I will my opinion (only MY opinion) about mr. Toby. I didn't say it until now because I saw some people saying that we need to support everyone that might play Adam's music. I NEVER believed that he would. NEVER. He has an AGENDA. And his agenda is to push Kris . He is a Kris stan and he always will be. I know that they say "people change" Nope. Not him. Just listen to this interview - old interview - only listen if you want to, the beginning and the end - and tell me that this guy, talking THAT way about Adam, has changed his mind about Adam. Sorry. Not buying it. I'm gonna wait what the others have to say about Adam's single. Certainly I'm not gonna wait what mr. Toby has to say. Back to berting gelly, I'm at work now and never want to hear Kris's interview. .. so what did he say about Adam in front of Kris?? maybe Ima gonna tweet Toby this interview so he know that we don't forget. ;D

I personally am not worried about the single yet...but it's the cries of doom from certain peeps that have worn me down into a tiny disgruntled nub. I wanna cry WELL IF IT SUX THAT MUCH WHY DON'T YOU GTFO OUTTA THIS FANDOM THEN?!?!?! Debbie Downer does not begin to describe how I view the doomsday scenarios. Not to criticize other posters, but JFC, why when faced with "what ifs" do some people always choose the worst possible outcome. Claim you are being realistic if you want, but my reality aims for a happier place. I've left twice to regroup, but I think I'll live in la la land for the rest of the day. I've been accused of being a Pollyanna, but it sure as hell beats being Chicken Little. I really thought the cover art high would last a little longer. One reason I hate when the screen widens for a pic and I have to choose between seeing the entire post or seeing the person posting is there are a few who I remember even from PF who are always prepared to rain on any parade that is passing by. Delete me if you must, ban me, whatever, but I'm going to my happy place.

My thoughts echo joky, haribert and wonderstruck. It is interesting that we all seem to be in agreement that the much of the music on radio is crap, yet angst that adam's music does not get much radio play! i often love artists that the masses don't embrace or if they do become commerciallly successful their appeal to me slips somewhat. my 18yr old and I were having just this conversation this morning about adam and "popularity". When I told him how I felt about commecial success he said "mom you are so indy!" To qualify though, I like plenty of pop/rock stars because i like their music. Radio play ad naseum and billions of view on the youtubes. Is this really what it all about? My favorite album of the year is by a band that will never be heard on the radio (although a song of theirs was featured in a Target ad lol) and will most likely never have a tv performance. I want Adam to make a comfortable living and more importantly keep on making music. As long as he can put out a record and TOUR i am good. #TRESSPASSION

TOBY KNAPP HAS AN AGENDA! He is a passive aggressive jerk who not so deep down really doesn't like Adam and he IS a KA supporter. He has no reason to make these comments about sales when he knows perfectly well it takes radio play , plain and simple. He has made many comments that to me sound very unprofessional and this comment is no exception and I have been observing him since he initially started talking about Adam. He does NOT want Adam to succeed but he loves the attention from Adam's fans. The little PA comments he has made such as "no CHR station are playing it" and "where it will live on radio" and now this are all very subtle attempts to worry and cause anxiety. He knows what he is doing. Q3- I know you say he might be in a position to "know" things but even people in high positions can be petty and have their own ideas of how things should be. I don't get what you are saying about Leno and Ellen. Those two shows have never given Adam much of a bump in sales, yet the single shot up the iTunes charts. It didn't stay up because of no radio play. I say we pay no attention to this Toby Knapp, he has an AGENDA, and it does not include Adam's success. I am an Adam fan -- and I will do almost anything to support and promote his success. But BTIKM does not appear to be a hit in the making right now. Maybe the music video will change the dynamic. I am not a fan of Toby Knapp but he does have access to info -- he is the Assistant Program Direct and is responsible for programming 99.5 FM. (There is no PD there.) JMHO --- Toby Knapp is egotistical as is almost everyone in radio. He likes to be "in the know" and that comes off as arrogant, and somewhat nasty at times. But what Toby wrote is at least partially factually correct -- BTIKM is off to a weak sales start but it is really early. Sales week (1) 12/25/11 - 38,800 (2) 1/01/12 - 17,900 (total) 56,700 (3) 1/08/12 - 6,000 (total) 63,000 (4) 1/15/12 - unknown For comparison: Kelly Clarkson's MKIA sold 107,000 in the first week in the US and just reach Platinum -- took 5 months. Toby wrote, "While the song has been gaining radio airplay momentum, initial reports from sources close to Lambert's label have expressed a degree of interest in what could be considered less-than-overwhelming single sales via iTunes and other digital music services. While exact figures are unknown, it's believed label sources wanted to see more units of the single sold.
It's unclear if the single has been shared among fans - with some not paying for the download of the music, or if the single's sales figures are indicitive of radio airplay not fully kicking in across the country.
Either way, it's early, and the excitement from Lambert fans seems to indicate that the single - and the full CD - will sell enough for a platinum award from the RIAA."------ On my comment regarding sales lift from Ellen -- all we have is the relative position on iTunes which can be deceptive. As you move down the chart the sales decline dramatically. From Nielsen.... So here are the numbers for BTIKM before and after Ellen: 1/19/12 Adam performed BTIKM on Ellen US Itunes Before performance #670 After the Ellen Performance it jumped up to #246. (there may be a higher peak, but I think that is correct.) 12/1/09 Adam performed WWFM on Ellen The song did not have a lot of radio support at the time...12/1/09 MediaBase . POP: 82 61 ADAM LAMBERT Whataya Want From Me 286 76 210 4.102 +21 Spins +12 Bullet +0.371 AI HAC: 79 63 ADAM LAMBERT Whataya Want From Me 88 42 46 1.300 +4 Spins -2 Bullet +0.053 AI The album was out so fans who wanted the album did not need to buy the track. Before the performance: #169 After the performance: #108 (peak post Ellen) Remember the sales curve 169 to 108 is a big leap, 670 to 269 is not a big leap because the song was so far down the chart. I was expecting BTIKM to move up into the the high 100's -- around 180 -- not top out at 269. Maybe I had fan expectations. Sometimes people can write/say things about Adam that we do not want to hear and they are actually telling the truth. This seems like that kind of situation to me. Finally, just because something was said, doesn't mean that it should be passed on. I think Toby should have kept this comment about sales to himself. ETA: I fully expect Trespassing (album) to be a mega hit and to have a couple huge hit singles -- and BTIKM may surprise me but I still believe that BTIKM was a positioning single and not intended to be a huge hit. The promotion seems to point mostly to the album, not this single.
