When Velvet came out I was instantly hooked. I listened to it constantly through all of the stress and trauma of 2020. The problem now is that even though I think the music is wonderful, I associate it with tough times. It's hard for me to play it any more which makes me sad.

So, despite what I said, we are watching the Grammys and are actually enjoying it pretty much. I need to check out Harry Styles a bit more... Hope Harry doesn't cause you the same problems Adam does lol.

The Velvet album had me hooked from the get-go! I love that album. Sure, I like certain songs more than others, but as a whole, it's an extremely strong album that met an unfortunate fate due to COVID. Adam will bring us new music, no doubt about that.
And I like Harry Styles. Really good voice. We're not watching the Grammys tonight. Half of me sees the whole thing as an unfair joke, and it is, in many respects. The other half of me realizes that Grammy noms and wins are doorways to great exposure, like SNL and the late-night shows, and interviews and guest spots and increased record sales. So I can't thumb my nose at the the whole thing. It has career value to those who win. I just want Adam to get a better shot. His music is as good as anybody's.

Can’t imagine anyone of Adam’s caliber coming along again soon anyhow to tempt me.

An album that does not sell or get much radio play or chart high and/or big streaming numbers (indie)is not going to compete in the pop categories. Velvet is great and better than many but didn't stand a chance with pop submissions. They have too many artists who have all those advantages going for them and still not enough room for all the heavy hitters.

Being the #1 album in the world with the #1 song for the past years, doesn't get you a nomination either. (The Weeknd) Indie albums and artists have done OK with the Grammys, particularly in the past 10 years. But the Grammys are organized by genre and Velvet is kind of genre traveling. If Adam put out a genre album, perhaps rock, he might have a much better shot. That said, the Grammys really don't seem to matter much anymore. JMHO.
