My company is just arriving today. Got to go make the stuffed cabbage rolls and do the cleaning I've put off while stanning. Son and DIL from Bay area in San Fran. I always keep my iPad close by. DD says she is going to have to have it surgically removed when I die.

Can't imagine why Adam wouldn't do the same promo RCA had Kelly, Daughtry, and Cook do when their singles were released, which was radio interviews (many via phone) and TV shows. Kelly was doing all of that before her official "add" date.I visualize, TV and radio this month, Music Video beginning of February. Then an Idol appearance in March. That is when Idol will go to LIVE shows. It will be perfect timing for him to perform the single on Idol and promo the album too. Oh, and I expect him to do Leno and ELLEN more than once. I can't imagine it either. There HAS to be some promo in January otherwise the early release makes no sense at all. I can't see that Kelly's 2nd single being released a week before Adam's (I think) would delay promo, do you? There's not a lot of promo for a 2nd single - and she's already been all over the place & then some. IT'S ADAM'S TURN!!! :D 'cause Adam's will be BETTERER! HIS PROMO WILL BE THE NEXT AGE PROMO! IT WILL BLOW EVERY OTHER PROMO OUT! ..that is all. sugaree - incredible! thank god you are safe! and the house is in tact and the driver went home....

I kind of hope RCA has some new innovative "cutting edge" promotion planned for Adam, as opposed to the "usual" promotion they have done for Kelly, Daughtry, and Cook. Those artists seem to be on the down slide, and don't have anywhere near the sales they used to, so I hope, they can work Adam in some new avenues that will generate interest that those artists have lost. Even though it was brought to Adam, I think things like the Queen appearance, are different, unique, and those type things will help him become more broadly noticed. But they've all received EXCELLENT promo opportunity. The material wasn't that strong, but even their fans couldn't blame lack of promo for the lack of sales. Therefore, they should be considered the BARE MINIMUM, from which Adam's team would build from, not "Hey! I know! Let's erase him from the face of the planet during and after his single dropping!!" I think the rules are changing. I don't know how, but lookin at my children, I think a lot of promo is escaping from the hands of medias like radio and going towards social media. And capability to create connection between music and individuals is the key. And Adam is a genius to use both, social media and creating meanings. So he will be fine. And again, I know nothing.

Wow, sugaree, it was amazing that no one was seriously injured! It made me think of an accident that happened kitty-corner from the apartment where I used to live in San Diego. I didn't witness the accident, only it's aftermath. (I'll pause while you all sing "in the afterma-a-ath.")
It's kind of hard to describe, but there was a parking lot tucked below a street. There was a sheer drop off of about thirty feet from the street to the parking lot below. A car missed a turn and went over the edge, flipped in the air, and landed upside down dead-center on another car.
I usually cut across the parking lot on my way home from work; on this day, I saw a lot of commotion there, so I stopped at the edge and then I noticed a car that had been completely flattened. They had already removed the car that had landed on it. I just kept imagining how it would be to park your car in the same lot you do every morning, then come back in the evening to find that your car had been squashed like a bug!

I am going to use Kris Allen's promo, during 2009, as an example here because the RCA guy in charge of radio/song promo now, was with JIVE at the time. Apparently, he is called "The King!" He had Kris doing radio interviews at every major station there is. He had Kris booked on every major Jingle Ball.... the big ones, NYC, etc. LLWD took off. I firmly believe, without that radio promo, LLWD would not have taken off like it did. On the other hand, RCA banked so much on the AMA performance they had Adam booked in NO Jingle Balls. They had to try to plug him into some, last minute to introduce other acts. : All the radio promo is the way one plays the game of getting a single played. Adam needs to do it all. I think he will get more print promo, with magazines, etc. and that may be the part that is "different." DMG seems to like that stuff. If Katy is any example, expect to see Adam on a cover near you soon! Adam is huge to us, but in reality, in many markets he is not. He still has to play the game to get played. Hopefully, after this single and the 2nd one (which I think might be bigger & better) he will enter that elite group of Pop stars that gets anything they release added immediately, Bruno, Gaga, Rhianna, Katy..... but he is not there yet. ETA: leenaseyez, sadly, it all boils down to radio play. If it gets spun a lot on Top 40 formats, it will sell. Having 1 million Twitter followers and being good at social media is not going to make BTIKM a platinum seller or the album either. So far, it just doesn't translate. I don't want to sound all doom and gloom because I am not. I think this single is amazing and it WILL get added easier to radio than the last era. I honestly expect it to make Top 10, maybe higher. But I also don't think the Pop world thinks that Adam is a special snowflake and doesn't need to do the promo that others have done to insure success.

....As we are driving, I see these big metal cans with frost on them in the back of the truck. "Hmmm, gee, what are those?" "That's where I store the bull semen." The guy's job is to drive from farm to farm (Wisconsin, dairy country) take a long tube filled with frozen semen out of the can, stick it up a cow's female parts and leave a deposit. Who knew that impregnating dairy cows could be a viable career option??? Awkward moment ??? ??? ??? Virginal college gal talking to middle aged guy about frozen semen. That's it. End of the story. Got to the farm, got a tow truck, got out of the ditch and continued on to college. But, if I ever write my memoirs, that story will be included. Bahahaha! As an old farm gal, this cracked me up! Just be glad he apparently wasn't the guy that had to 'collect' the bull semen! LOL

Hey all. I've been busy enjoying the holidays. Hope everyone here had a great time. Mahalia, so glad you're okay. cassie, a ride in a semen transport truck? Priceless. I've got a car story to share. It wasn't me or my car, but it definitely could have turned out bad. I was down in my basement doing laundry. I had contractors outside putting up a new deck. I'm totally oblivious to anything going on and come upstairs. The contractor screams at me "call 911". I say why? At the same time, my neighbor (who I'm really not friendly with) is banging on my door and yelling. I open the door and she comes rushing in and heads for the window right next to my computer desk. I look out and there is a car upside down with the wheels spinning about a foot away from my window and house. Turns out this woman came flying down the street, hit a car, hopped over the lawn across the street, going about 50 mph. Went across my neighbor's lawn, crashed into his very big, very sturdy flag pole and knocked it out of the ground. She came to a stop right outside my window. If I had been sitting there, I probably would have died of a heart attack. The authorities closed my street and there were all kinds of emergency vehicles and people on the street. They get the woman out of the car and sit her down on my steps asking if she is okay. She says - I kid you not - "I need to call Geico". Talk about an opportunity for a Geico commercial. She refused to go to the hospital, called a friend and went home. Check out the pictures. This is where I sit when I'm on the computer. s463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/littledeb10/?action=view¤t=100_0440.jpgs463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/littledeb10/?action=view¤t=100_0438.jpgHad it not been for that flagpole, I might not be here today and I definitely would have had a gaping hole through the wall of my living room. My neighbor and wife were out for a walk, my mailman was right up the street. It really could have been a disaster. Oh, I remember you posting that right when it happened. That was unreal.

(And hell, one day, in the far future, for charity or on a bet, or just to mess with people's minds, hear you sing an operatic aria. Well, at least nica and I do.) Me too!

I was visiting my daughter a years ago in a different house. She lived at the end of a street with an empty lot and a park next to her. On the far side of the park was a steep, high hill that went up to some woods then an overflow parking lot for a suburban hospital/medical center. It was so far up that there was no way you could see it. My sil and I were cooking in the kitchen when we thought we heard something, but weren't sure. I walked outside, didn't see anything, then heard someone groaning. A woman had gotten into her car in the parking lot, put it in drive, then had some kind of diabetes related issue. The car went through the (sparse) woods, down the hill, through the park, and down alongside our house. Ten more feet and she would have rolled down another hill and into a creek where she may not have been found for days. We called the mom next door who used to be a nurse, she figured out what happened, gave her some orange juice. Scary
