Enjoyed that etalk Interview! Whenever Adam mentiones Tommy Englisch i have to think of that one snippet He once shared. I'm still in that apparently lol
IT was lovely that the Interviewer seemed to be a Genuine Fan of Adam (Loved His Jacket btw.)
At the end when He Said "weve reminiced" i expected a "whats Up next for you" i Kind of missed that Plug. I know, nitpicking at IT's finest
I'm quite indifferent about the xtina Thing. Tbh i Just remember a Clip where Alison was talking about Adam in an Interview when she was on Idol and xtina SAT next to her. She was BIG when i was Young. To give her Credit, If you Look at her Video to beautiful she was early with the Message of acceptance that hast become far more wide spread now.
Maybe "Opener" was a easy phrase Adam Used Not to have to explain a complicated Arrangement but i agree at this Point the Lead Singer If Queen opening for xtina Sounds Off.

I don’t know how much Adam Lead Singer of Queen carries over to Adam The Solo Artist. He sells out big arenas with Queen but his solo appearances are smaller venues. I think appearing with Christina could have broadened his solo audiences, especially in the US.

Last night at my 50th Birthday Bash my DH dressed up and performed two Whataya Want from Me and Fever - Trying to bring the pics in - but I can't get it to work. It was a night to remember ! Cool hubby. |

Adam has never opened while many other Idols have opened for larger acts. They are playing to a few hundred in clubs now and never grew their audience. They often come to see the main acts and not the openers. Massive radio exposure often results in playing larger venues. If you can get that along with opening, it may make a difference in growing your audience. That is what could have given Adam a chance at playing much larger venues on his own but he never got that. Xtina is no longer on radio either so her audience in the US is smaller now. I don't think opening for her would have made a difference in the size of his US venues. But he is still doing pretty much the same size solo venues that he always did. QAL gives him more cred and that something extra.

As an aside… it can and does happen
“The Taylor Swift Effect: How She Helped Opening Acts Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes and Ed Sheeran Become Superstars.”
From March to September 2013, Ed played at arenas and stadiums across North America as the opening act for Taylor. He then went on to headline three sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden a month later. The rest is history.
Adam has a particular style and brand/taste in music. The question would be… who aligns with fans that would appreciate both the opener and Adam. (Cher! Lol! ) but again… older crowd.
The dilemma to me is thinking of who is a big star that Adam could tour with. Easier for Adam to find people who could open for him. The Demi Lovato “almost tour” with Adam … ( that Nick Jonas got)was shaky at best as she was having so many personal issues… sales were weak if I remember correctly.
As Adam’s next venture is into the rock musical genre…. No clue the actual direction of that music… so hard the guess who would be a good partner to get that music in front of new bodies/minds. This project will take time.
With High Drama music and select songs from his other albums… he could appeal to Pink fans. Doubt that would happen… but have always crossed fingers.

They all got massive radio play and many big hits thanks to label support and push. Danny Gokey and many other acts also opened for Taylor but they were never radio darlings so they did not blow up. I think if Adam had received the type of radio play that other superstars received, he would have more hits and playing solo arenas too. There are some country Idols who have opened for stadium acts but they were never the big radio gets so when they went out on their own, they did not blow up to the point that they could headline arenas. Carrie started out opening for big acts but she was a country radio darling with huge radio play and many hit songs and became a country superstar who could headline arenas on her own. So you really need some exposure (label push and support) other than just opening for bigger acts and that would apply to Adam too. I think that is part of the reason QAL has not played out solo. He is rarely, if ever on the radio. If he were on rock radio, with some hit songs with his solo work as he toured with QAL/Oscars/Documentary, things might have been different. And when Adam was to open for Xtina, she was on the decline and no longer a big draw for radio play. So I find it hard to believe it would have changed much for him. |
