Since we're being divided into Debbie Downers and "those who look on the bright side" I guess I'll be put in the former category. I don't wanna be there but I think I am. Cause I have one more negative thing to say - I'm getting tired of the criticism of the DD's and the lecturing. As I said in an earlier post - we're all different here & we all bring something unique to the table. I hope we (the DD's) are not being chased away. If I wanted to leave I would've left by now.
Btw - I like your recent post better than the earlier one Q3. :D I think there are a lot of views about what is going on but we know very little. On the optimist/pessimist scale, I am an optimist but I am also a rationalist -- when I have facts, I look at them and want to analyze them. So my take on BTIKM is --- No track is a sure hit. If RCA really wanted this song to get a lot of airplay, they would make it happen. BTIKM does not easily fit either Hot AC or Pop/CHR radio formats and RCA knew it when they selected it as the single. The promotion has been focused on presenting Adam as a mainstream pop artist vs. edgy. The promotion is focused on the album not this track. BTIKM is not like the rest of TRESPASSING. My conclusion is that RCA picked this single knowing that it was not going to be a monster hit -- but because they thought it was the best way to promote Adam Lambert and his album. Why would RCA lead off an era with a single that they in no way want to be a hit? I'm sorry, but that just doesn't make any sense. Adam is a POP artist who is putting out a POP album, not some Indie artist who is putting out some concept album that is supposed to appeal to a niche market. A pop album needs to have hits on Pop radio. Why does BTIKM not fit HAC? It is a perfect fit for HAC. If RCA knew that BTIKM wouldn't go anywhere on any radio format, but sent it to radio as Adam's lead single anyways, then this is a strategy I've never seen before. RCA has officially lost its collective mind if this is their game plan. This is simply not how record companies market Pop artists!

All I have to say is the same thing I said last night (with a couple additions)! Tresspassing Tour 2012 and all the new music we have to look forward to is gonna make us LAUGH and CRY and DANCE and PANT! AND I CAN'T WAIT! ;D And IN THE MEANTIME we will all be a little CUCKOO! THE ONLY SELF-IDENTIFYING LABEL ANYONE HERE NEEDS IS "ADAM FAN"! And I for one would welcome some beautiful pics before I have to return to RL, so here's my quick contribution!

The songs that climb iTunes with big sales are the big, CHR hits. RCA knew this was a classic HAC song with eventual cross-over potential. That's why it was originally given an adds date for HAC first. So, the label may be disappointed with adds or the fact that radio is proving tougher than anticipated. But, no way can they be disappointed in sales or iTunes placement at this point unless they are completely out of touch. I still say Toby fabricated a little story to stir the pot. Toby sure did stir the pot and in his doing so, this may lead to awareness and change, often for the good.So RCA will either push this song on radio or they will add a new single ,like they did with the first album. In either case something will happen.IMHO it's only a temporary situation .If we go from past experiences whenever some of us get into a worry mind set, something wonderful happens to change the mood.

BTIKM is about as easy a fit for HAC as you're going to find. CHR might be questionable, but not HAC. Adam isn't Pia, lol. The purpose of the lead-off single is to hit on radio. Maybe not smash, but to be a strong hit that helps the album. RCA should have, at least, had Z100 in their pocket. Not angsting, but I am absolutely shocked that they might possibly be making some of the same mistakes with opening this era. But, not giving up. RCA just needs to get on it. Hard. Actually, being an Adam fan is a lot like the weather in Chicago. Things change every 10 minutes.

You know with all the talk about BTIKM and it's radio add/non-add numbers, being played/not being played on radio, RCA'S promotion/non-promotion of it etc., I just keep remembering a post Q3 did sometime back where she talked about and gave numbers of great/iconic bands and artists that didn't have that many #1 hits on radio. But history has shown their longevity and iconic status. (Wish I still had her post.) That's what I hope for Adam...longevity and to be appreciated for being the 'one in a generation' talent of his generation. So when Adam news gets 'interesting' I just remember Q3's post and I keep looking forward...keeping my eyes on the prize!!
