Awwww hwc thank you for the encouragement! Maybe I'll treat myself to a small glass of wine tonight along with grilled turkey burgers. :D Interesting that you don't enjoy a meal full of carbs anymore! I was watching the football game last night & they kept showing Burger King ads with this guy stuffing his face with big juicy french fries. I honestly thought UGH - I wouldn't eat those if somebody put them in front of me. I had no desire for them AT ALL. I hope I can become like you & use carbs sparingly just for variety & not because I'm craving them. I don't want to cut out all carbs FOREVER - I'd like to be able to eat some fruit every now & then too. I'm just trying to be real strict for acouple weeks to jumpstart my system. And then......I'm totally ready for the evil & discouraging PLATEAU. >:( It's gonna happen. I'll come cry on your shoulder when it does. ;D

Checking in. Weight loss this week 0lb again
Total weight loss 2lb.
Must try and cut down on the carbs. I'm trying hard to look at this positively. At least I didn't gain. Still need to work on putting that mouse down and stepping back from the computer. There was so much news last week that it was just too hard.

After you've cut back on carbs for a while, you will see what people are eating, or cooking on the Food Network, and just gag at the crazy carb loading. I'll buy a loaf of rye bread every month or so and have a few turkey or tuna sandwiches for change of pace lunches. I have a tortilla with fajitas. I'll have the ocaissional serving of mushroom ravioli. But, it is shocking how much carbs people eat, morning, noon, and night. Fruit is my guilty pleasure. It used to be those 100 calorie italian ices, but now it's a 100 calorie apple or blackberries or strawberries. Same sugar, but at least there is some fiber and stuff along with it.

Getting around to my checking in post. I told you earlier it would be up. Yep +2, I didn't gain everything back that I lost last week "small yay". Total -2.
Well there was snow and donuts and a thanksgiving turkey dinner that was a couple of months late. And my dad is staying with us which, since we rub hackles now and then, puts my stress level up to the point that I keep getting out the blood pressure checker. This place is my Valium or whatever it is that people take these days to zone out. Even the numbers angst doesn't come close to putting me over the edge. Hence the brownies on my counter. Yeah, well don't judge me lol.
So anyway, all excuses. I have been having salads every day and doing interval training on that stationary bike I bought. It says I've ridden 175 miles since I got it. I think this week will be better again.

Thanks HWC and Irish for sharing your smoking cessation stories! I am also trying to focus on eating only "good" carbs this week. I was able to avoid the 4 layered double chocolate cake in the breakroom yesterday. (It tested my resolve several times though.) Ballet class today...

I am always late to check in. Yesterday was the first day of a 3 day juice fast -- I needed to do something to jump start because I was being pretty lazy about the whole thing. I bought a VitaMix blender last year and started making smoothies as supplements for a while but now I am using them as meal replacements. Yesterday wasn't so bad until later in the evening -- I really wanted to chew on something. But I already feel less bloated.
Ingredients include a variety of fresh and frozen fruits, spinach, kale, wheat germ, and flax seeds. It's green but tastes like fruit -- as long as there is a banana that is all you really taste. Today I am going to make one that is probably like a gazpacho -- tomatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, celery, cucumber, cilantro, S&P, and some tobasco for a little kick.
