Hi to all!
I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow up on my thyroid. I have been on thyroid med for 25 years. Anyway, my dosage was too high, so the doctor lowered it, but he is concerned about my colestrerol, and wants to put me on meds for it unless I can get it down through diet and exercise. Now that is an incentive, as I hate taking drugs. Will have to go back and read through the thread for info on colestrerol lowering methods, I know there is some great info here.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I'm still juicing--replacing 1 or 2 meals a day depending on willpower and availability of healthy meals. I'm fitting in my 1 size smaller clothes that were getting really tight. Still not doing much in the way of exercise. Baby steps. Onward and upward.

Where is everybody?
I just went through this thread a copied down everything I found interesting or useful regarding diet, exercise, juicing, food choices, and cholestrol info and put it in a word document.
I also copied all of my entries here, so I could see what I have said week by week. Overall, I have lost 2 lbs. since joining this thread. Not very impressive. Even more unimpressive, is that I really haven't started exercising yet.
I have 10 weeks before I have to go back to the doctor to have my cholestrol checked, and if it isn't down, he wants to put me on meds, what is that one they adverstise? Plaxil? Can't remember the name of it. Anyway, as I have said several times already, I really need to get serious on this!
I bought a big box of Cheerios, and plan to eat that for lunch everyday instead of a sandwich and chips. I will put a banana on it to sweeten it. I love the Honey Nut Cheerios, but figured the plain ones would have less sugar in them.
I am also going to start taking an Omega 3 supplement, and cut out bread, pasta, potatoes, and all fried foods. I don't fry food very often, the hardest thing for me will be giving up bread. I eat only whole wheat bread, but bread is bread is bread.
Think I might be able to get hubby to take a 30 minute walk with me everyday, and going to finally open that Just Dance game for the XBox Kinnect.
Guess everyone is busy with all the Adam activities, I miss reading everyone's posts here!
Come back, yall! All your stories and progress give me motivation and inspiration!

Hi guys, it is Friday! I made a small improvement this week. I am back to practice serve, only 70 balls now. My goal is back to 140, 3 times a week. AND I walk outdoor for 10 minutes. After serve, I walk around the tennis court 10 times. Even this is such a small step, I am very happy with myself. Hang in there, my fellow Atopers! Because of you, I stick to my plan.

For those of you tired of veggies, I have a nice recipe for yellow squash. I take two medium (enough for two people) yellow squash and cut into one-quarter inch rounds and one-half onion sliced. I steam the squash and onion until just slightly soft. Pour softened squash and onion into a bowl. Add four tablespoons of cottage cheese, pepper, mix and throw into a baking dish. Sprinkle some romano cheese on top and bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees. For some reason, this is my husband's favorite, and he doesn't even like squash.
I am getting so sick of veggies and fish that it is becoming boring to diet. So any new recipes are helpful to me. I just spent $18 on a bag of frozen jumbo shrimp. Never spent that much on a bag of shrimp before but the orange roughy and talapia are getting to me. Gagging all over the place.
I have had to squirt some lemon into my water to get it down also. Plain water is beginning to gag me too since I drink at least 32 oz. a day plus a cup of green tea and a cup of coffee (sometimes two). And I wonder why I am getting up all night to go to the bathroom.
I still haven't strayed off the diet. I have to say when I put my mind to something I can do it. I am so weak though because I know all I have to do is go off it once and it will be over. I am truly an all or nothing person. We are putting in our laminate today. Can't wait to see my new kitchen and dining room floor.
Onward and upward ladies. Stay focused. Monday is weigh-in.

Hey irish, have you completely cut out meat? I might be able to help with recipes.

No, I eat meat. Usually eat 2 fish meals a week for dinner. Tuna for lunch. Hamburg patty one night, or make a stroganoff sauce with the hamburger meat and put it over 1/2 c. noodles or rice. Chicken the rest of the time. One beef meal a week. I've crock potted a pork roast. I bought a 2 1/4 pound roast and cut it in half for two meals. When I can eat something other than fish or chicken, I feel like I am having a treat. One night a week we get 1/2 cup of spaghetti with sauce, a small tossed salad, and a small roll. Only two breads a week. Everything is measured and weighed. Rather strenuous diet.
We have been on the 1983 Hilton Head diet for six weeks. Next week, we are going on the revised 1990 Hilton Head diet. From what I have read, it is even more strenuous with just 3-4 oz. of meat for dinner instead of 5-6 oz. which we have been doing for the last 6 weeks.

Sunday - Crunches
Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. RL is a drag. But here's a great exercise that I do almost every day. Pilate crunches Lay on your back on that yoga mat I said you should get. Bend your knees and raise your legs toward your chest so that the knee thru toe part is parallel to the ground. Put your arms out on either side of knees or even better hold something fairly large but light weight and hold it above your knees (I use a Pilates squeeze circle) Lift your head off the ground Straighten your legs at a 45 degree angle while simultaneously moving your arms back over your head. Bring arms and knees together again. This does wonders for me, especially for problems associated with older women who've had children. I don't know how many calories I burn but it works my stomach muscles without any stress on my back. The 4:00 to 4:30 mark on this video is pretty much what I'm talking about.

Irish, I've got a water additive suggestion that even my kid likes and it's 0 calories.
A bit expensive I think but it's also your multivitamin so it's a couple of things in one. It's called EcoDrink Daily. I bought mine at Costco. I dilute each packet into 4-6 cups of water. It comes with a 2 cup bottle which made the mixture way to sweet. I use it in one water bottle a day and drink plain water from the other.
