Second Moderna shot coming up on March 8. Of course, I understand that this vaccine is designed to protect the vaccinated from becoming severely ill. It's not going to do away with the need for masking and social distancing. Apparently that's a hard concept for people sick of the pandemic's restrictions. My firm represents condominiums and homeowners' associations and everyone wants to open up clubhouses for card games and socializing.

Thanks for the information. Canada is way behind because of supply issues. Here in BC, the plan is now to space out the second vaccination by four months and try to get everyone the first vaccine by the end of July. I wanted to let an older friend know what to expect this month.
PS. I see that Canada’s chief science adviser is saying the vaccine spacing experiment might not be such a great idea. The story continues.

In May,my son is marrying a Canadian citizen who is here in the States pursuing an advanced degree. Sadly, she hasn't seen her family since the border closed, and she doesn't expect her mom will even attempt to come, given the issues with returning to Canada.

I had the Moderna shot yesterday with no effects. Even the shot itself was like a little prick. Is it done? Oregon has the worst vaccine rollout. Only 3,400 shots available and 400,000 attempts. We are allowing 65 and over to apply and next week the state will allow 45 and over. Insane.

There seems to be ample supply of vaccine here in midlands U.K. Everyone I know in my ‘band’ and above has received - and my local surgery is well ahead of the national timescale, hoping to be at the 40-45 age group within a fortnight.
I’ve had the first dose; the Oxford/AstraZeneca one - and was unwell when I hadn’t expected it at all. Within a few hours hours, developed headache, aching legs and uncontrollable shivers. But gone within 12 hours or so and well worth it.
Somehow it was weirdly comforting to have proof it was having some kind of effect! - though I do know it means nothing. Just very grateful to feel hope for normality soon.

Glad to hear most of you only had minor issues with the vaccines! Germany was one of the lucky ones in the first wave a year ago. This winter on the other hand has been a complete mess. IMO they waited too long to react and tried to plead with the public to be careful and socially distant, when the numbers were rising and rising in October. Now since the end of January and Feburar the numbers have finally come down but since it has been several month since we are in some form of lock down the calls to reopen are so loud, even though the numbers are rising again. (Apparently due to the mutations). I'll be honest: I'm stressed about what the next few weeks will bring.

I hope they will video the wedding so she can see it. The majority of the people I know have taken this very seriously and are following the rules about non-essential travel. I haven't seen my daughter in person in a year and she just lives off the Island.
