twitter.com/TheWrap/status/1647944254436659202Adam Lambert is putting his skills to the ultimate test on this week’s “That’s My Jam,” when a spin of the Wheel of Music challenges him to impersonate music legend, Cher. In an exclusive clip shared with TheWrap ahead of Monday’s episode of the NBC series, Simu Liu and Halle Bailey battle it out against Chlӧe Bailey and Lambert on the NBC game show. Lambert’s pull of the mic to spin the wheel lands on the wheel of musical impressions. If impersonating Cher wasn’t enough pressure, the “Whataya Want From Me” singer is tasked with singing “The Muffin Man” à la Cher — a prospect that sends both Lambert and host/executive producer Jimmy Fallon into laughter. “Do you have a Cher in you?” Fallon asks Lambert, who gets into character with a classic Cher expression. “I got it,” Lambert exclaims as he heads to the stage. “Jam Band, can you give us something with a Cher feel?” Fallon requests, and the band kicks off to the tune of Cher’s “Believe.” More... www.thewrap.com/adam-lambert-cher-the-muffin-man-thats-my-jam/

As an aside… it can and does happen “The Taylor Swift Effect: How She Helped Opening Acts Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes and Ed Sheeran Become Superstars.” I don't think it was Taylor who made them superstars tho the experience was helpful. They all got massive radio play and many big hits thanks to label support and push. Danny Gokey and many other acts also opened for Taylor but they were never radio darlings so they did not blow up. I think if Adam had received the type of radio play that other superstars received, he would have more hits and playing solo arenas too. There are some country Idols who have opened for stadium acts but they were never the big radio gets so when they went out on their own, they did not blow up to the point that they could headline arenas. Carrie started out opening for big acts but she was a country radio darling with huge radio play and many hit songs and became a country superstar who could headline arenas on her own. So you really need some exposure (label push and support) other than just opening for bigger acts and that would apply to Adam too. I think that is part of the reason QAL has not played out solo. He is rarely, if ever on the radio. If he were on rock radio, with some hit songs with his solo work as he toured with QAL/Oscars/Documentary, things might have been different. And when Adam was to open for Xtina, she was on the decline and no longer a big draw for radio play. So I find it hard to believe it would have changed much for him. It does boil down to radio play, doesn't it? That old-time, reliable media that been the catalyst for hit songs forever. Adam's music is as good as anybody's. It's hard to pinpoint just why strong radio play has eluded him. We can blame it on labels, management, or any other thing. But it's not for lack of talent or good music. Logic tells us that a guy with that voice and those good looks and songs that are nicely spread through genres should get some decent radio play. But Adam has had pretty much none. And I won't even get started on country music. It's a universe unto itself with its own rules. They do support their own, that's for sure. They embrace new artists and get them out there. And when there are country music award show every couple months (or so it seems), you chances of becoming an "award winner" are fairly good. After all these years, Adam has ONE Grammy nom. Not one win. It boggles the mind. He doesn't even get award attention for his incredible one-offs like Believe, which impressed millions of attendees and home viewers. OK, I've ranted enough. Bottom line. Radio play. But don't hold your breath.

Adam is just too good and too funny. He has a great sense of humor and really seems to be a really good guy, nice person. ILHSM!
I think Fallon is a fan, too.

I once heard it was a label thing, pay for play or something like that. Don't know if that is the case, or mis-information. It's like the whole cat chasing it's tale thing. No radio play because no interest, no interest because no one has heard him on the radio. I love him, am a fan, and will always be a fan. He is just phenomenal and deserves the recognition in the US that he gets elsewhere. I read somewhere - and it is correct - saying Adam is under-rated is an insult to him. He is lead singer of an iconic band, he has a solo career (we also wish were broader) he has become a multi-millionaire, he is loved internationally, he writes, he sings and he acts. I think he is wonderfully successful.

I think he is wonderfully successful. I agree with you and girldrummer. I don't know who dropped the ball but seeing Adam sing other's ballads on tribute shows or Queen and get such great recognition for his voice makes me wonder why no one could get him an emotional ballad on radio. He has so many that could have had the same impact of some by Adele, Sam, Ed, Bruno and Freddie. They had hits with songs that reached people who buy music and were not just interested in dancing in the club. Soaked, Broken Open, Time for Miracles, Can't Let You Go, Underneath, There I Said It, Closer To You, Feel Something were all award worthy if someone other than his fans had been exposed to them on a massive scale. It makes you wonder who thought no one would be interested in Adam's serious and emotional music and why he was not allowed to compete with others who had successful ballads that were hits and won awards. Yes he is highly successful and loved but the hit songs, that come from big radio exposure, allowed others to win awards and play arenas.
