After I saw Adam in Oakland, I did want more lol! But resisted buying another ticket and taking more time off work. I did watch a Facebook live with most of the show in Wheatland and it was awesome! And I also listened last night to the audio stream of that show. In the spirit of being honest, I felt a little sad when I heard Adam (twice I think) mention that the pandemic botched his rollout of the Velvet album. It is unclear how much promotion it would have had (not being on a major label) but we can all agree that it was definitely affected by the pandemic. He was so proud of it! I gotta say, I wished we could have heard more than 2 songs from it on the tour. I prefer his music to the covers, but I do get why he does them, and he always puts the Adam spin on them and makes them great!
Before I got the bivalent booster, I went on a (long postponed) trip to Africa for 3 weeks and hardly masked (except on planes) and was healthy the entire time, then after I got the bivalent booster, went on another trip, and boom, got COVID. Also managed to stay healthy spending 5 days in Vegas last year when I saw 2 Adam shows plus a Gaga show. I think I got a bit lazy with my masking in 2022, also new variants must be more contagious. I was so sure I was one of those who would never get it, oh well.

I don't know which concert Demi cancelled but she is playing pretty much the same size venues as Adam this time and she has had many radio hits. For me, I'm not into the heavy Halloween makeup and big baggy costumes (glad that others are tho) so would not pay that much money and travel across the country for the experience. But if Adam came within several hours of me, I would go. I traveled 6 hours and paid a small fortune to see him with QAL pre pandemic, lol. It was wonderful with great outfits, lighter makeup (he was gorgeous) and stellar performance as always. I would travel that far for something like the early Velvet concerts pre pandemic. Loved the stunning outfits, his band and the backup singers. Was so excited about that era before it ended. Even tho these latest outings, starting with the last Vegas show, are not for me, I still wish him great success. It is one version of Adam that many enjoy. And he changes up in different eras so there is something for everyone. Always Adam no matter what visual style but enjoy some versions better than others. And I would still pay a fortune to see him but just not for a Halloween theme show. Still love that other fans love it and will attend and he has not had to cancel. Rocketing costs and drop in ticket sales force musicians to pull tour datesMusicians are cancelling concerts and entire tours because the rising costs of staff and materials coupled with a drop off in ticket sales is making them too expensive to run.Earlier this month, US band Animal Collective cancelled forthcoming European dates as“not sustainable”. Within days, the UK downtempo producer Bonobo called time on future live shows in America, describing them as “exponentially expensive”. Then electronic musician Tourist rescheduled a US stint, saying “sometimes tickets just don’t get sold”. These announcements follow cancellations from acts including Santigold, Demi Levato, Poppy Ajudha and Mercury prize winner Little Simz. “Every week we see another act cancelling a tour. It’s not a decision people take lightly,” says Sybil Bell, founder of Independent Venue Week. “It’s such a tough time and the production world is being decimated.” www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/rocketing-costs-and-drop-in-ticket-sales-force-musicians-to-pull-tour-dates/ar-AA13gOcg?li=BBnbfcLGiven the rising tour costs - traveling, staff and band members to pay, venue fees.. - I am afraid that Adam won't be able to tour the country as freely anymore, at least not for a while. For the Witch Hunt tour I was lucky to live "relatively" close to seek him out. I personally didn't need a Halloween themed show either, but I was ready to take whatever I can get as I really enjoy solo Adam. For me, especially with this latest show, it is definitely the voice that comes through. I do understand however that others feel differently.

Adam has not put out any new music. He has no music to promote. The ones getting the performance slots in the US have music out. They used their down time during the pandemic to have music and albums ready to go the minute the coast was clear. When Adam has a new album to promote, my guess is he will be on US shows doing his own new music as he did in the past. But we may have a long wait according to him. He is on a tv show in the UK so naturally there will be more promotional opportunities for him there. He may do some tribute shows or other events in the US but they will likely be covers if he gets those opportunities.
ETA: Carrie Underwood was always a good album seller and she was ready to release after the pandemic. When her album only sold 30K a few months ago her fans had a meltdown. But things are different for most now and she does arena tours in the US.

To lurleene and others in this conversation, it does make me feel better to know that other artists are finding it necessary to cancel concerts due to low sales. Adam's Witch tour is not a long one, so the lower attendance isn't being felt over many weeks. But still, it's true that people are not going to concerts like they were pre-COVID. Unless you're going to a huge arena tour for a current A-lister. Those acts always draw, no matter what. But when you're a mid-level artist, it's risky and expensive to set up tours of almost any size. Adam is not alone in this, as we plainly see. I am not attending this tour because it's just too far away and the timing is wrong for me. The vids are great, BTW!
If QAL had never been a part of Adam's career, I think his strategies would have been completely different. Not sure how, but just different. He may have built a bigger solo fanbase by performing more frequently in different places around the US with more time to produce solo music. It's obvious that QAL has taken up gobs of his time each year, time that he would have spent in other ways. QAL is a priceless job to have, but we'll never know what a "solo-only" career would have looked like for Adam up to this point. He'll have years ahead of him, post-QAL, to market himself as best he can. Hope his current management and label work hard to him. And he looks spectacular in white.

Thank you for the great news about last night's show! People were there having fun and singing along. Adam must have been thrilled! And some younger fans, too, makes it even better.
