I was watching a segment last night on musical artists who were awful on Saturday Night Live. It just goes to show if you get a performance it is still beneficial. Never cared about Adam hosting (tho would be great) but a performance could have been wonderful for his career. It worked well for Sam, Weeknd, Hosier and others. It even worked well for some who had less than stellar performances. After hearing all the hype about Frank Ocean, when I saw him on SNL he was boring and could not sing live. Went on to win several Grammy's tho. Lana Del Rey was terrible on her first performance. But she has several #1 Alt albums and a #1 Rock album and several Grammy nominations. Her SNL performance was panned but it did not hold her back. Greta Van Fleet were being called the next Led Zeppelin but when I saw them perform on SNL, I thought it was some joke. Never watched them again so I don't know if that was just one awful performance. There was much ridicule for that performance but they were nominated for several Grammy's and won for Best Rock Album a few years back. Rock does not have a lot of competition so much easier to get a Grammy outside of pop and onto some of the less competitive charts like Rock, Alt and some others. One of the twins (the lead singer) of GVF just came out as gay last month. But like Sam, LNX and Frank, they already had songs to reach the top of the charts before the reveal. In GVF case, they had some songs reach the top of the rock charts and a Grammy so hopefully they will not be hurt either. They also listed Troye Sivan as having one of the worst SNL performances. I agree. He was pretty bad when I saw that performance but unlike the others, I don't think it helped his career tho he has done fine. He was dancing and prancing and trying to be sexy but he looked like a young boy trying way too hard. I generally don't care to see choreographed dancers but he could have benefited from hiding behind them instead of wigging across that stage alone. That is one of the things I love about Adam, he has some sexy and smooth organic moves and doesn't need a choreographed dance routine to hide less than great vocals like some others. Tho I can see why he would use them in a Vegas show but not much when he has tv performances. And having choreographed dancers is not very rock and roll, lol. His tv performances have always been better and have more of an impact without them.

Nice to see Adam walk the runway, but don't like the vaping! I see so many young people these days smoking and vaping and they have known from Day 1 that it is bad for their health. It doesn't help when celebrities make it look cool! Canadian cigarette packaging already has gross pictorial warnings and next year each individual cigarette will have a written warning. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference though sadly!

Kind of off the topic, but I was looking at People magazine yesterday and discovered that two singers who I assumed were straight are actually gay. I know about Scott Hoying and Ben Platt but don't follow their careers, so I was a bit surprised to find out they both have male partners. And isn't it nice that they can celebrate that publicly!! I know a bit more about Scott because I watched the show The Singoff where Pentatonix got its start. I thought they were great on that show and even bought their first album. Anyhow I looked up Scott and discovered more about him. "Unfortunately, for Scott Hoying, in the early days of Pentatonix, he felt like he was almost forced to go back into hiding to help the group be successful. He told the Dallas Voice that holding back such an important part of himself worked against him in the end. As he put it, "I should have learned my lesson the first time. Hiding who I was all over again wore me down to the point I didn't care if people hated me or not, I just wanted to be real." It seems he came out publicly with this song in 2017. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLiWFUDJ95I
