Strange. I listen to the American DJ interviews of Adam and I feel as though I am in a time warp. It's like they are pickig up from 2010. The new American interviews are like the international inteviews we watched years ago. WUT!!! WHat do you mean exactly? (It might be me.. I'm exhausted. After a week of RL and Adan stanning, I am also .... exhausted. How do I explain?.... I don't have any empirical evidence. It's just an impression from the interviews that I have seen this before, but not in America. I have seen this type of DJ interaction in Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Holland, Germany, etc. The interviews just sort of free wheel and go with him and let Adam be Adam. That's the best I can do.

It interested me that she asked that question. I've been wishing that Adam would ditch the canned backup vocals on the live performances. His lead vocals are so incredibly good that when combined with the canned backup vocals I've been wondering if might give the impression he's not really singing to casual listeners. JMHO though, never been a fan of using canned stuff in live performances. There is more in the backing tracks than a third vocal part. There is, at least, some added percussion. In particular, there is a hi-hat cymbal part throughout a lot of the song that is steady 16th notes (I forget which xxx-i quaver it is for the Europeans :-/). Isaac never plays those. LOL - when we were watching the BTIKM performance on Ellen I asked my DH "who is making that loud fast rat-a-tat sound?". DH couldn't hear it since his ears are damaged from years of being a rock musician, but now you've answered my question, thank you!

Yeah I kinda agree with you here. Nothing Ryan said was technically untrue--he just kinda twisted the truth to fit his demeaning and ageist joke, even if those drunk ladies need to reign it in a bit. Oy. I think it's more of a reflection of the messed up values of society in general than anything else. Gay people should be HAY GURL HAY stereotypes that make over your house but not actually have sex and people--women especially--over a certain age should wither away and die to make room for the hot youngins. I don't think Ryan was trying to actively sabotage him at all, I just think he was trying to be funny and just went about it in the worst way possible. Without any class. Cheap humor with little thought. But I don't think he is a bad guy or should be vilified. He prolly has his onw~issues to deal with anyways. LOL. I have to say tho, as a fan who is basically only a few months older than Adam, I kinda resent the meme that he only has older fans. EDIT: Also have to say that it's not the older fans per se that are embarrassing to potential new fans, but it's the same group who are at every show who have money to burn and are aggressive and obnoxious and stalkerish. There's a part of me that HOPES AGAINST HOPE that they HATE this new album and GTFO to make way for actual saner fans. ITA with both of you, although it does irritate me that Ryan went for that completely outmoded meme and even went so far as to dig up footage from 2.5 years ago (there was no GNT in Fresno, so it had to be an Idol concert) to bring that point home. A lot of work went into that. Why? They asked people on Twitter for questions and even DMed me to ask for my cell number so they could possibly call me to ask my question on air (they did that with a lot of people). Why, if they had no intention of doing a legitimate interview? But I will admit, I found the opening questions from the gay station in SF equally as out of touch and clueless. The ones who opened with, "We have so many straight females who want to convert you." Really? REALLY??? I've met an assload of Adam fans in my day and I cannot name a single ONE who has ever had any delusions about "converting him." I'm not saying they don't exist, but I think they're in the EXTREME minority. And here these gay interviewers were perpetuating the myth that straight women cannot find a gay man attractive without somehow believing we are hoping to convert them. Are they kidding?? That really bugged me in some ways as much as the Ryan BS. It really seems like they should have been more savvy, but in some ways they were as archaic and childish as Ryan was. Yes. I find the conversion of teh gay question to be very embarrassing and kind of offensive because bringing it up somehow implies that ones sexuality can just be changed like that. That a person CHOOSES their sexuality. And seeing as how a lot of idiots out there think that is exactly what gay people do, that kind of is just...well it doesn't help to solve that myth. But I do however think that the dj's were just joking about it to. I don't think THEY thought it was possible, but were having a laugh about the IDIOT women who think that's possible.

Benny was so *psyched* about it too!. ??? Is this the "muthafuckin' beast" guy? I'm sorry, but I have NO MEMORY when it comes to all these details. :-[

After I watched the Ellen performance about 100 10 times, I started watching Isaac. He is beating the crap out of those drums! I was thinking this song has to either be a lot of fun for him to play or it has to be exhausting! I can definitely hear some backing track, but to my untrained ears, it sounds like less of a backing track than most of the Glam Nation tour songs had.

They were all in Florida, but don't remember if Rico and Benny worked on the same songs or if was different sessions. I mostly remember Adam was in Florida for about a week and we didn't know... :

There's a part of me that HOPES AGAINST HOPE that they HATE this new album and GTFO to make way for actual saner fans. I think that there is definitely a 'squeaky (and more cash and time flush) wheel get's the grease' phenomena with regards to how Adam fans have been perceived by the media and in some ways by others outside the fandom. The same faces at radio meet and greets things irks me too, but it is similar to certain prominent personality types interacting with media personalities on twitter or flocking to comments sections -- making noise frequently gets you noticed. The thing that bothered me the most about the fan bit on Ryan wasn't the age or tipsy-ness in fact (or that it was hardly fair to single them out), it was the Elvis comparison. If the squeaky wheels don't seem to be interested in, or are even outright dismissive and contempous of pop music - the genre of music Adam is making, the music top 40 radio is playing, there is a disconnect there, and radio DJs who only really notice these squeaky fans could assume that this isn't a fanbase that their airplay needs to cater to. (Not that they are necessarily making airplay decisions, but you get my drift). There is a fan I follow on twitter who is younger and I've always been really impressed by the way she interacts with media and comments sections by being positive and light. I was looking at Ryan's @ replies and she was one of several younger fans slightly fed up and saying 'I'm right here, I've been here all along, why don't you see me, I feel invisible'. I'm Ryan's age, but sometimes reading through comment after comment here about hating to listen to pop radio, about how it's all crap, about how rap isn't real music (it's been around 30 years, it's not going away, and it does have complexity and validity) I feel the same way, a little invisible. I totally appreciate the diversity of the fanbase here and everywhere else, btw, this isn't directed at anyone, I'm just lamenting a little bit the lack of time to be squeaky I guess. For me my first mental image of Elvis (and I'm a little ashamed that this is frankly the first thing that comes to mind, because I know it's not fair to his legacy at all) is of a troubled Vegas act who died on his toilet and is occasionally spotted like Bigfoot. What if the group of ladies interviewed had said Adam reminded them of Justin Timberlake? Or that they love Adam and Bruno the best of the Male pop singers? How might that have thrown a wrench in the narrative? I'm just thinking aloud a bit.

I'm going to play catch up tomorrow. Which of the two interviews was this mentioned? I need to hear the words come from his mouth. It was not Radio Alice, not 103, but the other station. The one with the gay DJs. soundcloud.com/galechester/99-7-now-sf-adam-lambert This one it think. I had a hard time finding the longer version of the interview and this one it the longer one. He actually mentioned working with Queen in two different interviews I listened to today. Oh my, getting hard to keep up!
