is, depending on how you look at it, "NEXT" or completely old school. It is really a risk. I am thinking 'next' and am super excited to see how Adam has made funk modern. I am a funk lover from way back and although I want funk more than anything, I was a little concerned that radio was not quite ready and please don't throw things at me, nor would they necessarily accept a completely new direction from Adam. He is not yet a recognized trendsetter in music and I do not want there to be any hesitancy on the part of radio to accept or play his music. It is great that his management is playing the songs to the entertainment establishment all over the place and he needs time to do that.
Also, November/December is the END of the year and I emphasize end because I think the collabs etc. will be over by then. Radio will be so sick of Holiday music and the same ol' same ol' that they will be ready, and so will the listeners, to party. The upshot of this whole essay is that January is a new year for a new sound and as much as I want new music from Adam, I think the timing is better if he waits irregardless of what other litigious crap is going on. FYE was Adam testing the waters as a Pop Star, this next album is Adam finding his unique voice and I, for one, am ready to party.
So, really, honestly, the anticipation now makes me happier than I was before. It is going to be good.

EXPLODE in............January?....February? Haha....okay then. Like several people have already said, I think the main hold-up has been the complete about-face in album direction and the time it takes to re-write, record and produce new tracks. Sounds like what Adam has completed to date is extraordinary, and if we can believe the UK tweets - going to be well-received by radio. A lot of planning goes into world-domination ;D (On a selfish note, I'm wondering how I'm going to get my fix...do we envision any more TV performances? He isn't going to do old material....so that leaves tributes or some other kind of special "one-off" appearance. Can't see anything like that on the horizon. Oh well.....lots of pretty pap pictures please and thankyou!) Oh....and stooopid Perez....is just stooopid. :
