I am only a cheerleader on the list. You never know how much you guys have inspired me. I can't afford to lose weight and that doesn't mean I'm in good health. I need to build up muscles. I have no discipline and get hurt easily by doing those GYM type thing. After reading your weekly reports, I admired your commitment and have started my own plan. I have been walking inside house since Jan 12, from 300 steps to 5 minutes to 10 minutes. Only once per day. It is not really a workout, more like a self discipline training for me. So, hang in there my fellow Atopers, for you and for me!

Well, I am late checking in, and am really embarassed. I went to the dr. yesterday to get my thyroid bloodwork done, weighed on the "official" scale, and found that my home scale is 3 lbs. lite! Very bad news! So now, I have no clue what is going on, and haven't lost any weight, now I find that I am 3 lbs over what I thought! How Rude!
Good news: I am finished with all my reports and paper work, and hopefully will be able to get serious about this by next week. We still have 6 or 7 weeks left of the Tresspasing challenge, so maybe I can catch up, or work harder to make my goal of 15 lbs.
KUDOS to everyone for sticking with it and such great results!

mahailia, doctors scales always weigh over what your scale at home does. Keep using your home scale. Don't worry about what is going on with the doctor's scale.
I just got a call from my doctor's office regarding my cholesteral level. I can't take statins so my cholesteral normally runs anywhere from 250 to 270. This time I waited until I had been on the diet for three weeks before I went for my bloodwork. Lo and behold, my cholesteral was only 215. I am ecstatic. My LDL went from 173 to 142, My good cholesteral is only at 38 which isn't good. It should be at least 40 but that is due to lack of exercise I am told. What I did learn is that you can lower your cholesteral by diet. On second thought, it may be that African Mango I am taking. That is suppose to lower your cholesteral too. I don't know how it happened but I am so glad it is 215 instead of 270.
mahailia, just keep plugging away. Scales are crap. It is how you feel, and how your clothes fit.

While your scales may be a bit off, I wouldn't trust any scales to be right. You know where you started and you will know when you lose 10 lbs (???) or what ever. It's all relative. And when you look in the mirror and are happy or your clothes fit right or you feel healthy and strong, you will know when you are done.

On cholesterol: If you reduce your carbs, your triglyercides will go way down. Triglycerides are fat particles made in the liver from the metabolism of carbs and especially sugar.
To increase your HDL good cholesterol, start eating good fats like olive oil and take some fish oil gelcaps each day. If you can get the ratio of those two in a good range, the total cholesterol and the LDL don't really much matter. BTW, the link between cholesterol numbers and heart disease has never been established for women at all. For men, it's only been established for men under 60 who have already had a heart attack or heart disease. A brand new study shows that women on statin drugs to lower their cholesterol got diabetes more often then women not on statins, even after adjusting for other factors like weight, etc.
On weighing yourself: If you are going to live by the scale, then weigh yourself first thing in the morning. Get up, go to the bathroom, take off the PJs and hop on the scale. That will be your lowest weight of the day. It's quite likely you'll weigh two or three pounds more later in the day after drinking and eating. That's why the doctor's scales are always depressing.
I had a killer workout today.

mahailia, Just like the last few comments have said, the measurement is all relative, just keep weighing yourself on the same scale to know if you are up or down...doesn't matter the number ...just how much you loose or gain. Keep on truckin'.
Funny the mention of most of us weighing more at the doctors. (clothes on.... time of day etc.)..... I went for my yearly physical in November. I was measured for height at 5 feet 4.5 inches. I said .."what!!! I am shrinking! I have always been 5ft 5".
The nurse said... NO YOUR NOT shrinking.... we just learned our measurement scale on the wall has been out a half inch since ...forever. (haha...thought I was taller than I am)

I can't report this weeks results. When I tried to do my weight in on Monday morning my scale had run out of power. Unfortunately my small local store doesn't sell the right kind of batteries and I don't have time to go look elsewhere this week.

Yep, hubby's good and bad cholesterol improved quite a bit on a low carb diet.

Thursday - Buy a Belt
I've never had a particular fondness for belts, they tend to be an extra step when you are in a hurry or they are attached to the wrong pair of pants so you have to thread them on the right ones, etc. But I've decided that they are good for two things: making sure your pants don' gap embarrassingly open or droop down around your hips, and for holding in your belly making you feel slenderer.
So I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Did I already tell you that? Can't remember the days are running together aaaaa aaaaaa ,<<<<those were screams in case you couldn't hear me.
Oh, back on the subject of belts. So anyway I have two pairs I'm wearing with the belt and I'm quite happy with it. It makes me look slenderer which makes me feel slenderer and there's no room for food. Yep. Plus when I lose pounds again (hangs head in regret for last 2 weeks) then I'll be able to cinch it up another notch. Yeah! Oh, and I bought lettuce and had a salad for lunch again, something sadly missing the last week or so, so hopefully back on track.
Ok, done rambling. Shoot is it already Thursday?
