I think the bottom line for me is, that Adam truly loves all his fans, no matter their age, race, sex, or sexual preference, and that is all that really matters, at least to me.  |

I get that. And I also get: I KNOW the DJs didn't think it was possible, and the issue was not at all about "was conversion possible," but that the entire concept arises from the preconception (which they WERE perpetuating, joking or not) that a woman cannot find a gay man hotter than shit without thinking she has a chance to sleep with him. This is a myth. It's as big a myth as the conversion BS. Straight women GET that gay men are gay. They can STILL find them extremely attractive without any delusions about ever being with them. And the conversation with the DJs, joking or no, dumbs down that fact, IMO. Reading and catching up and it's late, but today has been interesting, hasn't it? I too am offended both by the ageism shown by Ryan's interview and also by the stoopid "conversion" comments in SF. To me they are just different aspects of a misogynistic mindset. Women are either old and embarrassing or young and stupid. Like Susie, I've met tons of female Adam fans and not a single one had any delusion of converting him. I still think a lot of men are genuinely (and inexplicably) threatened by the idea of a woman being attracted or interested in a gay man. I've had straight men gently break the news to me that Adam wasn't going to fuck me. Well, guess what, dude? I don't want Adam to fuck me. I just want him to sing to me. I'm kind of sick to death of straight men putting women down, and straight men putting gay men down, and women putting each other down. Ugghhhhhhhh >:( On the other hand, I can't wait to hear this album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yeah, I'm kinda moody tonight. Whatever. Hmm.... |

Pic from video is very stripped back Adam and gotta say I do miss the glam god - but no complaints seeing I am on team #hecandowhateverhelikesandIwilllikeit The mv picture just made my file of favorites, maybe even debuting at #3. I am loving handsome, stripped back Adam, but I can't deny when I watch a GNT video and see the sparkle, the rhinestones, the glitter, my heart skips a beat. Do I want him to go back? NO. But the fact that we had that Adam for a while is fortunate. Like Madonna and Bowie, I think Adam will continue to reinvent himself over the years as his star continues to rise and that each reincarnation will be exciting. I don't imagine we're going to see the cardigan on tour, but I'll bet it will be a mixture of in your face leather and boots and more laid back "I'm here to sing, so listen" fashions. I'll just go with what Kara said, "You're a genius!" LOL  No, it's true though. I mean, I wouldn't kick him out of bed or anything, but Adam's orientation is so much a part of him I really can't wrap my mind around anything other than Adam with a guy. I find him ridiculously attractive and very much my type, but really, I just don't ~go there in my head. In some weird way it feels like it's betraying who he is. This is just me, though. I actually think there is absolutely nothing wrong with fantasy, and hey, whatever gets a person going is cool. |
