I had a pretty successful day yesterday, except for the 1 brownie and 2 glasses of wine.
For exercise, I did a slight variation of the leg lifts that Jablea recommended.
We went out to feed and get some wood for the fireplace. Hubby cut up about 35 logs, and I put them all in the truck, then unloaded them again at the house. Leg lifts came in and probably also the equivalent of holding milk jugs with lifting those logs! And all the walking back and forth between the wood, the truck, and the house, I know I got in 30 minutes of walking! Sometimes its relatively easy to get exercise here at the ranch. Yay me!

Sunday – Breathe
I have read 3 times this week of the importance of breathing. I got a book “The 7 day Energy Surge” which has practicing deep breathing as one of its daily exercises. The Prevention Magazine sales booklet that came in my newspaper says to breathe in and out thru both nose and mouth helps oxygen get where it needs to fuel your fat burn. And my masseuse had me do it as she was working on my hamstrings. (yeah, I bet yours hurt too, since you’re all computer junkies like me lol) She told me to breathe all the way down my spine and into my hips. So like a good little listener I breathed like Adam, filling the entire barrel of my upper body and feeling my hips move with each breath. So try it now, slow breath in but don’t stop at a third of the way full like we usually do, keep going. Breathe in until you can’t expand any more and then breathe out, pushing till the end to get the stale dregs out. I found it very entertaining to feel my body and discover how much more I could breathe in.
Mahalia, sounds like you got your weight lifting and such in for sure. I checked my rabbit and chicken feed bags and found they were 50 pounders too. I guess if I were training for the biggest loser we'd have to lift and throw, lift and throw, lift and throw those bags from the truck to the storage shed just for the heck of it, or carry them 100 yards and back while stepping over logs. Something tells me I'm not designing that type of exercise........ maybe.
Star, glad things are weighing well, I'm hopefull this week too.
Irish, have you tried poaching your fish? Simmer in water with a bayleaf. The sauce I've been using has yogurt, mayo, and tarragon and it's not cooked. I'll have to try yours next time.
And lol, someone tell Q3 we've had a recipe thread for a year now.
JustKaren, I think I remember you talking about your gazelle last time. The one I had didn't have any resistance but I'm wishing now I hadn't sold it at a yard sale. Maybe I could have hung some weights on it or something.

Checking in early this week because I am expecting this week to be a busy one! I have not weighed myself, but am making progress with being more mindful with my day to day life. Over the last several months, I have made a more concerted effort to be more kind to myself. I have always loved to dance and listen to music, and am now taking an adult ballet class once a week. I can see and feel progress in my ability and my mood. I have also re-joined a local health club and am trying a variety of equipment and classes. (Hip hop was a fail, but maybe belly dancing will go better?) I am trying to live bravely and am trying to open my mind to new experiences. I credit Adam and all of you for at least some of my adventuresome energy.
As for food and weight, I am an emotional eater, so I am paying more attention to that. I am repeating more affirming statements, such as I am happy with exactly how I am now, so that there is less guilt after a weak moment eating a sweet. (The last of the Christmas cookies has been consumed at my house!) I am also trying to celebrate good days of better eating, exercising, meditating and connecting with people.
Hope we all have a great week. It will be a busy one for me.

solar1, sounds like you are enjoying yourself and that's so important. Lol, hip hop didn't work out hmm? I can see how ballet and music fit as they are more feeling the music vs reacting to it. I am quite convinced that sweets are essential but I have been trying to broaden my definition. I haven't figured out if I'm an emotional eater but I do know that I am a nervous one.

Monday - Check in Day #2
We watched Ground Hog Day, the movie, last week so I feel like saying. "It's check-in day. Again."
You all haven't been that talkative this week so I'm anxious to hear how it has been going.

Quick checking in..
Goal 25, this week 2.8, total 7.3
I wish I had more time to share thoughts with you, but RL disturbs really badly. I've been really busy. And because English isn't one of my strenghts, it takes ages to write something you might understand. :D
I think the week went good and I didn't have too big problems to eat healty. I still didn't meet my exercise goal (4 times a week), but maybe next week.

Hello everyone WEEK 2 Goal: 6K LOSS TW: .6K ----- TOTAL LOSS: 1.35K (converter says 2.97 lbs) Again, very happy to go along slow but steady .... but more rewarding than the numbers on the scale, was that two different people have commented this past week on how "healthy" and happy I look and one of them (my usually non observant son) said it looks like I'm losing weight !! MY NEW MOTTO: The biggest change I have made this week is getting more sleep - I have made myself retire an hour earlier than usual and have found that I feel a bit more energetic in the day even after a busy/stressful one ... While the weather holds out (average daily temp is 30 degrees C right now) I'm still enjoying my aqua-aerobics - I just change up the routine to make sure I'm stretching all muscle groups and not getting bored. Jablea you had asked if I do it in a group ... no - just on my own ..one of the advantages of having your own pool is that you can do what you want... when you want to - it's just a matter of keeping self motivated - and that is where this group is so great .. I love sharing and reading about everyone's journeys ... it's wonderful how just a few words typed thousands of miles away can push you back on track... keep up the good work and to everyone :

One thing I know is that this diet works. Both husband and I lost the same amount of weight.
Goal: 25 lbs. Loss: 3 lbs. Total: 7.4 (me) 8 (him))
This week the diet changes by increasing calories and amount of food. Instead of 1/2 fruit in the morning, we can eat 1 whole fruit. The snacks at night change. We get to eat four cups of popcorn (no butter) Tuesday night and tonight we get to have an english muffin for a snack (with diet margarine). It feels like we are getting real treats because of the increase. How easy it is to fool your brain.
This diet is suppose to be changing your metabolism. We will see if it does when we get weighed next monday after increasing calories and the amount of food we are eating this week.
Exercise: The bane of my existence. I have been doing leg lifts and will continue. In a few minutes I am going to do a weight tape for seniors. I do need to keep what muscle I have left strong. The book also said that the best time to do exercise is the first hour after you eat as it keeps your metabolism going longer. Apparently, the act of eating and digesting increases your metabolism.
The hard part is never feeling stuffed. I guess for me the enjoyment of food and feeling stuffed after eating is a plus. I have to get used to feeling "not stuffed" after I eat and liking that feeling. I don't know if you can relate to what I am saying but I have gained and lost so much weight since I was 16 that sometimes being thin doesn't feel as good as being satisfied and fat (even though being thin is healthier). I think the people who yo-yo will understand what I mean. Fat people have to get used to the feeling of being thin when they diet. Even if you are not really hungry, that feeling of hunger remains with you when you are thin. It's a brain thing, or a brain chemical thing. I just wish I could conquer it because it would solve all my weight issues.
I just have to keep trying. I keep visions in my head of those people who have to be lifted out of their houses with a crane and thank my lucky stars that it isn't me (because it could be). I have fat people in my family-really fat people-300-400 lb. fat people.
Have a good day ladies, and "think thin."
