Checking in - I am really amazed to report a 1/2 lb loss for this week. I didn't do very well with exercising. Since my goal is 15 lbs, and I didn't count the first week's loss of 1-1/2 lbs., I still have most of my goal to reach.
Thanks Jablea for providing some exercise suggestions. I still am needing to put myself on an exercise "program", haven't figured that out yet. I am walking, but not as part of a routine of exercise, just the normal stuff I do here around the ranch. I am drinking more water, eating smaller portions of food, and trying to cut out sweets, with some success, but not complete success. I will have a very busy schedule for the rest of the month, so getting in the exercise will be hard to fit in. But I will keep at it.
meandream ~ great results, you go girl!!

Just checking in to say yay for this thread--it helps me be accountable.
Had a so-so week...best news is I've gotten "mindful" again of what/when I eat. It's not as easy as it was 3 years ago when I lost so much weight, and I just figured out why. I controlled everything that was in my kitchen at that time. I don't now. My roommate, who is naturally thin and eats healthy--but can eat anything she wants and loves to bake--has tempting treats around all the time!
So I invested time in preparing healthy snacks that are easy to grab from the fridge (vegetables) and when she has a plate of brownies on the counter, I have something I can gnaw on until the urge to grab something sweet goes away!
I walked more, drank a LOT more water, cut carbs down to 100 a day (or close to that).
So, results of first week for me: Goal 25, lost 2. (I borrowed neighbor's scales...helps me to weigh weekly.)
It's a start!

Goal 20lbs to date: 2.0 lbs Hi all ! I've been MIA, because our family had two deaths, in the last month, very sad Yule season. I also have a close sister- in -law in NICU battling cancer. Our family has been overwhelmed. Trying to stay positive, meditate more, and make good food choices. Last weekend I found out I like green smoothies, and that steam cleaning the rugs is a pretty good workout, lol. I am taking the stairs at work, and checking out the workouts on video on demand(Comcast). We have a Wii Micheal Jackson Dance game challenge planned this weekend. If nothing else, my MJ moves will get our family laughing again I've lost a couple pounds, but probably more from stress and being too busy at work to eat. Hopefully things will settle down now. Hoping for an early spring in 2012 We have had a very mild winter this year in Minnesota. I am an extreme gardener, and can't wait to get my hands in the dirt, again.

Quick checking in.. Goal 25, this week 2.8, total 7.3 I wish I had more time to share thoughts with you, but RL disturbs really badly. I've been really busy. And because English isn't one of my strenghts, it takes ages to write something you might understand. :D I think the week went good and I didn't have too big problems to eat healty. I still didn't meet my exercise goal (4 times a week), but maybe next week. Mean dream, Your English is good. Hope you have a less stressful week

Hi! This is my first official week, so no results to report.
I plan to follow the same sort of plan that helped me lose 70lbs a year and a half ago. I have strayed from the eating and exercising habits that were successful for me, and have gained about 15 back...not too bad, but i could stand to lose that and about 10 more...so my goal is 25.
My first mini goal is to give up diet coke (again)...and all other things that include nutrasweet or aspartame. On the plane on the way home from the Fantasy Springs concert, I was sitting next to a dietitian and we had a lengthy discussion about the evils of nutrasweet...I stopped cold turkey that day and I really think it helped my efforts. She said that although there are no calories in it, Nutrasweet causes our bodies to crave sugar.
I also need to get back in a DAILY exercise program...I still work out a few times a week, but I know that to be successful, I need to work out at least 5-7 times a week.
Good job everyone...and good luck this week!!

Just finished reading the recent posts...this weight thing IS NOT EASY!
I weighed myself ...and thought maybe I best go to the bathroom and then weigh myself again...well no real difference so basically .. I have to confess after losing 3 pounds last week I am UP 1 pound. =2lb loss
HMMM what can I say. I skated Mon Tuesday Friday. I worked out both Wednesday and Sunday with a trainer and he wants to work my upper body mainly with core addtions.
exercise goal: Tough week ahead as getting some work done on my legs and cannot exercise for a week!!! Upper body work maybe.
I was out for 2 dinners and had salad with grilled chicken no dressing. But did go overboard one day.I went with gal friends to a Thai place for lunch ordered the grilled chicken veg and rice. Well it came loaded with a sauce. Why should I think it wouldn't I don't know!! Should have asked for sauce on side!!! Sure was tasty though. I only ate half brought the rest home and gave to hubby as part of his dinner. I ate popcorn and had a hot chocolate at a hockey game because I was craving "something". How sad and BAD is that!
food goal additions: -Like hoopla I need to organize a treat that is not a sugar fix! -And Lakota...my achilles heel is I love a diet coke..usually 2 a day. Maybe cut to one for a bit by pouring out a half glass twice versus a whole glass each time.
Good luck everyone! .....bad choice of words...is isn't luck ...is it!!!

Hi guys! I've been MIA for a bit here. RL got in the way...had a house guest with an injury....who really likes cake....UGH! So I took care of her and dutifully bought (and ate) the cake and everything else she wanted. I know....it was such a hardship for me to eat that cake...she had to force it down me day after day.... ... She's back home now and doing fine. Now it's time to re-focus on me. I haven't even caught up on all the daily news threads yet, but I'm determined to get back on track with shaping up. I haven't read all of this thread either, but I'll check in now. First week here I lost 3 lbs, but as of this morning, I've only lost 1 lb overall. I expected worse with all the goodies I had. I'm re-setting my goal to 20 lbs by March 20 to keep it doable. That's about 2lb/week. Exercise is not my strong suit, but that's on the agenda, too. I also ran out of my thyroid meds last week and the doc wants a blood test to prescribe more. I can't expect to lose weight if I let the hypothryroidism get out of control. I've an app't today to get that done. So I should be good to go! I'll check back again later... after I've read about how you all are doing. Hope everyone is seeing some progress!

Checking in: Goal 25 this week 1.1 total 3.1 This week was difficult. I didn't get as much exercise as usual and I've been busy and very tired. I'm keeping the food diary and trying to reach the goals in the program. I'm still struggling with getting the percentages of different foods right. Also I still find it difficult to not eat too much in one meal. I definitely have to learn how to distribute the eating more evenly during the day. I've been also thinking about setting more concrete exercise goals, but I haven't been able to decide what kind of goals to set. I've tried to push myself a little when jogging to run longer and a bit faster, but one of the reasons I have difficulty to increase the distance is my weight. My lungs and heart could handle more my knees can't. :( I have a recommendation for great exercise that is very popular here Aqua jogging en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquajogging. I do it once a week with my mom. The public swimming pools here provide equipment and place for it. I could imagine in the warmer climates where people have their own pools it would be very easy sport to do at home. The pool doesn't have to be very large. It is very good exercise for everyone all ages and shapes, but when someone has difficulty with exercising it is very good because one can get very efficient exercise with it without it hurting too much. Here are couple videos
