I think the bottom line for me is, that Adam truly loves all his fans, no matter their age, race, sex, or sexual preference, and that is all that really matters, at least to me. Well said. We are pretty awesome, aren't we? Love you guys. Good night.

Uh-oh. Think we are floating out into the deep end of the pool here. I shouldn't even get started. Some guys who think they are too-cool-for-school think it is clever to diss older women or assertive women or women who don't fit the cookie cutter. If you are all three, watch out! But, then again, they think it is cool to diss younger women as being flighty, stoopid, manipulative, or ball-breakers. Think there are some unresolved issues there????
As to the meme "You know he is not gonna fuck you", I don't mean to stereotype, but could that be the difference between male and female? I've read studies about how often the different genders think about sex or think about things in terms of sex. And how for some men, emotion/love/romance and sex are two very separate issues. Perhaps when a guy thinks a girl is HAWT, he is also thinking "I want to fuck her." When a girl thinks a guy is HAWT, she is appreciating a work of art? I know I think Adam is very attractive, physically, artistically, intellectually, and in terms of personality. One of the most compelling males I have ever seen. But, honestly, I have never thought/fantasized about having sex with him. I consider it "art appreciation." It's separate from my need to have an orgasm.
Okay, maybe that was too much information. Back to the shallow end? Yes, it does sound like there are plans in the making for a couple more Queen performances this year. What could be better than the Olympics? Let Kelly sing the damned national anthem. Let Ryan make his usual attempts at demeaning humor. We are talking about QUEEN, ladies and gentlemen. And, perhaps, THE OLYPICS, the world stage.

A year from now it just won't matter! Today's thread ponders a lot of the irritations of "isms" we encounter as AFL fans. Ageism, sexism, gayism, stoopidism... you name it. And it all irritates the hell out of me too. But I just can't help but think about how a year from now we'll be basking in the after-glow of a glorious year of singles, concerts, old friends, new friends, old fans, new fans, young fans, award nominations, special performances, etc. The importance of what Ryan Seacrest said in an interview today, about the age of some of Adam's fans, is going to have as much meaning then as it did today.... SQUAT! I think most people know that many of the mainstream pop-ish artists have fans of all ages, and frankly many of middle-age -- Adam included. The difference may be that Adam does have an extremely loyal, extremely vocal, extremely visible group of fans -- many of them of a more mature age -- and so it's noticed a bit more. It's really a beautiful and unique thing. But rather than talk about it in a positive way, Ryan has to be the typical pin-head shock-jock wanna-be and portray it negatively. It doesn't surprise me in the least. I've always thought Adam made Ryan nervous so I kind of chalk it up to Ryan trying to be something he's not... interesting and cool! A little time, a little patience, a whole lotta love... it's going to be a GREAT year!!! 8-)

lifetraveler - I feel you, it's a game and you have to figure out how best to play it.
bridget - I totally agree that in Ryan's case he was (unconsciously or not) trying to set up a no win situation for both the fans asked the question and/or Adam in the interview.
happycat14 - I'm another one mesmerized by some of Lana del Rey's studio songs (in spite of her really variable live performances), and my wish too is that Adam gets praised for his songs even seperate from himself as the vocalist.
noangel - basically this: and I'd add, though it's nowhere NEAR as important, I'm sick of whole genres of music and the artists who make them being put down and dismissed.
juniemoon -
This is a very good point, but this is where I own my own scorpio? or slytherin, heh, tendencies in that I like this aspect of online identity. I like the ability to mask, to strategize, to choose when to closet and when not to, not out of shame, but simply to 'play the game' and have a certain amount of freedom to change cloaks as I wish. I know in real-life interactions, that's not as possible, and the stigmas are real and limiting.

And yes, I totally agree that in the scope of Adam's career it won't matter at all, but the entire discussion is indicative of how he is a lightning rod. No matter what happens. Whatever he says or does – even if something totally innocuous – somehow invites discussion of broad, complex, reaching issues and I can pretty much bet it will continue far past when this album comes out. This kind of thing is one of the elements that make me so sure he is a game-changing artist – because he fosters debate and challenges convention when he's not even trying. He and Sauli are happily sitting at home juicing and watching TV becoming a "boring couple," and yet ... the very social undercurrent of our society ends up being analyzed. Yipes! I can only imagine what we're in store for when these songs are released, when he IS trying to be evocative, push buttons and lay it all down ... Fasten yer seatbelts ... this ride is just getting started!!!

LOL No, it's true though. I mean, I wouldn't kick him out of bed or anything, but Adam's orientation is so much a part of him I really can't wrap my mind around anything other than Adam with a guy. I find him ridiculously attractive and very much my type, but really, I just don't ~go there in my head. In some weird way it feels like it's betraying who he is. This is just me, though. I actually think there is absolutely nothing wrong with fantasy, and hey, whatever gets a person going is cool. Haha, yeah, I totally understand. I rather see him with men and can fantasize him with men more then I can with a woman. But, yeah, if the chance ever came up...haha

I was having dinner with 6 other women the other night, and all but one of us freely admitted being turned on by m/m erotica/porn. And the topic was not Adam, lol. I think women are just much more open with what they find sexy.
