Thursday - Chocolate
Hoopla asked the other day about chocolate so I figured since I can't live without it, let's talk about it.
Why am I always quoting Dr. Oz anymore? Anyway I think he recomends it, I've seen research that the dark chocolate is associated with weight loss. For me it's just a matter of necessity. I might go Cuckoo without it. Choc chips are my standby, try to eat them one at a time instead of by the handful. Nutella on whole grain wheat thins really comforts me. I figure anything with oats in it, even if a cookie has got to be good for you. I bought some carob coated peanuts the other day, hmm ya liked them too much. Seems I'll find just about anything to justify my craving. I do notice my chocolate craving tends to be from stress and the really bad cravings come after every meal when I need that chocolate aftertaste to feel complete.
Well....hmmmm. I think I'm a poster child for chocolate addiction that's probably not helping hoopla. Anyone have ideas on how she can have a little and I can learn to moderate my cravings?
And to ladyoz and chapf.... love the toons, thanks. Alison, for something to chew while juicing try sugar-free "5" gum. Recommended by dentists everywhere.

How about a cup of sugar free and/or fat free cocoa. I think real cocoa and skim milk can be made with just a small amount of real sugar and still be okay on a diet. They have a real dark chocolate cocoa out now.
Also, isn't there a recipe out there for cookies that calls for cocoa, and something else, and oats. It is some kind of no bake cookie. I used to make them for my kids years ago.
What about those 100 calorie snack packages. Some of them have chocolate in them. Also, there are some protein bars that have chocolate drizzled on them. Some have only 70 calories.

I had a really bad day yesterday. The first one since I started the diet. I bitched and moaned the whole day. Finally, in the afternoon I took a nap, and at night I went to bed early and luckily, fell asleep. I know if I go off this diet once, it will be all over. I must not go off it. For me, I have to be rigid when I diet, because I am so in love with food. It is an obsession with me. I love cooking and eating. I know they say you should indulge when you have days like that but from prior experience, I know I have to stay the course. It is so hard. I do feel better today, and I am glad I didn't succumb to my cravings for food, any kind of food. It is so hard, just as hard as quitting smoking if you ask me.

eeeek!!!! I'm a bad, bad influence. I'll be better I swear, don't make me do upside down pushups. irish, glad you are hanging in there, I hope today is better. Feel free to keep posting your daily diet in here like you did the first week. You can be the good influence on the rest of us. I got out my can of V8 juice last night and set it on my desk so I'd have no excuse not to drink it. Maybe I'll go have another.

Okay, I don't want to corrupt anybody so you might want to scroll......
TraderJoes has a low carb dark chocolate bar that I eat when I need chocolate. It's Simply Lite Dark Chocolate. It's a large bar that breaks into 12 pieces and 1 serving is 3 pieces. Each 3 piece serving has: 100 cal. 1 effective carb 8 gm fat
Nom, nom, nom!!!

Atkins has some low carb snack bars that have lots of chocolate in them & they're pretty tasty. They range from 150-180 calories and 2-4 carbs per bar. And the bars are a decent size - like a really fat granola bar, so you feel like you're actually EATING something.

You can also make Jello instant pudding in chocolate fudge (just mix with non-fat milk) & top it with non-fat Cool Whip. Not many calories & tastes like chocolate. :D

Friday - Levis
The word is "Levis don't lie". They don't stretch (well too much) so if the scale scares you use the easy measuring tape, your favorite pair of levis.
I've started wearing a pair that oh-my has seen better days as my work out clothes if for no other reason than they make my belly seem a little flatter. It's the modern corset and they don't let you eat much when you sit down to dinner. So everyone take out your pair that is snug and let's work on making them loose.
