DOI week 7 musical guest is Club for Five, an a cappella group. They see their voices as instruments, mimick drums and use beatboxing. The group was founded in 2000, they've done 5 studio albums of which one is Christmas themed, one own material, two covers of Finnish pop music and one covers of foreign music. Examples are live performances of songs from the album You're The Voice (2009) except for Sweet Dreams that is a music video. Different singer takes the lead vocals in different songs... Maybe I should have included some Finnish music too but YT was not very friendly in that respect. Trying anew I found these are from the album 'Ihmiset' (People) 2011 by Club for Five. Mansikkamäki (Strawberry Hill) by Katri Ylander (bonus: views from Helsinki centre, it's rainy and dark just like now) www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BTwyOjpGawI would like to get back the Strawberry Hill, and him with the kite running on his bare feet. Happiness is hiding under the rose bush, the village has gone quiet and empty. No way to go back, the star didn't lead to the birch in the yard. (refers to a tale where childhood friends will always find each other and their home by following the star that they saw when sitting under a birch tree) Joka päivä ja joka ikinen yö (Every day and every night) by Eppu Normaali www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhDyFaM04BkEvery day and every night I'm thinking about you, every day and every night as long my heart beats. I feel close to you if I'm near or far, and when I wake up at night I'm crying out your name, I know that nothing returns the same. What am I going to do in the world without you.

Arttu Wiskari (born 1984) is a contestant in Dancing on Ice and a musician by profession. The singer-songwriter tells real life true stories in his songs, did some blues earlier, also some acting and voice acting in movies. Before 'Mökkitie' became a hit in 2010 landing him a record deal he worked in a hardware store. He has F1 driver Kimi Räikkönen on his video to 'Sorateiden sankarit', the song was chosen to advertise Neste Oil Rally Finland in 2011 and he actually drove with his band mate in a smaller rally, a documentary was made from that venture. Mökkitie (Country road, lit road to summer cottage) 2010 www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhBRyP96RCYFirst childhood memories from their vacation on the summer cottage, granpa telling war stories, happy kid. Daddy, let me drive the country road... That was the last summer there, parents divorced and sold the cottage. Driving again the familiar road, no granpa stories, he passed away, now I understand and appreciate him more. On the country road again, I remember every turn and hill of the road. Tuntematon potilas (Unknown patient) 2011 www.youtube.com/watch?v=97DwMIf7_lITells about his grandfather who fought in the war as a young man but in the end suffered Alzheimer's fighting the war again and being scared of the enemy, escaping from the care and getting lost. One day he didn't recognize me anymore and soon got away from his wars, despite my tears I believe we'll meet again. At the funeral I understand your wish that made me angry at the time. Chorus: Hear my wish, I want to go, isn't it time already, I've seen this life, I had it all and more. Hear my wish, I want to go, isn't it time already, I'd like to leave like a soldier, signed 'unkown patient'. Sorateiden sankarit (Heroes of the country road) 2011 feat. F1 driver, Kimi Räikkönen www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXemDBfP4JsIkuisesti kahdestaan (The two of us, forever) 2013 www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jUGWWUIAiIWe hear children's voices from the neighbours, it's quiet at our home, year by year more quiet. How long can we dream of a lullaby? The questions hurt and they see children everywhere, maybe it's our time, trying to adopt. Chorus: When we are close (~in each others arms), you cry, why did this happen to us. I try to make you believe that I'm here forever and love you even if we were to live like this, just the two of us, forever. (BTW don't miss the end of the video...)

Lyric video www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze8NgJzEVBoOther examples of his work: 'Liekeissä' (In flames) 2008 www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYbNmHk5jnAIt rains gasoline, we're in flames, it's a party tonight, let's do it. 'Jos mä oisin sä' (If I were you) 2009 www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMMqVQ7RozMI had the will, worked hard... If I were you, I'd trust me, if I were you, I'd stay beside me. If I were you I'd be together with me. 'Kyyneleet' (Tears) 2012 www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE7Ou0WkO-II feel blessed, through troubles I got here, I deserve this, so thankful, tears of happiness. 'Syypää sun hymyyn' (Reason for your smile) 2012 www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfEwpZb8PRA'Timantit on ikuisia' (Diamonds are forever) 2013 www.youtube.com/watch?v=81Ejyr-ddgw

The featured artist with Cheek, Samuli Edelmann (born in 1968), is an actor and a singer. His music is mostly down-tempo, ballads and duets to poems etc. (and I love them). Tuhat yötä (Thousand nights), live 1995 feat. Sani www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tio4XXkCrVgLevottomat (Restless) 2000 feat. Cata Mansikka-aho www.youtube.com/watch?v=87bb90wugO0A beautiful moment, I wish I could live it again. You're going away, I know, but I felt the love. I whispered that I love you but you didn't hear it and you're going away. Did you feel it too? You're leaving but I got to feel love. Jos sä tahdot niin (If you want) 2010 feat. Jippu www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzxxBpMH1-YI'll do everything you want, without you I'll drown. I'll convert or I'll move or anything, if you want, because without love, without you I'm half way to Hell. Anything you want.

DOI week 9 musical guest and a guest judge is Jukka Poika (~Johnny Boy, born 1980). He is a reggae musician who started in bands but moved on to a solo career in 2007. Released four solo albums, one sold gold. He's been inspired by rastafari (marijuana too) and taoism, has three children. Jukka Poika: Siideripissis ("Sweetheart"~~>Cider Tart>CT, 2012) www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQU9Cx40jDMWhen we first met in an elevator I didn't guess that you were to become my CT. When we met the second time I was starting to understand that this was going to be a special case, and since then the feeling is getting stronger. Now I want to give you a kiss and a rain, preferably in pink, a shiver and a drink. A cold one, a colder one, a cold-ie. Hot, hotter, a hottie. You ended up in the hook of this song, yayyayyaa. etc Jukka Poika: Laineet (Waves, new version 2013) www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dj8RBAzKE8Starts with the chorus: Waves make my boat swing, I'm singing please swing me The storm shakes the tree tops, please shake me In the verse something like: One night and one swing is not enough, I promise I won't leave you, just keep on shaking. There's two of us, two hearts attracted to each other, music makes us go deeper, drumbeat mimicks our heartbeart, we drift to the sea until we go down. Two other hits of his to check out if interested: Silkkii Älä tyri nyt

DOI WEEK 9 (top 3)
Sauli's songs are Muse: Feeling Good and Anna Järvinen & Olavi Uusivirta: 'Nuori ja kaunis' (Young and Beautiful) www.youtube.com/watch?v=scBcbh8I9e4 (Quickly made basic explanation of what is said in the song, happens in a car... and probably makes more sense in context with the movie) Squeeze your lips tight and make that face, like I owed you something. Shall I pay it back now? I'm happy, what did you think? I'm happy, what did you think? Step on the gas, let life pass by. Shout and break you vocal chords. I'm happy, what did you think? I'm happy, what did you think? (2x the following) You're young and beautiful, but who is shouting? Invented the gunpowder, but who is shooting? A birch branch touching the window. Is it wind shouting - or someone else? The leather seat was burning the naked thigh. Did the wind hear the sounds of the young? I was happy, what did you think? I was happy, what did you think?
The song is made fore a movie called 'Elokuu' (August, 2011) directed by Olavi Sipola.
Wiki about the plot: "The movie tells about young Aku who faces a boring summer after graduation when his girlfriend, friends and family leave the city for the summer. It all changes at Midsummer when inexperienced Aku meets beautiful and wild Juli. The young woman asks for a lift to Eastern Finland and Aku, with a golden heart, says yes. He doesn't guess though how the trip turns out."
Some partial quotes from movie's critiques in Wiki: ...a good summer movie describing the phase from teenager to adulthood. It's a realistic, touching and funny roadmovie which in addition to the travelling is able to drill into a young man's soul. Reaching adulthood often requires testing your limits... There's the same logic as in life, especially in the life of a young man who is lost somewhere in the midst of feelings and reason... A young man's existentialist angst (~distress) but actually a shallow picture of a teenager lead by his hormones. IDK but judging by the video and the mood of the song I'm guessing that in the movie the end is not happy for Aku (who apparently first is happy but then gets his heart broken).
Sara does Loreen: Euphoria and Irina: Hiljaisuus (Silence) www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDAa4Wn2cpU
It's a story of a relationship that doesn't work anymore. Partner comes home late, doesn't say a word and the singer pretends she's sleeping, she misses being alone and not needing to deal with her feelings that she doesn't understand. She wants to be close but not touch and hopes it would be enough for the other too, so they could go on. She likes the silence better than a new bad lie, it's not easy, I don't know what's the matter, I know you cannot take this much longer, the silence might kill us.
Arttu's songs are Sinatra's Strangers in the Night and Juha Tapio: Kaksi Puuta (Two Trees) with lyrics in English www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExOdmsGuwKA
The song tells a story of a long-lasting couple who look back, how they started their journey together, just like the young couple they see outside, through thick and thin have grown-up together and their bond is strenghtened by the years.

Olavi Uusivirta (born 1983) is a musician, a singer and an actor. He has made 5 albums (one selling gold) and a lot of music to movies. This is his hit from 2005.
On niin helppoo olla onnellinen (It's so easy to be happy) www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kwM_AXWnNw It's easy to be young, it's all or nothing, hey rock'n'roll, it's easy to take and let go...
It's easy to be free and imagine that there's a reason for everything, explanation to love and world's origin. I can plan my whole life, wife and job and house, but it goes differently, someone has a better plan. Chorus: Heeyy, it's so easy to be happy. Heeyy, easy to be satisfied for what you have.
