Does that part in OOL where he's moaning/singing remind anyone else of kd lang? I think maybe she did that a lot on her album Drag (which is beautiful for any voicebets looking for a CD) and it's mesmerizing. When people say he doesn't play an instrument, just listen to that bit. It's so hauntingly beautiful and only someone with amazing technique an ability could do that live. Off to listen to Trespassing for the 100th time... Haunting is the perfect word! It hurts so much, I almost can't lsiten to that part! I cried during OOL. I haven't done that since last July.

his vocals are so cool when he sings "optimistic vine" in trespassing. The studio track is gonna be sick. (In little girl voice) Are we there yet????

I thought the version of Fever Adam did was wonderful -- very bluesy vibe, which was different but great! I love how he really keeps changing songs over time. BTIKM was lovely, and Kevin is really a great addition on many levels. OOL was gorgeous -- it made me emotional (sniff) WWFM -- great as usual (oops to the last line!) and TRESPASSING is AMAZING!!!!
Such a good treat -- and I loved Adam playing cowbell, too. He is such a good spirited dork about doing that kind of stuff.
I can't wait for the next showcase!
BTW -- every performer has a way of dealing with dead crowds (I've had my share--shudder) and Adam handles this really well. The performance actually reminded me of some of his Upright Cabaret gigs because he knows that most folks are not necessarily there "for him" but he gives his all anyway. He is such a true professional who always gives his best whatever the circumstance. I truly admire him for that. A lot of other musicians could learn from him as well...

TommyJoeRatliff TommyJoe Ratliff “@adamlambert: " I don't need no sympathy. I won't cry and whine. Life's my light and liberty, and I'll shine when I wanna shine"” ugh! 👍 2 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply This is the lyrics I can't stop singing...I have it on repeat in my brain!! We're going crazy for this little tease for Trespassing but can you imagine when we hear Shady, Cuckoo, Underneath and all the rest of the songs!! We'll be all I got to go make dinner. Leaving with "No trespassing, yeah, my ass! Wait till ya get a load of me!" going through my head!

He was a bit wobbly on the pitches in the very first phrase of the song, but the rest was close to pitch perfect. I also thought that very first phrase was off. Not criticizing, merely observing. The rest was great, and so were the other songs! I also thought that he dropped the key in BTIKM, which may explain the tentative start. Poor guy, we are analyzing his signing to death

Finally had a minute to actually listen to the performance, and as often happens, was pleasantly surprised. Usually when I love one version of a song I get all cranky when someone deviates from it, but I really love BTIKM in the lower version. (But then, I'm someone who thinks that Adam's lower notes are too often ignored for the glory notes, and I love the contrast when he spends more time in his lower range.) The piano was beautiful.
I'm a Fever Fanatic, and expected to hate the acoustic version, but I really liked it.
We are going to need an acoustic CD, that's for sure.
Dying to hear what Trespassing really sounds like...
ETA: I have to say that I expected the worst, but it looked to me like at least the burly guys in plaid in the front were digging it!
ETA2: Even jetlagged, dried out, and exhausted, his command of pitch is freaking astonishing. I agree he wobbled the first two notes of BTIKM, but with his ear, he found the right note immediately. It never fails to send a shiver up my spine when he leaps an octave and hits the note perfectly.

Oh also he hit the low note on Fever, a low B! Then a high F# later on! Crazy range showcasing.

I sometimes think that we can be his harshest critics. I wonder why that is. Why do we have this need to pick apart his performances rather than just sit back and enjoy them? At first, at least for me, it was because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was so impressed and overwhelmed I wanted to know what the hell he was doing to sound so good. Now that I am familiar with his voice and technique, why do I continue? Guess maybe I am still incredulous that he can keep on doing what he is doing so consistently. Can keep sounding better and better. Perhaps it is what Paula said about him constantly setting his own bar higher and higher so that we expect greater and greater feats. But, having listened with a "critical" ear to this performance, I am happy to sit back and just let it wash over me. No live performance is perfect, but Adam consistently comes close enough to it to thrill me and leave me in awe.
